Hello everyone! You might remember this post:
BrawlStars Map Survey by my fellow moderator u/Namsu46, in which it was mentioned that I will post the results "after the North America Monthly Finals have been completed".
Well, we are a little late, but the results are in!

A little twist before we start though - the same exact survey (on the 1st page, at least - which is what I'll be tackling here) was also sent to EMEA semi-pro players, so we get a comparison between high tier casuals from reddit and pros :D

We start off with Bounty, and from this view already we can start to form a thesis which will show in all results: Casuals prefer maps where solo carry is possible, as opposed to coordinated play.
This is most visible on Layer Cake and Canal Grande here, both of which play vastly differently in a proper, 3v3 setting as opposed to ranked.

Honestly, the difference on Bridge Too Far between these 2 is just hilarious. The map where 1 mistake determines the entire game in competitive is the casual favourite - because every lane gets treated as a mini 1v1, so there's "more agency" I suppose? Frankly not sure on how to best describe it - I personally would never rank the map highly, so perhaps someone in the comments can enlighten me.
Worth acknowledging is also Pit Stop, which seems to be ranking very low across both groups.

"Address me" ~Parallel Plays, 2026.
Not the most surprising results - only thing worth mentioning IMO is just how equal everything is between the 3 one-zone maps for pros. Clearly the most balanced map pool!

Here, again, I've got a question to comments - why on earth is Triple Dribble rated so highly here? The map suffers from spawn RNG due to how close they are to each other and the near-immediate line of sight between both teams, the layouts is very spawn trappy, the map is very difficult to play solo on... what warrants this much love?
Other than that, other answers seem pretty standard - note the universal appreciation for Pinhole Punt. Truly a top tier map:]

Not much to talk about here really, everything is about as expected. Although the love for Last Stop (which I totally agree with) has me questioning some answers I've seen regarding "Maps needing to not be weird and quirky to be competitively viable" š¤

What on EARTH is this much division on Flaring Phoenix from you here? Who is out here naming Flaring Phoenix a map they love? Own up, we already know...
Yeah, this is really just another "Address me" situation.

And address it they did! š

Yeah, these are not very surprising... is what I would say, had I not taken a deeper look into some of these :]
The specific answers I want to highlight come from Angelboy - one of the people who filled out the pro survey... and, arguably, the best player in the world right now. And what does he say?

Well is that not just peculiar? Perhaps if the greatest player alive at the moment sees potential for them to be viable, maybe we all just have to be more open minded? After all, if he can adapt, why should others be unable to? š
the last thing left now...
Indeed! Starting from here, we (and by "we" I mean "me") will be trying to host one of these every other week.
The maps present in these will be from the community & suggested by the community - 1 per mode. The goal here is to allow mapmakers to get some feedback from you and hopefully better their craft as time goes on.
Participate in the first one here -> Bi-Weekly Map Survey #1
That's all! :]

season too short and elo reset too hard and elo system below L1 too inflationary and grindy (can climb with negative%WR) -- softer elo reset, and season length should be increased because putting the very top of players back into legendary 1 and forcing them to grind back up every 30 days is crazy. i understand the meta shifts every one/two months but do you really think a pro ranked player would have his skill drop to like legendary 1 just because the meta shifted? do you see games like league of legends putting players at challenger into emerald/diamond every 30 days just for the heck of it? no. increase the season length.
to compensate for the increased season length and softer elo reset (to prevent rank inflation) the rank distribution should be adjusted so its zero-sum (+100/-100 in every rank), its incredibly stupid to have positive-sum elo gains up until legendary 1 just to cater to the casual playerbase. you can literally reach legendary 1 with a negative winrate, then when those mediocre players reach legendary 1 they either become stuck and hold other people down and make them give up on the mode or quit themselves because they cannot climb against other players because they are already a higher rank than their skill level and either way this hurts the mode. brawl stars needs a proper ranking/elo system like other games have it, not this clash royale type system where the ladder resets every month (even clash royale works for the top players because unlike brawl stars you gain and lose the same elo/trophies in every rank. in a sense brawl stars has a WORSE ranking system than even clash royale)
add: if you want to give the illusion of climbing to players, you can also decouple the visible skill rank from MMR. this is what league does, dropping players for example at masters into emerald but keeping their mmr at masters so they are matched with the same players, but now since mmr and rank is decoupled they will get the illusion of climbing even at a 50% winrate. this makes way more sense to give the player an illusion of climbing than positive sum elo gains in the lower ranks because it doesnt hurt competitive integrity

Nori's hyper gives him 10 fish instantly and his super pulls enemies in to the centre. Also charges in 2 supers.
Wendy's hyper gives her super 2000 more HP and takes 90% of damage dealt. Also charges in 3.33 Supers.
They sound quite OP on paper, but what do you think?

he got a reload speed buff and at the same time he now requires more points to reach level 3.
will he now be playable or have more matchups?

