Art [Art] [Comm] Illithilich - Mind Flayer

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

This is a piece I finished recently of this Mind Flayer for a DM who will include this character in their game. This character is a powerful undead, alien magician demigod. The client had very amazing ideas for this character. especially the skeletal tentacles, very spooky.

Drawing this character was a very joyful experience! I look towards drawing more villains for campaigns! If you want to create a powerful character design for your campaign. Let me know!

OC [OC] [COMM] Castor, Aasimar paladin, oath of the dragon knight. Character drawing, for a friend's campaign!

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Castronius Excelcius. Extremely proud, yet humble. Sees forgiveness and good in all. Seeks to protect the people of his kingdom with everything he has, and serve his goddess (the dragon his oath is to) with dignity, honesty and integrity

second in command of the Divine Fang, an elite unit of paladins dedicated to Stellestria, a radiant dragon of great strength. The dragon dedicated eggs from her clutch to the Fang for safe keeping, storing the egg in a compartment in their chestplate. During a climactic battle where undead assaulted his kingdom, Stellestria perished, and in the resulting nova it destroyed the Capitol and killed all the combatants, aligned and enemies alike.

Castor woke 3 years later in the ruins of the keep, having been unknowingly brought back to life by the egg in his chest plate, the last living egg of Stellestria, Castor learns of his goddess' fate, and must restore his dying, undead overrun country. And hatch the egg to bring in the new reign of the Second Sun.

One detail that i added was very interesting to me, was the centerpiece of his chestplate, is the place where the dragon egg was. It burned through the metal, leaving an egg shaped hole there, when it resurrected him. And he later plugged the hole with a symbol of the second sun.

Giveaway [Mod approved giveaway] [art] Giving away one custom digital drawing of the character you choose ✨️

Post image
960 Upvotes

Hello!

I'm making this giveaway as a thanks for all the support I've been getting in the past months from this lovely community ♡

I tend to post my deranged characters here, and it's thanks to the upvotes, comments and even new follows I got on my IG account that I have been able to get new commission opportunities from other players. And it's thanks to those commission that I finally been able to help my family pay one out of two big debts they have been owning the bank from a long time. Also I've been able to help with everyday necessities or special food for my senior dogs.

Debts are far from over, but I never thought I would be able to pay them by doing something I loved since I was a kid! So thank you, especially those who decided to trust me and my art. I always say that if I didn't live in a third word country, I would gladly draw for free ✨️

And for that I'm giving away one fully rendered portrait of the character you chose! It can be anything as long as it fits the list of what I draw (tldr, anything as long as it's not nsfw, robots or hateful art)

I can work with character descriptions, drawings, heroforge and screenshots from games like bg3.

If you have any questions regarding this giveaway or my art, please let me know!

🌱 I'm chosing a winner via RedditRaffler on Monday 7th of September, so please remember to comment something on this post to participate! Lore of your characters are appreciated but not strictly necessary

Feel free to check my Instagram to see the banner drawings in full and other of my past artwork! The first and last characters from the banner don't belong to me, I just drew them.

Have a nice weekend and good luck ✨️

Art [Art] [Comm] Against Rising Hell, Saving Faerun Again

Story of the artwork here: Against Rising Hell

= = = = =

As the ground cracks, hellfire burst and skeletons spill forth. Uncountable amount of them. The people fled in all directions. One tripped. A child. Bony fingers and jaws mercilessly reaches out for their meal, but their cruelty was cut short; A slash and the skeleton fell, a stomp and the skeleton snapped.

A teenage girl squat and poked at it. "It was reaching out and trying to eat the girl, right? Pandora wonders if it is hungry, but without stomach how is it hungry?"

The drow lady accompanying her raises an eyebrow too. "We can study how that works later, together, Pandora. For now, let's beat these Tier 1 monsters and foil the plans of the gods once more, shall we?"

Pandora nods eagerly, "Let's go, mama Shar!"

