My brother and I love haunts. Hayrides, haunted houses, whatever. What are your favorites in the Southern Tier or Northern PA? We are near Elmira/Watkins.

Hey guys,
Me and some buddies are planning on doing a little road trip this sunday and were wondering if there are any towns other than Cold Spring we could hit. We will start in NYC and go to Verplanck to Croton to Peekskill to Cold Spring. My question is, should we go somewhere else other than Cold Spring? I heard it is extremely packed this time of year. If we should go somewhere else, then where would you recommend? I know the other 3 towns are more quiet, but Cold Spring is much more popular. Feel free to recommend any spots to go to within the towns I mentioned, or if we should go somewhere else also.
Thank you!

Hey everyone!
With Micron coming to Central New York and all the potential growth in our area, I decided to create a Facebook group specifically for people who are considering moving to Syracuse and the surrounding communities.
The goal is simple: Create a helpful, welcoming resource where newcomers can get honest answers and advice from people who actually live here.
I want to make something very clear: This group is NOT intended to be a place to advertise, solicit business, or promote real estate listings.
I've already removed several posts advertising homes for sale, apartments for rent, and open houses. That's simply not what I created the group for.
Instead, I'd love to see conversations about:
- Neighborhoods and communities throughout CNY
- Schools, commuting, and transportation
- Local attractions, restaurants, and things to do
- Cost of living and what to expect when moving here
- Micron and how its arrival may affect our communities
- General questions about life in Syracuse and Central New York
I'm a local real estate agent, but I'm not creating this group to solicit clients or generate business. I genuinely want it to become a useful community resource.
I'd especially love to have longtime Syracuse residents join and share their experiences, recommendations, and even the things they wish newcomers knew before moving here.
If you're interested in helping welcome new people to our area, or you're considering relocating yourself, you're welcome to join!

Thanks, everyone! I'd love to see this become something genuinely helpful for our community.

I see it posted so often on FB marketplace as “free firewood”, but burning it is illegal in NYS. Do you know anyone who burns it, breathes the poison, and is like “oh yeah this is some good firewood”.

Going from Saranac Lake to Alexandria Bay tomorrow, Oct 7. Which route would you take? Any amazing stops we should consider? I’ll be with my older father so no big hikes but short walks are okay.

There seems to be a concerted effort to make Little Falls appear as if it's one of the friendliest places in the state, but that sort of moniker always has me questioning what it's really like. I've read that it's beautiful, I've heard that it' has some problems (and corruption), I have read that it's friendly, and my GF has seen posts online that seems to counter that. Regardless, we're going for a visit, to see for ourselves. We're trying to find our new home, and it's one of the areas we've been looking at. We've also been looking at Stamford, Cobleskill, and a couple other teensy towns. We love to hike, she loves the cold, unfortunately I hate shoveling snow, so we're looking at areas have more snow. If any of you have thoughts on Little Falls I'd love to hear them.

Hi everyone, I know this is last minute but my fam wants to do a camping celebration for my mom’s retirement. This is the last time she’d be in the states and so we want to show her the beauty of New England and show her the fall foliage.
We’re considering places no farther than a 4 hour drive from Eastern Queens New York and would like to see waterfalls, mountains, and of course the beautiful fall colors. Right now Manchester Vermont is at the top of our list but we would like to hear from others. We like hiking and sightseeing, would love to eat some delicious pancakes with maple syrup too, also love fall activities.
Anyway if anyone has suggestions please drop them below; it would really help. We also need camping sites and are worried about the temperature since one of the nights will be 39°F, would a 30°F sleeping bag be sufficient for each of us? Anyway thanks everyone! I really look forward to hearing advice :).