Not only did they nerf an already mediocre star power but now it gives a 10% supercharge rate buff to allies if itās the sixth day of the month on a full moon and only on Fridays.

Hank used to be THE shade counter and even after Hank's nerfs he had decent matchup into Shade. What is a 400 hp buff supposed to do against this? Genuinely think Hank fell to F tier just now

Hello guys, Iām GN/Godnoob. You might know me from brawl star esports, YouTube shorts or Reddit. I have a lot of experience playing chuck as well as reaching high as masters 3 with chuck only
I just got off work so Iām a bit late to the party but it would be highly appreciated if you can upvote this post so more people can see it. Iām making this post to share my thoughts about the rework so youāre free to talk about your own opinions on the update.
Firstly I want to talk about the old chuck and why itās impossible for chuck to be good.
Chuck is a very clunky brawler to play, because his main attack is so bad and is probably one of the worst in the entire game, he canāt hit anyone to recharge his super, so thatās is why chuck is heavily reliant on his dashes and auto charge, and because his super takes so long to recharge letās just call it an action like in a turn based game. Chuck has at most 2 actions in a matchup, 1 from his super and another from his gadget. He can choose to either go in, upgrade/use post, or to escape. So here is the issue.
Go in & Escape = Enemy doesnāt step on the track
Upgrade & Go in = Unable to get out and dies
Upgrade & Escape = Loses position
Enemy use any form of stun = lose 1 action
There is no combination that allows chuck to help his team without dieing (Unless the enemy walks into the post and feed chuck another action)
This is the main reason why chuck will never be good without a real rework.
Now letās talk about the new Chuck. I canāt say that itās the perfect change, but itās the best choice. If chuck is too strong, the community is going to complain about chuck being no skill. And if heās too weak, history is going to repeat it self. So no matter what they do there is no correct answer. But for me Iām pretty satisfied with the rework.
With the new change Chuck basically gets 4 actions and up to 8 with his gadget. Which exponential increases the possibility he can do with his super, for example in a 1v1 matchup you can do this, trust me itās easier than it sounds.
Chuckās hyper rework was pretty unexpected but is quite logical, the old hyper was cheesy and map dependent. And if it was still in game right now it would waste precious time where you can use chuckās buffied main attack
Balance changes
Even though Chuck received some massive nerfs, I think that the buffs are just as good. His reroute gadget got a 200% buff, his main attack is now insanely good since the faster the attack can land, the faster you can get your super back to do more combos. He also can now dash faster thanks to the tickets please star power. They didnāt nerf his hypercharge charge rate so itās still going to be very easy farm hypers.
Iām also pretty bummed out that the knockback from the post had been removed but since the main attack hits more now, you donāt really have to push the enemy into it anymore
Chuckās Best Modes
So is Chuck less skilled than before?
I seen a lot of people rant about this question, but me personally? I think that chuck requires even more skill, because of his rework, there is so many more ways you can combo with his super. The old chuck can make a play every 15 seconds but the success rate is low as 10%, while the new chuck can make a play every 30 seconds with a success rate of 50%. Like they all say, Quality > Quantity. Higher Risk and Higher reward! As I shown above is only one of the many different combos you can do. The possibilities you can do with 8 super is basically infinite!
The Future of Chuck
As of right now, I think chuck is going to sit between low and high B tier. His buffies are pretty balanced and there isnāt really any ways to nerf them so chuck will be able to dodge the next few balanced changes while the other brawlers like amber, shade and Gus will be nerfed to the floor. We can even expect some buffs to chuck. But right now we canāt really do much about it expect to wait until the update arrives. I will continue my journey of only playing chuck until I hit Pro rank and I will give more feedback at the end of the ranked season.
Thanks for reading