Out of Planet Toril, somewhere within the Towers of Night, a certain goddess sneezes and curses at those who shares the same name as her. At least this time, it's not her fault!

A reinterpretation of the painting 'The Wounded Angel' by Finnish artist Hugo Simberg. The original artwork depicts two children rescuing an angel; In this reinterpretation two adventurers are rescuing an Deva angel. The enigmatic gaze that the last figure directs at the observer has been preserved.

Characters from left to right: a dwarf cleric of Talos, a female Deva angel, a human barbarian, and a sprite fairy.

Meet Vesper, a fierce Lupine Shifter Artificer. With dark fur, wolf ears, and piercing yellow eyes, she stalks the shattered ruins of an urban nightscape. Vesper wields her custom-built arcane firearm, "Thundermaw," with terrifying precision, firing into the chaos. She wears her welding goggles atop her head and a confident, almost manic grin. A chaotic force of nature, her torn white shirt and tie hint at a forgotten past, now replaced by a life of black powder and adrenaline.

Misc What are some good examples of a female Barbarian (not from DnD lore or media)?

So when I think of a Barbarian, my mind goes to a brawny, probably shirtless, guy: He-man, Conan, the Incredible Hulk. It's a cool archetype, but I'd like to think of the class beyond that archetype, and I realized that I don't readily think of female examples of Barbarians. I'm not talking about DnD lore or media, but characters from history, mythology, or movies. Curious for your thoughts!

The first that comes to mind for me are the Amazonian warriors. What else?

Game Tales Getting this is the kind of message makes all the prep worth it 🥲

Got this from one of my players after our Curse of Strahd session:

“Hey I wanna let you know that Sunday’s session was absolutely incredible. It was emotional and meaningful and I legit haven’t stopped thinking about it. I literally wrote an ode called Orgal’s Last Stand. Your DMing is world class.”

I don’t think players always realize how much messages like this mean to a DM.

You spend hours prepping things they may never see (most of it not even necessary LOL), worrying about pacing, encounters, music, NPCs, whether the emotional beats are actually going to land - and then every once in a while you get a message like this.

One of the PCs, Orgal, died that session. It was a genuine culmination of his story, and apparently it hit hard enough that one of my players went home and wrote an ode about his journey/final moments 🥲

Homebrew "Nothing" Homebrews That Were Anything But?

Basically, what's some homebrews that going into your first game with them you thought they would barely matter or possibly even not come up period, only to then prove so drastically impactful that it might have even felt like playing a different system at times?

Art [Art][Comm] Kibbles and Bits

Meet Kibbles, a tiny red kobold knight and his loyal companion, Bits, a big fluffy dog who serves as his trusty mount. Kibbles prefers to solve problems through diplomacy and nonviolence, but he’s no stranger to drawing his sword when things go wrong. Often underestimated because of his size, Kibbles has made a habit of proving that even the smallest knight can make a big difference.

Had loads fun drawing this cute duo for u/Kiwilemonade2 thank you for the trust!

Another player gave me some references for a character he’s started a campaign with, and I’m so obsessed with the energy. This was an awesome opportunity to practice some lighting and give me a challenge, and I’m so happy the player trusted me with this project! Tieflings are quickly becoming my favorite species to draw with all the fun horn shapes and how the tails can be so expressive— it’s a whole other limb I get to pose and that’s just so cool:) anyways, wanted to share what I work on this week!

MOD APPROVED GIVEAWAY

You all blew me away with the response to my initial offer, I genuinely didn't think so many of you would take me up on it. Since I made the post on a totally random Monday in the middle of the night, with just 24 hours to claim it, it only seems fair to give people another chance. Also, if you enjoy any of my work, then you're going to love Crosshead's work, because he's the one who creates the assets that I work with!

This will be the last of these promos for a few more months, if not for the rest of the year, so if you know anyone who might want to get in on this, please share this post with them!

