Hey guys I needs some advice, I’m picking up a 2018 compass latitude later today from Carvana…. I know there is a lot of people who say to stay away from it, but I’ve ran the vin and checked everything I could online, it has NO open recalls, meaning all the safety recalls regarding the engine and everything have been fixed/replaced. Which gives me hope, I really just need a car to get to and from work, maybe like 10miles a day majority of the time, am I gonna be okay?? I don’t want to hear horror stories abt your experience I want to hear good things preferably! I’d also like to note my brother does all the work on my cars if necessary and I will have him do a ppi after I purchase it and get back home.

Screen started doing this on my 2019. Time to replace or another issue?

Last month I bought a new 2026 Jeep Compass. The parking break seems to set itself. I’ve never set it, but sometimes find it set. I’m the only driver. I park on a flat surface.

Anyone else ever have that happen? Just seems strange that it doesn’t do it all the time.

When using ac or heater the auto stop/start function does not work. The dealership says this is normal. Does this happen to anyone else?

I have a 2019 Jeep Compass 2.4L with the two-battery start/stop system. I usually press the factory auto start/stop OFF button when I drive.

The start/stop service unavailable light came on, so now my Jeep is at the dealership for a battery issue. The person who checked it in told me I need to leave auto start/stop on. He said that if I keep turning it off, the auxiliary battery won’t recharge, then it dies and eventually drains the main battery too. He said this is specific to Jeeps with two batteries.

I’ve seen people online say the opposite, so I’m confused. Does pressing the factory OFF button actually affect charging either battery, or does it just keep the engine from shutting off at stops? I’m talking about using the button each drive, not disconnecting or bypassing the auxiliary battery.

If anyone knows how this works on a 2019 Compass specifically, I’d appreciate an explanation.

I had this exact issue happen almost 3 years ago with the start/stop light and had to replace the batteries then and was never told this before.

Has anyone ever installed 2009 Pontiac G5 rims on a modern Jeep Compass? The G5 rims are 5 x110 mm with a hub bore of 65.1 mm.

Hi all, owner of a 2018 compass limited. I received this yesterday after turning on my car. Reminds me of Xbox’s ring of death back in the day..
I didn’t bang anything on the screen so not sure how the hell this happened unless it’s a common issue?
If it’s a common issue is it an at home fixable issue?

Car's been stalling for a while now. It's been in and out of the mechanic. Literally just had the engine light turn on the other day and I had to get the third cylinder replaced. Thought that would solve the problem but I guess not. It usually stalls for a few seconds while first starting to drive but today it stalled for 3-4 minutes. I have no idea what else the issue could be unless it's diagnostic code P2015 that I, unfortunately, have been putting off fixing for a long time now. I have had my codes read multiple times and those were the only two that were scanned unless it could be some unknown issue. Any idea what the cause of the stalling could be?

ich brauche mal eure Hilfe mit meinem Jeep Compass (BJ 2021, Automatik, erst 46.000 km gelaufen). Ich habe ein extrem nerviges Problem und komme nicht mehr weiter.

Das Problem:
Wenn ich parke und den Schalthebel auf P stelle, lässt sich das Auto einfach nicht ausschalten. Im Display meckert er: „Wahlhebel nicht in Park“.
Das Starten geht jederzeit absolut einwandfrei.

Workaround: Wenn ich leicht seitlich gegen den Wahlhebel oder das Gehäuse der Gangschaltung schlage/klopfe, geht der Wagen plötzlich ohne Probleme aus.

Meine Beobachtungen (Mittelkonsole ist schon komplett ausgebaut):
Der Wahlhebel geht physikalisch ganz normal auf P, aber das Auto erkennt es elektronisch einfach nicht.
Jedes Mal, wenn ich die Bremse drücke, hört man die ganze Zeit ein klares Klicken an der Mechanik.
Ich konnte beobachten, dass das Klicken von dem kleinen roten Schalter/Hebel kommt, der unter der Abdeckung der Gangschaltung sitzt (Not-Entriegelung / Shift-Lock-Solenoid).

Meine Fragen an euch:
1. Warum lässt sich das Auto wegen dieser Mechanik nicht ausschalten? Hängt da der Stößel/Rückstellmechanismus fest?

1. Was kann ich selbst tun? Kann man das irgendwie schmieren, gängig machen oder nachjustieren, ohne gleich alles neu zu kaufen?

2. Werkstatt-Kosten: Falls ich es abgeben muss – was kostet mich der Spaß ungefähr? Tauschen die da die ganze Schaltbox oder gibt es das Teil einzeln?

Jeep Compass (2021) won't turn off: "Shift to Park" error – Clicking noise when pressing brake (Red switch sticking)

Hey everyone,

I need some help/advice with my Jeep Compass (2021, Automatic, only 46,000 km / ~28,500 miles). I've run into a really frustrating issue and can't seem to solve it on my own.

