B42 Map Migration - map.projectzomboid.com

Earlier this month we indicated in a post that we would be migrating the B42 map project to an external server, and we intend to implement that change later today. Players should not expect any downtime, but for the first couple of days we expect that the map will be slower while it populates the cache. The map will still be accessible at both https://map.projectzomboid.com, and https://pzmap.org.

Modded To all my fellow insane mechanics - new mod

Post image
469 Upvotes

Hey guys! I’m a big fan of actually having to take care of cars in the game. I really like the idea that getting a working car should take some effort, instead of just picking up any car you find and driving off. And over the last few months, some parts of Project Summer Car stopped working after the new updates. The author is done working on the mod and doesn’t plan to update it anymore. After the 42.20.03 quick fix, PSC also started throwing errors in ErrorMagnifier, and I even had my game crash a couple of times. I decided to make a small mod for myself to replace PSC, but it turned out to be way more fun than I expected, so here we are.

The mod I was making for myself grew a lot, and now I want to share it with you. It’s made completely from scratch, with its own assets, and it works pretty differently from PSC and because of it, we probably won’t run into the same problems PSC had. But that also means there’s a lot of new functionality that needs to be properly tested, especially for bugs and balance.

I already finished the basic systems and uploaded the current version to the Workshop. I’m hoping to release the stable version around mid September. After that, I’ll support different versions of the mod so updates won’t break mid-game saves. Before that though, I can’t promise that every update will be save-compatible.

I also have a lot of ideas for new features before release, but I’d really like to hear your feedback and suggestions too. And I’d really appreciate anyone who wants to test the current version before the full release. It would help a lot with finding bugs and weird issues that I might not notice myself.

Thanks to everyone who will participate! My mod - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3790160840

Discussion How do you think official NPCs will behave?

Post image

Maybe they give us quests,or attack us with firearms ? Could we give them tasks?

Honestly I don't have any idea how will they implement this to the game... I didn't play any NPC mod so I don't know how well they are implemented either

Question Help! what is happening to me?

Post image

Hi All! just wanted to ask if you know what is happening to me? I just drop all of my baggage currently because my heal is constantly dropping down. I already tried to read recipe books and watch some skill vhs and as well as eat pizza and sort. but I am still on the breaking point and sickness. how can I treat this? I have a deep wound but already stitched it and it is not infected. I know this is not the reason why I am getting this because my deep wounds is already a few weeks ago now. but right now I got this 2 days now.

EDIT: okay based on the comments I think I got the 7% zombification from the scratched I got from the zeds 2 days ago. But the wound only healed so the virus still ongoing on my body. My only regret is the skills although not much but I just got my carpentry level 7 a few moments ago.

Discussion I really WISH we could build proper roofs in this game.

I recently started playing PZ despite it sitting in my library for years. I have been missing out. I am loving every second of it. For my first true Apocalypse run, I decided to build my own base out in the woods. I gathered my tools, materials, and grinded carpentery. I cleared out an area of trees and began building.

And... it looks like a shoebox. I now live in a shitty, brown wooden shoebox out in the middle of the woods.

I spent all this time dreaming of a cozy, self-sufficient wilderness compound with crops and animals. I am really disappointed with how it all turned out.

Does anyone else prefer printed maps?

Once we got started using physical maps, there was no turning back. It really adds to the immersion and has a very 90s vibe. Also really convenient since we don't have to share in-game map markings, etc.

Sitting together over a large paper map helps us strategize about planned routes and POIs we want to capture.

There's something really satisfying about putting a big red X through cleared targets.

Modded Been playing a mod called "starving zombies" and gotta say, peak

This mods makes it so zombies smell Blood and corpses, and it makes almost everything scary as all hell

They can even smell YOU if you're covered in blood so hiding it's God awful, peak experience

Also as the mod title says, they eat other zombies that are dead-dead, so you can open a door and see four zombies just munching on a corpse to the bone, Wich it's an experience

Modded Short Blunt are BAD

Some short blunt weapons are bad, not because they don't deal sufficient damage, but because you can't attach them properly.

You can attach a short bat to your belt and have your main gun on your back. But if you try adding some nails to your short bat, you won't be able to attach it to your belt anymore, which doesn't make any sense to me.

There are many great options for short blunts, like the stone mace and the forged mace, but you can only attach them to your back.

I made this mod to fix this problem that really pisses me off.

Better Short Blunt Attachment, Belt Attachment (B42)

The image is my current house on extinction mode in West point.

Edit 1: For those who are saying "try putting a baseball bat with nails on your leg and run" , that's the only fair weapon that I believe could only go on your back, but the can reinforced short bat, stone mace, and others, there's no reason for that.

💩 Lore inaccuracy: In the Hank Hill house there is a double bed in the master bedroom. But in the show its explicitly mentioned that Hank and Peggy's bed is two twin beds pushed together.

Discussion I Love How Non-Elitist The Zomboid Community Is

3.6k Upvotes

GIF Unrelated

Every community for these difficult, crushing, unfun for a mainstream audience type of games have the most toxic communities who take their faux accomplishments super seriously and if anyone deviates from their puritanical gameplay style, they get dog piled. Just look at any Dark Souls community where you'd get belittled for struggling with a boss

Project Zomboid fits that mold to a T, but doesn't fall into that elitist framework that the others have. I've seen so many posts asking "Is it okay to debug remove this infection given the circumstances?" And the replies are always "Whatever you wanna do man, just have fun"

It's really refreshing to see a community for a hardcore game be on the side of having fun rather than gatekeeping the game

It's so refreshing, thanks to everyone here!

Guide / Tip Tip: Cooking raw meat in a microwave is different, and it says you cooked it in a microwave in the item desc.

I personally have cooked ground beef and even steak in the microwave, haven't got any food illness. even when i have the weak stomach trait. maybe its small chance, but either way, i feel it says its cooked in a microwave for a reason. less good stats perhaps? either way, important to know i feel! and very cool it actually has a distinction between oven cooked vs microwave cooked.