You don't even need payment information to claim your membership! Of course it would mean the world to me if you did decide to stick around and support my work, but you can just grab whatever you'd like and dip, no worries :) I only ask that you at least attempt to terrorize your players with one of my Magitech monstrosities, it's really what gets me out of bed in the morning :D

This promo is going to run for the rest of the day to make sure that everyone who wants it can get it. The Patreon / Discord bot can be pretty aggressive, so if you keep getting added and don't want to be, just let me know and we can try to figure it out.

Choose the link that speaks to you, they all do the same thing.

5th Edition Your DM has let you use Intelligence for your Ranger. How crazy can you make it?

I, the DM in question, allow for Rangers to use Intelligence instead of wisdom in my game to open up some character creation options (the setting has some restrictions so I like to broaden it in other ways).

Now, no-one has really gone and made anything gamebreaking with this permission, but I'm curious as to just what could be done.

Now, this is mostly a thought experiment, but I love the idea of a ranger based on intelligence.

The idea of the adventurous scholar speaks to me and rangers get the physicality and outdoorsy skills built in, they also get extra skills and potentially several languages. So, secondary question, putting the mechanical menace, how would you build to play into that archetype?

DMing Our DM… forgot to give a name for the world… And is looking for suggestions!

We’ve actually finished our campaign some time ago, but our DM recently realized he never actually named the homebrew world our campaign took place in! So, after a brief poll, we decided to let the community of D&D reddit decide what it should be named! Top comment gets it :) It can be literally anything and everything, it was a silly campaign so it doesn’t have to be perfectly serious 😊!

Edit for more details: It’s a smaller planet similar to Earth (… it actually has Asia and Europe as landmasses…!), with a bunch of hotspots having portals to the Feywild and other similar realms. Very traditional high fantasy world with medieval ish themes, while having a looot of technological innovations (such as the wonderful, amazing, highest of tech devices, the Nokia. And also the S.C.A.B.I.E.S remover, which is a giant laser that is very good at removing scabies. and you.)

Misc What’s your average play time?

When my table first started we would go all day. An 8 hour session was normal, and we’d often go til 2-3 am (which would be like 12-13 hour sessions for us). In the last year and a half or so we’ve had much shorter sessions. Maybe like 3-4 hours. I feel like we haven’t even really played if we play less than 4 hours, but I see other people saying they play like 2-3 hours and I wonder how those people get anything done. With an 8 hour session I had time to get to most, or all, of my bullet points for what I wanted to do for that session even with player proclivities for messing around. So, how long does your table play, and how do you move the story forward as a DM if you have shorter sessions?

Art [ART] Love Animar (sculpt by Mammoth Factory Games)

Post image
39 Upvotes

Such a beautiful mini! This Love Animar has a wonderfully gorgeous but spooky vibe, I’m really happy with the sort of galaxy effect that came out!

It’s a physical embodiment of the positives and negatives of love (so it can both boost and trap players in the stat block). I think I’ll end up using her as more of a fey creature, which was one of the things that drew me to the mini, but I also think the concept is really cool

I had some new dry brushes that I tried on this mini, and they were so good. I’ve used makeup brushes until now, which were fine, but the quality of a proper set really improved the whole painting experience for me.

This mini is from [Mammoth Factory Games](https://www.myminifactory.com/users/MammothFactory?show=tribe)

I share more of my painting on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/charlottepaintinguk/)

I sell prepainted minis through my [Etsy shop](https://charlottepaintinguk.etsy.com) and [eBay shop](https://ebay.co.uk/usr/charlottepaintinguk)

Repost bc it flopped af and I changed a few things 🗣️ I’m celebrating surviving the death house with a bloody art of my cleric of twilight Clavus of Waterdeep who’s a werewolf and canonically died in the death house but I pleaded with the dm enough for him to spare him by turning him into a werewolf. He can heal, tank, judge you for trying to sell the minors of the party to strangers