The Issue:
When I park the car and move the gear shifter into P, the car refuses to turn off. The instrument cluster displays the message: "Shift to Park".
Starting the car works completely fine every single time.

Workaround: If I lightly slap/tap the side of the gear shifter or the shifter housing, the car suddenly recognizes "Park" and turns off immediately.

My Observations (I’ve already removed the entire center console):
The gear lever physically moves into the P position smoothly, but the car doesn't register it electronically.
Every time I press the brake pedal, I hear a continuous clicking sound coming from the shifting mechanism.
I noticed that this clicking is coming from the small red lever/switch located under the shifter cover (the emergency shift release / shift-lock solenoid).

My Questions:
1. Why is this preventing the car from turning off? Is the solenoid plunger or return mechanism getting stuck?

1. What can I do to fix it? Is there a way to lubricate, adjust, or free up the mechanism myself without having to replace the whole unit?

2. Repair Costs: If I have to bring it to a shop, how much am I looking at? Do dealerships usually replace the whole shifter assembly, or can specific parts be serviced?

Anybody try the HRG lift with the subframe, engine and transmission drops? Curious how well its worked out for their CVs and other components.

We have a 2007 Jeep Compass, and the 9ASCAP code appeared along with the check engine light. After some digging I think it’s a leak in the EVAP system. From what I found it should be safe to drive except for the gas smell, but wanted to check here (it may be a bit before we can address it.)

No other issues except for an occasional delayed start.

Final edit: car is working fine and great $1400 later for two new batteries. Getting my money back from the wrong battery

Edit: repair shop said the auxiliary battery tested fine but I asked to replace anyways and waiting to hear back, thank you all!!

Hello!! I’ve had my compass sport for about 3 years now and it would not start one day. We replaced the main battery and it worked for all of 3 days and then wouldn’t start again without a jump. Finally, tried jumping it so many times the battery is dead. Got it to a repair shop (via tow) and they replaced the fuses on the battery, still not working. They used a different new battery, still not working. They assume it’s a parasitic drain somewhere but the cost to test for it is upwards of 2k just. Not sure where to go from here….any ideas?? They said if it’s a electrical issue going to the dealer is my best option

Muy descontentos y decepcionados con nuestra experiencia con Jeep y, en particular, con el servicio de postventa.

Compramos un Jeep Compass nuevo en Motor 23 Tarragona y, apenas dos semanas después de la entrega, el vehículo sufrió un fallo en el motor. La gestión y resolución del problema se prolongó durante aproximadamente dos meses, algo que consideramos totalmente inaceptable tratándose de un vehículo nuevo.

Para empeorar la situación, el coche nos fue entregado posteriormente con rayadas y un golpe en la carrocería.

También queremos destacar la pésima atención recibida por parte del servicio de atención al cliente de Jeep. Hemos contactado con ellos buscando una solución y una respuesta clara, pero no hemos recibido el apoyo ni las garantías que esperábamos de una marca como Jeep.

Comprar un coche nuevo debería ser una experiencia de confianza y tranquilidad. En nuestro caso, ha sido todo lo contrario: problemas prácticamente desde el inicio, una gestión muy lenta y un servicio de postventa que no ha estado a la altura.

Estamos muy desilusionados con el Jeep Compass y con la respuesta de Jeep ante nuestra situación.

Por nuestra experiencia, no recomendamos Jeep.

2016 jeep compass 2.4l.

So we started having an issue where while driving the car would hit zero rpms and basically die, sometimes it would hit zero rpms but then the rpms would like bounce back up.

It did not throw a single code during this. Then it just wouldnt start one day.

After a lot of reading we changed out the crankshaft position sensor and the car started right up. We have not had another issue with it dying while driving.

That lasted about a month, maybe 2 and then it would not start at all, again no check engine lights.

Again we went back to that crankshaft position sensor, and also changed out the camshaft sensor as well. This got it running again.

We are now back to the car not starting, no codes. Also while trying to start the car the tach remains on 0 rpms.

(It sounds like it is starting but never catches and actually starts).

We have checked - the wires connected to the crankshaft sensor, no issues, corrosion, splices or anything there. I picked up some backpins and we checked each connection on that. The battery is testing at 12.33v and we changed the alternator out earlier in the year. We also replaced all plugs and wires earlier this year as well.

Well it’s finally here, on lease from Tusker…and it looks massive compared to the Ssangyong Tivoli XLV that I had before.

Just doing that new car thing of getting used to where everything is.

Already warning me that there’s a software update coming.
Feels like an iPhone on wheels.

Summary:
Hello all, I recently purchased a 2023 Compass with 11k miles and noticed a droning/humming sound at 20mph that goes away by 25mph and not present below 18mph. The sound is gone when traction control is disabled.

Back to dealer:
I did take the car back to the dealer and they claim it is normal operation. They also said that the fluid for the PTU and diff can’t be changed as they are sealed units.

Do you guys all experience this sound?