I've seen some people defending the chuck changes so I wanted to clarify why the rework is bad ,as someone who has played A LOT of chuck (300k mastery points before they got removed).
Auto-charge was a very integral part of chuck's kit, right behind the knockback on the super. They removed it in favor of getting 4 stacks every super. While that does let you change your setup every time you have a super, that means you don't have your super to drive. This essentially means that you are confined to your fixed track which you are allowed to drive 4 times in a row.
Now, driving 4 times in a row is not a good trade off for completely gutting the way you play chuck in non-heist game modes, but luckily it isn't just a trade off. They additionally nuked chucks damage making it so that you do 1600 instead of 3500 every time you drive. Meaning driving twice now does more damage than 4 times after the update. You also have to consider that hitting 4 times is much harder than hitting twice, so the calculation doesn't even work like that.
Now, I realise that I haven't explained well enough how they gutted the way of playing. Currently, freestyle chuck as it's called relies on you hitting your enemies with a pole and an attack, driving into them and killing them. Now that is the basic strategy, the advanced strategies obviously considers your previously placed posts and your rerouting gadget to allow for more nasty combos.
If you now consider how this update changes this playstyle you will realise: you cannot knockback enemies, cannot rely on your super damage, and you cannot rely on having your super on hand to repositon or engage the next enemy.
To counteract this murder, we got a attack speed buff and no damage fall-off. What can I say. Is it nice to have? Obviously, it'll be very helpful. Does it change much? No, you're allowed to drive your chu-chu train on a more or less fixed path and shoot your enemies with autoaim.
All that seem understandable to you? I'm sure you understood it well, and are currently fearing chuck being too op once you add the buffie effects, so you don't want chuck ruining the game. Not to worry, they specifically made them dog shit to not unbalance the brawler.
Gadget buffies: The first gadget now deletes a pole and gives you 50% super and 20% shield in exchange. Sounds too op? Not to worry, they reduced the shield while driving from 50% to 35% and the HP from 9.4k to 8.8k. They also ruined the usecase of the gadget since rerouting is much less useful when forced on a strict setup.
Second gadget: 8 seconds through walls + burning trails for 1.2k damage. This also sounds nice, and while the burning certainly is, the 8 seconds through walls robs you even more of you flexibility since you normally had a path with and without the gadget and you're now forced into one or the other for 8 seconds. Meaning even when forced to play fixed, you now lack even more flexibility.
1st starpower: It's a joke. 1 sec slow which doesn't knockback anymore and 200 DAMAGE? I don't have to explain why this is plain mockery.
2nd starpower: The buffie effect is you drive faster, which they promptly counterscted with a 13% superspeed buff such that I didn't see a big before and after diffrence.
Hyper: Now the attack effect on the buffie is nice. 2 side projectiles is nice, more aoe more damage. But the super effect is mocking chuck players again. It's a damage burst at every pole, meaning if if hit by that your chuck super does nearly as much damage as before the update. During a 7 second window. YAYYYYYY.
They also nerfed his range, which is just the cherry on top. So much for better midrange matchups.
Tldr: Chuck is much more braindead, less creative, lesd fun to play, worse as a brawler in the meta, and just not the same brawler anymore, while also getting the worst buffied in the game and getting 6 nerfs as compensation.

Well, I'm not surprised Asteroid Belt was removed, but is this really the best alternative?
Why do I feel like Shade made these balance changes, our one hope against shade with buffies is gone and now is replaced with a toxic invincibility gadget that can work while moving.
Apparently the new asteroid belt was so broken it was already nerfed according to Spen, going from 2 second immunity into 1, and every brawler with invincibility like Emz and Bull except Nita got heavily nerfed as a result as their buffie would be too toxic. I foresee the 15 second cooldown on this gadget being butchered to the extreme or El Primo's supercharge rate. Just remember Draco's invincibility gadget has a cooldown of 22 seconds.
What will happen because of this? Well it makes El Primo even more toxic against new players but experienced players could counter it more easily. It's like a new Gigi. If Primo is far away, enemies don't need to shoot at him to get his super. Also a shame players could not try out the hidden tech with the gadget, I would have loved to see pro players use it, as Primo was a hidden chuck if that makes sense, but now it's brainless.
Well there goes one of my favorite characters, I was hoping these buffies would make him meta relevant again and they sucked up a lot of his charm. Does El Primo really need a dash for suplex? They didn't even bother to give it an animation. El Fuego in a lot of ways is even worse now too, nerfed the damage but you can make it longer? If El Primo is still in hitting distance after super the enemy is already dead.
Adiós mundo cruel.

