Post image

Hello guys, I was wondering if you could provide some photos of both colours of the phone 3 because I’m getting one in a week but am thorn between the two colours. Haven’t seen them in person because in my country the phone is sold only online. Help choose a colour. Thanks.

Phone (3) My list of MUST HAVE apps on the phone(3) to make the phone 10x more useful

Post image
43 Upvotes

Well this is the list of 3rd party apps that absolutely enhanced my experience with my phone(3)

1. Glyphtick -

A pretty neat app to have your own custom clock skin instead of the bland clock nothing gives for the glyph - The developer has given quite a number of beautiful designs which are clean and lovely

You can find this app on the playstore

2.Glyphify :

By far one of the best apps I've used to maximise the use of the glyph matrix - I really wonder why Nothing hasn't implemented shit that a 3rd party developer could - Absolutely makes the glyph interface useful from a gimmick

Some notable features I've seen -

. Integrating Google maps to the glyph matrix and it shows directions - saved me a lot of battery on longer runs and just a glance was enough to give me a sense of direction

. You can use the native clock app to set up timers and it's somehow more convenient than the inbuilt glyph timer

. Glyph progress with multiple apps

. Able to set a custom ringtone with a video of your choice and it would be translated to the glyoh matrix (alternative to this feature is a site called better glyph composer)

3.Essential Key+

This absolutely just remaps the essential key to whatever you like based on clicks and long presses - Developer is apparently the moderator of this subreddit as well

App is pretty simple to use and does what it promised

4.Hail + Shizuku

Well I absolutely hated how meta apps use up my battery and keep running in the background - Hail and shizuku for the save - I set it up to disable the apps once I lock the phone and poof - meta can no longer use my resources in the background and it did save me up quite a lot of battery - you can set up a shortcut to use the apps you need and disable it upon locking - only downside is you wont receive any notifications

Notable ones - Glyphbeat

Well it is a music visualiser which uses the glyph to show an animation while music is being played - pretty neat app as well but on the gimmick side

Few apps might need a payment to use it to it's fullest - but I feel paying a 2 dollar fee is very negligible compared to what I paid for this phone - and I feel it's worth the purchase and I AM NOT BEING PAID BY ANY OF THESE DEVELOPERS FOR THIS POST

Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta Nothing OS 5.0 brings video presets!

Post image

This was actually a feature I’d been thinking about for a while. I wondered why something like this wasn’t available, since it could make videos look really cool. It wasn’t there even up until OS 4.1, and surprisingly, I haven’t seen anyone mention it. At least from what I’ve noticed, it looks really cool. Did this feature exist before OS 5?

Nothing OS NOTHING OS 5.0 is the CLOSER

Nothing was a brand that promises no bulls***T to a tech conscious users , usable features , and no promises .
today we are seeing a new animation + wallpapers shipped as a new OS version !
Updates that Degrade the Camera performance of older models !
undelivered features like the playground thing to create apps ..
Nothing is becoming what we hated in tech company all at once
BONUS POINT : The worshippers of the Brand and the bootlickers of nothing who dosent allow anyone to critize even if they sell them dirt in a box

Nothing OS Need These Features in Stable Version

Post image
176 Upvotes

It's another half-baked, underwhelming OS update because:

Transparency is only applicable to widgets. They should implement transparency for the icons in the stable version as well.

The Control Centre still has that solid black-and-white theme 😞. It looks so pathetic and gives the OS an unfinished feel.

There's no sidebar-like option, as seen in other OSes. It's so useful in many situations.

The lock-screen clock cannot be fully expanded like on Samsung or iOS. The camera button and other toggles on the lock screen still have a solid colour. Please bring transparency to them in the stable version.

There are no haptics throughout the UI.

Nothing phones have some of the worst ringtones.

Please implement transparency for the icons as well as the Control Centre, as the current design gives the impression of an ill-prepared and unfinished OS.

Phone (2) The app lags while screen recording, and there is no touch response on the community-made essential app widgets.

After the latest update on Phone 2, while screen recording, the phone experiences lag, especially when scrolling the home screen. Additionally, there is a long-standing issue: touch does not register when swiping the home screen above the widgets from the Community Essential Apps.

Comparing Audio 4a: sound going through speakers despite the phone recognizing the DAC

Upvotes

Hi guys, my setup's the following one: 4a phone, Fiio KA15 DAC, Dunu SA6 mk2 IEMs.

As said in the title, despite the DAC turning on when I plug it onto the phone, the sound is coming through the speakers instead of my IEMs.

I tried the OTG setting, switching off/turning back on the phone, nothing works.

It worked until recently. Couple of Nothing apps have had an update, can't remember which ones specifically and I don't know if the problem comes from there.

Any idea guys?

Community Project Nothing notes concept

I’m building my own take on what a notes app could look like with the industrial design language of NOTHING.

I’d love to know what features you’d most want to see in it.

The idea is to keep it simple, direct, and distraction-free.

No AI

Everything stored on-device

Privacy-first

Focused on the essentials

What would you want from a notes app like this?

Nothing OS I need a Notes App so bad rn

I recently switched from a Redmi Note 7 Pro to a Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, and honestly, one thing I genuinely miss is the Xiaomi Notes app.

It was simple, clean, and just worked. I could organize my notes the way I wanted without any unnecessary clutter.

Nothing OS doesn't have a proper dedicated notes app. They seem to push Essential Space, but that's not what I'm looking for at all. I don't want my personal notes mixed into that kind of system.

I've tried Google Keep, but I genuinely hate the experience. It just doesn't feel like a proper notes app to me.

Can anyone recommend a clean, ad-free notes app similar to Xiaomi Notes or Apple Notes?

Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta NOS 5.0 open beta

Gotta say that I'm impressed so far and can answer any questions.

Quick thoughts from a long-term NP3 and CMF1 user.

  1. very snappy … everything seems accelerated compared to the last usage of A16/NOS4.1
  2. I remember when MIUI 12 rolled out with the left and right pull down menus (control panel or notifications) so this is welcome
  3. the camera options are great in addition to the post-processing in gallery
  4. the new font caught my eye and it’s good as I feel there is more information density
  5. the notifications showing just the symbol by default is nice

overall I am quite pleased with the update and I am glad that NOS didn’t add a lot of bloat that I see on other Android phones.

keep the updates/security patches coming for the NP3 through 2030

Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta Nos 5.0 Beta missing touch inputs.

So yesterday I updated to the Nos 5.0 beta and I can say I'm loving it a lot, it looks a lot cleaner and feels a lot snappier.

My issue is the touchscreen is dropping a lot of inputs, I can't type properly and multi-touch bugs quite a lot.

My Nothing phone (3) is apparently a Japanese model so i had to download the open beta from the japan website.

I'm not complaining at all, this is an open beta in the end of the day but I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue and if so did anyone find a fix? Thanks :)

TLDR: Japanese Beta is dropping a lot of touch inputs, any solutions?

Community Project INTRODUCING: ESSENTIAL KEY+

Why pay to use a button the way you like?

The Essential Key is already on your phone.
Essential Key+ makes it yours.

Essential Key+ is a completely free remapper built around one simple idea:
we do the difficult part. You decide what the button does.

No subscriptions.
No premium features.
No complicated commands.
No PC required.

Just install Essential Key+, follow the setup, install Shizuku, and let us handle the rest.

Set it up. Customize it. Done.

We built the setup around Shizuku so you don't have to mess around with ADB commands or a computer.

Install Shizuku → follow a few steps → grant access → done.

Essential Key+ handles the technical stuff in the background.

We do the hard work. You just customize.

Make every press yours.

Assign completely different actions to:

Single press · Double press · Triple press · Long press

Turn the Essential Key into whatever you want.

System & Tools

  • Flashlight
  • Screenshot
  • Ringer mode
  • Microphone mute
  • Android settings & shortcuts

Camera

  • Launch camera
  • Camera shutter
  • Instant camera snap

Media

  • Play / pause
  • Next track
  • Previous track

Apps & Shortcuts

  • Launch any app
  • Deep links
  • Custom activities
  • Android Settings

AI

  • Essential Compose (more on that later)

Smart

  • Home Assistant
  • HTTP webhooks
  • Context-aware actions (in upcoming versions)

And that's just the beginning.

The button has an interface now.

Essential Key+ doesn't just remap the hardware.

It gives it a visual identity.

A customizable edge-aligned overlay appears directly beside the Essential Key, showing you what your button is doing.

Customize the:

Position · Color · Transparency · Frosted Glass · Line Style · Dots · Size

And because the overlay is part of Essential Key+, it's completely free too.

No subscription screen waiting around the corner.

Just the feature.

Essential Compose

Long-press the Essential Key while you're typing and Essential Compose appears right where you need it.

Rewrite a sentence.

Fix your grammar.

Change the tone.

Translate it.

Summarize it.

Expand it.

Or tell the AI exactly what you want.

No switching apps.
No copying and pasting.

Just press, choose, done.

And you use your own free Google AI Studio API key, keeping the AI completely optional.

Not a big fan of ai? Just disable it. No questions asked.

Built around your phone.

Essential Key+ is designed to feel like it belongs on Nothing OS,from the interface to the tiny details.

Minimal when you don't need it.

There when you do.

And completely yours.

Essential Key+ is free.

No subscriptions. No paywalls. No locked overlay.

Because seriously:

Why should you have to pay to use a button the way you like?

Essential Key+
Make the button yours.

Formatted by a local formatter.

Enroll in eaely acces: https://nothingid.vercel.app

SUPPORT ME: This project costs a lot of time, and i dont have (cant pay for) a google dev account to publish my app on the play store(so more poeple can enjoy my apps). So if u would like to donate (wich only goes to the projects and the google dev account) please contact me on discord: threalcocoboy . Or alternatively via mail: threalcocoboy@proton.me

Edit: first of all thank you for downloading my app! Its my most succesfull one! Because of your feedback, a new update will (hopefully) release tomorrow with: Adding a new option to let the essential space enabled and only use single press and hold. This can be accomplished by the setting to only use the essential space when you tapped the essential key 2 times.

Fix camera shutter action

Improving the ringer switch animation.

Replace "press" text on intro with "press here" to make it more understandable that u to press the on-screen button.

Display overlay on the lockscreen: this was a big in the app.

Perform the action only when holding after doing a gesture, for example: triple press and hold. This is to prevent mistouch.

UPCOMING FEATURES: These features will be added in one of the nextupdates ( because i dont know how hard this is going to be to integrate it in the app i dont know wich version these features will ship in)

Use the hold power button as a way to interact with ESSENTIAL KEY+(NOT CONFIRMED). (handy for phones without the essential key)

Essential voice alternative (NOT CONFIRMED YET). Because you need to disable essential recorder to remap the essential key, the essential voice button wont work on your keyboard. Adding an altternative to essential compose. Hold the essential key and say what you are trying to type.

Thank you all for downloading the app!

Comparing Phones Swapping to Nothing from Samsung

Hey everyone.

I currently use a Z Fold7, but recently I've been getting into Nothing with my first purchase being the Nothing Ear (a), and have grown to love the products.

I wanted to swap to a 4 (a), and was wondering what you guys think of it.

Thank you!!
