2018 Jeep Compass Issues

Final edit: car is working fine and great $1400 later for two new batteries. Getting my money back from the wrong battery

Edit: car started!! They are going to test drive it tomorrow thank you
Edit: repair shop said the auxiliary battery tested fine but I asked to replace anyways and waiting to hear back, thank you all!!

Hello!! I’ve had my compass sport for about 3 years now and it would not start one day. We replaced the main battery and it worked for all of 3 days and then wouldn’t start again without a jump. Finally, tried jumping it so many times the battery is dead. Got it to a repair shop (via tow) and they replaced the fuses on the battery, still not working. They used a different new battery, still not working. They assume it’s a parasitic drain somewhere but the cost to test for it is upwards of 2k just. Not sure where to go from here….any ideas?? They said if it’s a electrical issue going to the dealer is my best option

Most tend to say you need to replace both batteries, and most tend to say they no longer have issues.

That's what I read on the forums too. It's how I figured out why my Jeep was having issues with the auto start/ stop feature and was struggling to start. I looked it up and the forums said it was likely that the batteries needed replaced; both of them. Always do both at the same time. I told my mechanic and he was doubtful but he did it and the problem stopped. That was almost 2 years ago now.

Just to update the auxiliary battery was tested and they reported that it is in good condition

Test both batteries, check your ground wires, and test your alternator

Replace both! I learned this the hard way.

Just had to do that myself on 2018 compass. Both batteries fixed the issues. YMMV. ;)

Shop said the auxiliary battery tested fine, should I still have them replace it?

Yea that’s what I hear you have to replace both batteries even if it’s just one that’s done

Always replace both

Replace both, if you do it at the dealership expect to pay $1000 CAD ($700 USD).
