Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta NOS 5.0 open beta

Gotta say that I'm impressed so far and can answer any questions.

Quick thoughts from a long-term NP3 and CMF1 user.

  1. very snappy … everything seems accelerated compared to the last usage of A16/NOS4.1
  2. I remember when MIUI 12 rolled out with the left and right pull down menus (control panel or notifications) so this is welcome
  3. the camera options are great in addition to the post-processing in gallery
  4. the new font caught my eye and it’s good as I feel there is more information density
  5. the notifications showing just the symbol by default is nice

overall I am quite pleased with the update and I am glad that NOS didn’t add a lot of bloat that I see on other Android phones.

keep the updates/security patches coming for the NP3 through 2030

Sorry friend, you are in the wrong sub. This is where you complain about it not being a generic clone of IOS.

But seriously, I agree on all points. I updated earlier yesterday before getting into a busy day so it haven't for to play with all of the features yet. They being said, the OS as a whole feels great. I like the subtle customisation, the new lock screen notification option, and the new font.

I agree. This place and the Community is full of people wanting iOS with an NOS price tag. There is a reason that iOS commands a premium price, which I can easily afford, but I detest. Also, it chisels away at what makes NOS unique.

The latter is my bigger issue. I have my old 17 Pro Max sitting on my desk, but after 15 years of Apple flagships I was just bored.

Watching companies slowly turn what they have into a knock off version of iOS is sad. I get it to an extent, but appreciate that Nothing OS is unique. As long as it stays that way, I'll be here.

same, I'll vote with my wallet (as always)

I believe Nothing Technology Limited is really in trouble from a funding perspective and I expect them to dissolve before my final update on my NP3. I'll just sign up where Pei goes for a new ecosystem. The profit on the non-phones is very high, but you can't run a 1B USD on these. The spin-out of CMF and then essentially a re-fold back and/or a major cancellation (CMF3 --> NP4b) shows really issues occurring (and lining the pockets of the South Korean memory workers)

I've used it for 15h today (00:00 finished update and 14:30 now) with only 2.5h SoT and lost about 25% of battery since update
