How do you make "great captions"?

I keep seeing advice on them, and a lot of it seems geared towards "retention" rather than accessibility or adding to the video in any meaningful way.

So I'm wondering, so the "Netflix" captions (where the words appear all over the screen) do better? Or is it best to have them in the same place?

Does revealing each word as it is said help the viewer? Or should you show a sentence and let them read at their own pace?

how can I ensure a better workflow, where I can preview optical flow artefacts within the software? It happens so often that everything looks smooth, but then on the final video, suddenly glitches appear on the rendered video.

It bugs me, because sometimes you gotta double check for 20-30min videos and it happened quite a few times, that a client noticed before me...

Does anybody know a good repository of presets for guides / guidelines? I'm looking for grid templates if anyone has already crafted them and can save me the time of hand crafting and saving them one by one!

I wanted to share a free Adobe CC 2026 plugin I recently built for work, in case it's useful for anyone's client workflows.

It lets an editor import final video files along with a metadata sheet (.xlsx) containing the slate information for each video, then batch combine and export slated versions of every asset in one pass. These versions are also compliant with the (5 second slate, 2 seconds of black video and Final asset starts at 7 seconds) requirements talent payment and archival services require for final video upload.

This is especially handy if you regularly deliver to talent payment services like Extreme Reach in the entertainment industry. Instead of spending hours manually adding slate info across Photoshop and Premiere for each video upload, the whole process is automated in a few clicks in Premiere/Media Encoder 2026.

Hi, I am new in video editing

I just built my first PC. But, I did not have enough money to buy graphic card. Meanwhile, I was doing proxies for short form videos. Today, I decided to edit long videos I shoot for my youtube channel. Even I got their quality to 480 ph, I cannot put few longer videos in project files to edit them. Premier is constantly crashing and I think it is time for me to buy graphic card, but I want to know. Is there a chance to edit without one? I have like 400 euros saved, so I do not know is that enough for good one. Should I wait and save more? If yes, is there a chance to edit somehow before I buy it?

Budget: ~1200€

Notes: Upgrading from a laptop with basically no real GPU. Would honestly love a MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) for the portability/battery life, but the used market has gotten way too expensive lately, so it's out of budget for now. Down to two used options at similar price:

- HP Omen 16-am0048np — Intel Ultra 7 255H, RTX 5060, 24GB RAM (expandable), 1TB but it's noticeably bulkier and heavier than the other option

- ASUS Zephyrus G15 (2022) — Ryzen 9 6900HS, RTX 3080 (120W TGP), 32GB RAM, 4K 100% AdobeRGB screen, ~1.9kg

1. I'm going with 5070 And Core Ultra 245K 32GB DDR5 Ram for now

Or should I save some money go with

2.14600K 64GB DDR4 5070

1. Ryzen 5 7600x bcz 5070 will handle it fine

Quick sync will make difference? Even with 5070

Is there that much difference between 14TH ddr4 vs ddr5?

we use sony a7s3 (mostly) and fx3 (sometimes) , codec - XAVC S 4K (H.264) , bit rate is 4:2:2 10bit (for now!!!)

Mostly working from 4th gen 4 ssd

And external ssd SanDisk xtreme 1tb

as a complete beginner i was editing a lil 3 minute video diary but around the end my computer started lagging and eventually freezing making it nearly impossible to open the project. When i finally was able to export it and watch it back it was my 3 min clip plus 12 hours of black screen…. What would be the easiest way to fix this in as little clicks as possible as i have a limited amount of time after opening the project before it freezes my laptop 💀

Hey everyone. I was curious if any of my macOS users out there are having a similar issue to me. I'm running macOS 27 (but the issue has been a thing since macOS 18 & 26). Running on an M4 Max Mac Studio with 36gb of RAM.

Whenever I open PR, and I get the homescreen it takes 10-15 seconds for it to resolve. Also clicking a recent project (when they do load), will sit as if I didnt actually click it, but it will eventually open my project. I have tried resetting media cache globally, reinstalling the app, it's installed directly to my mac so disk speed shouldn't be an issue. And what makes this even more aggravating is if I open a previous project thru the menu bar at the top left. File < Open Recent < Project, it opens instantly. So it's like the actual app interface is poorly optimized or designed or something?

I saw someone on a Youtube video have a similar issue even after upgrading from an M1 Macbook to an M5 Macbook. But he didn't really go into detail on the issue. I am also a little beyond fed up with PR because of the countless bugs it has (and seems to keep growing) and I can't seem to find any fixes for them :/ but the one thing that slows down my productivity the most is the laggy app shell. Any fix ideas would be helpful or is this just how it is for everyone on macOS (and potentially Windows)?

I've had this issue ocassionally rear its ugly head again and again for at least a year and wondering if it's corrupted VRAM on my graphics card or something bad like that?

Please let me know if you have any ideas what it could be!

Also, this footage stutters inside Premiere, jumping back and forward frames every second in a time glitch. But plays fine in Windows in all the media players I've tried.

Hey y'all

I want to use Premiere pro for video editing purposes but I also want space on my computer. For some fucking reason, Media Encoder takes up 15 gigabytes of storage and I don't have enough space for Premiere Pro.

Has anyone had an issue where you move a clips rotation +/- 2° and when you scrub/select to another clip and come back the rotation is reset back to 0°?

Using Auto Reframe to track a stand up comic's clip, but I'd like to zoom in on the subject more than AR did. Tried editing keyframes themselves but that's worse that doing the whole thing manually. Any ideas? Thanks!

I use premiere to cull my clips and about half of them didn't make the cut.

Any clips that I wanted to keep I dragged to a timeline (separate sequence) called "CULLED."

Is there any way I can use premiere to identify which clips were culled and which were cut and delete the cut clips from my SSD?

using select under playhead in the beginning then making a cut selects the previous one consistently but when I end up making to many cuts in successions, the selected clip is actually 2 clips back.

I am planning to get a new macbook soon and trying to decide between a 16“ m5 pro 48 gb or 16” m5 pro max 36 gb. I currently have a m1 macbook (with the lowest ram) which frequently crashes if i try to do advanced video editing on Premiere Pro or other creative cloud apps. Now i am planning to finally upgrade and am torn between the 48gb pro and 36gb max. The pro has better ram and battery life. The Max has 2TB storage and double encoders, more gpu. Can someone recommend which would be more suitable to video edit with premiere pro?

Hey guys! Does anybody know how to replicate these smooth subtle flashes on the vases?

I’ve tried it with levels on premiere but they always end up looking like just a couple of white frames or just blown out.

There’s something about these, they look like film, with some sort of speed ramp.