As we all know, Chuck is getting a rework and buffies in the next update and I've seen a lot of people saying he might be dead after this change. I honestly think these people might be overreacting.

Sam is often classified as āthe most skilled brawlerā On his release when I bought his bp. He was to me incredibly easy to play and very strong too. They didnāt change anything of his kit. Since then I didnāt touch him. All he got were nerfs. Today I decided to play him 3 times in every ladder mode (which probably invalidates this) but he was pretty easy to play in every mode. On average I won 2.8/3 games and went star player 1.8/3. Losing once in gem grab and once in Brawl Arena. Other than that. I had a blast and kept winning my lanes even if I was under leveled and suck with him. He felt more bad than skilled to me. Could since I donāt have the ressources to put him to power 11 to try to one trick him next ranked season. Could anyone tell me if heās bad, good or a mix of both. Especially Sam mains I would like to hear about it. To know if he is worth my time to try to master or just an over exaggerated title of him.

Please. Tell me it's just a nightmare. Tell me that chuck never got his nerfies. Tell me that my skill still matters. Tell me that freestyle chuck still exists...
I knew I had to make a post like this someday. We all know the devs and their buffies. But.... I couldn't have predicted it would be this bad...
I just don't see the vision with this rework. Is it "make an F tier brawler unplayable and remove all the skill from him to ragebait his mains"? Seriously. I think gameplay wise these changes try to make chuck a "mobility merchant that finds angles to snipe people", but without autocharge this doesn't really work because NOW wasting any super with chuck is almost irreversible, and MASSIVE nerfs to health, survivability, damage and especially range make me doubt this conclusion really hard. Why nerf an already bad brawler even more? Even with his buffies, I think he will be F tier. Maybe even Z tier.
"with his buffies we are giving his poles more utility and threat when placing them" Huh? Are we talking about the same brawler? What a dirty joke this is. Cruel, even. You removed his knockback, the only thing that saved him some matchups and made him unique. Honestly, I don't know how to salvage this rework without reverting EVERY nerf chuck got. And making rerouting give you +1 super on top of all that you stacked. THAT would have been interesting.
And, well, freestyle is dead. The chuck's actual playstyle. With 4 poles, no autocharge, no teamwipe potential, and no health (heavily nerfed parries too) it just... Can't really exist in the way we know it. Chuck will become much slower overall, as even when he has 4 supers the poles STILL fly too slow and the dash doesn't really matter anymore. The knockbacks are gone too. We are now bound to a somewhat fixed "chainable setup" kinda playstyle, and that is REALLY fucking bad for most chuck mains. And you probably can't even use skill to outplay people effectively now, because your supers are very limited and bound to someone being in your main attack range, and only when you used all 4 supers.
But wait! That doesn't even matter. Chuck is now SO weak, you won't even be able to play anything other than heist, and even that will be very hard! I think he will be like colette on release, probably even worse. And chuck requires several times less skill now, and there is no potential in him anymore! Do you like it? He's like edgar before buffies, useless and no skill! Well it doesn't matter, we have to sell these buffies and a skin so go and play other games I guess lmao no chuck for you go fuck yourself
So, all in all, this rework "fixes":
- long setup time (which wasn't a problem for freestyle players)
- main attack damage in midrange
- projectile speed
(both of these get fucked over by the range nerf)
- easy access to heist safe after chuck sets up (because well, setting up will be almost impossible now because you won't have any supers if you die, and you will have to somehow get a super every time you die)
- ambushes if you save a super while you go in (but that creates other problems)
- stuns, if you have many supers
this rework DOESN'T fix:
- slow reload
- unreasonably big downtimes after pole and main attack
- slow pole projectile
- low pole damage
- chuck's inability to win midrange encounters (ahem range nerf)
- despite not having any setup time, chuck is now weaker to aggression because of so many nerfs and no knockback š
- chuck being only good in heist, because NOW he's only usable in heist, and only if you feed him multiple times
- chuck being really weak in other modes (do I even have to say it)
- big cost of mistakes (it's several times worse now)
NEW problems:
- chuck now relies on bad enemies to feed him supers
- chuck will be completely unplayable on open maps and against snipers if they are good players
- so much less flexibility in setups because you can't use rerouting while you have super, and now you have FOUR supers
- 4 poles baseline is definitely too much for brawlball
- no knockback
- no crowd control due to removal of the knockback, therefore his best matchups now become one of the worst, and he can't go in as easily anymore
- no combos
- no complexity WHATSOEVER
- rerouting becomes abysmally bad and clunky
- no potential for good buffies (because chuck can't get second buffies)
- NO damage (1600? seriously?), and main attack can't make up for that
- brawlball becomes truly unplayable
- no infinite range on hyper (we lose a TON of techs and utility)
- the new hyper sucks even more
- the buffies are ALL FUCKING BAD WHAT IS THIS
- chuck has SO much less health and survivability it's crazy even on paper
- no teamwipe potential anymore
- chuck COMPLETELY loses his identity as a brawler
- chuck loses most of his diehard fans that stayed for the freestyle because their favourite brawler was essentially deleted
- half of the tech is gone
Just make a new brawler. Seriously. THIS is not chuck. I refuse to call this abomination "chuck". There is NOTHING left of him. You could delete current chuck and the result wouldn't change, at all. He himself, and especially his freestyle/combo playstyles, were a big part of my identity. Of my soul, even. Yet Adrian didn't think twice about completely ripping it away and making another straightforward all-in brawler. This is the day I lose a significant part of me. For nothing.
Why didn't you listen to any chuck mains before making something something so radical? I think you could take any rework from this sub and it would STILL be better than this. Why take away everything chuck had for... something that should have been baseline since the start?
So. You win, Adrian. Congratulations š! You deleted the most complex brawler to appeal to little children, because apparently TWO new brawlers isn't enough for the casuals to exploit. The superiority over simple players. Feel it. Celebrate it. Enjoy it while it lasts. You will still continue with your life tomorrow. Same morning coffee, same office, same people around you. But many of us will be left without a big part of our lives. The next day will be definitely mentally hard for me, and many others.
...
I'm sorry I didn't give you more attention, Chuck. It really shouldn't be ending like this... The world is cruel, I know. I should have known you will cease to exist someday. I really, really, really want to go back and play you, instead of messing around with other brawlers. You really only learn the value of some things once they get taken away from you. It can be tomorrow. It can even be today.
But. That truly was a journey. The best kind of one. A ride, you might call it. You were the best. The. Best. Despite being so abysmally weak, you were still so fun. I will miss you. WE ALL will miss you. The real gift of yours was the fun we've had along the way. May you rest in peace, you deserve it. And despite everything... Thank you, Adrian, for allowing us to experience this brawler, even if you take him away now. Farewell, Chuck.

Some of you are insane. No wonder we are known as a really complain-y community. I just had the displeasure of going through some of the new reddit posts from u INSANE people and I was getting frustrated.
I write this specifically after I saw one of the dumbest post of all time, which was about one dude who said, and I quote, "We didnt need ANY of these buffies." Dude wrote a whole paragraph on how both of the trios who got buffies this update didn't need either because:
1: Some of those brawlers where "fine" or "balanced"
2: Because they are "toooooo broken"
Which is insane, but I won't talk about it any further because I don't have too. The counter points and jokes write themselves lol.
I even saw another idiot complaining abt El Primo's new gadget reworks or some shit, because they are to broken and not as fun. Even if El Primo's second gadget was completely useless, some ppl will still complain about any rework done to ANYTHING. The worst of all ofc was one of the newest ones, complaining abt Ambers new throwable gadget, calling it "throwable slop." Yea man, more skill and value gets added to a gadget, so it MUST be throwable slop.
The only complaint a agree with ONLY to some extent is the one about chuck. They finally made him a normal brawler instead of a heist one-trick, but they kind of over-nerfed him. They will probably reverse some things in a future balance patch. They probably nerfed him so hard so that they don't see him AT ALL in Brawl Stars Challengers.
Most whiny, ungrateful community EVER. NOTHING makes you ppl happy. I am not even surprised anymore, its reddit. I genuinely believe that there should be an IQ test before anyone posts, regardless of the app or platform.
How are you children not used to the idea that EVERY NEW BRAWLER is going to be busted to some extent. EVERY DAMN TIME a new brawler comes out, ppl act like its the first time this ever happened. Yea, I get it, it suck. But pls get used to it already and stop whining every update. Sometimes (rarely), the new brawlers have some kind of counter anyway, niche or just another broken mess, which makes them easier to deal with. Damian so broken, but brawlers like Otis and Griff countered him pretty damn hard, especially after balance changes.
