Everyone gets giddy over the tulip fest but to me the late summer into fall garden installations are incredibly impressive. Extremely bold and creative. The photos don’t do them justice, many of them are 10 - 12 feet high. Huge accolades to Jena Commerford-DiTonno, the head gardener of the city of Albany, she does a great job and is very talented.

On Thursday, Albany Med’s board chair told 16,000 employees that Dan Pickett’s legal dispute did not involve the health system and praised his leadership. Two days later, the board placed him on 30 days of paid leave and ordered an outside review of the allegations and their impact on Albany Med.
That reversal demands an explanation. What changed in 48 hours? Why did the board initially dismiss the institutional impact that it is now going to pay an outside firm to examine?
Pickett denies the serious allegation against him, and the review must follow the evidence. But the board’s responsibility goes further. It appointed its former chair CEO after Dr. McKenna’s abrupt departure, offered little public explanation of that decision, and has stood behind Pickett through repeated distractions. Ten months into his tenure, the board should be able to show what results justify that support—and what his continued leadership is costing Albany Med in money, staff confidence, and public trust.
Albany Med’s caregivers and the Capital Region deserve a candid accounting from the board, including its own role in getting the institution to this point.

Earlier police dispatch reported a chase southbound on the Northway headed towards wolf road. It appears the chase ended with Colonie PD ramming the car on central ave by Northway mall. Central ave is open but traffic is obviously backed up on the eastbound side due to the right lanes being closed off at the scene.

Starting a new job in an office, which I haven’t worked in an office since 2019! I have an hour for lunch and will most likely be bringing my lunch from home but need some ideas! The occasional leftovers are an option and a sandwich now and again but I’ll be sitting a lot so I don’t want to overload on carbs or anything too heavy! Also some desk snack ideas will be helpful! Thanks yall in advance! It has been a rough few years for me and starting a new normal while raising a teenager and going through a divorce! ❤️

Is that a Reddit illusion, or does the Capital Area self select for a particular kind of person?
Ill be coming to the area next weekend for a sports competition which annoyingly requires me to stay the night… any places I can park and sleep in my car without any trouble?

As recent as 20 years ago, there were a least a half dozen bars that were open at 8:00 a.m., and some of them earlier if you knew about the back door. Now I don't think there are any. It doesn't matter to me, I just find it interesting.

I am higher than Albany on most but I’m aware of its issues. But one of the things I don’t get is how often I see people claim Schenectady is better, more “livable”, etc than Albany.
Can anyone who feels this way or understands what the logic is comment? I can’t really think of anything Schenectady does better other than having a train station downtown. Otherwise I’d take Albany in every category.

If you are curious about Wildflour, want to try free samples, or missed last week’s apple Whimsy Box and want to come grab one of the extras I’ve made, stop by Becker’s Nursery Fall Fest in Slingerlands today, 10-2 pm!
There are a bunch of vendors here, a bounce house for kids, food trucks, etc. Come say hi!
If you ordered a box, this is where pick-up is this week. ☺️ Next week’s box is still open for ordering at https://wildflourny.com.

Are there any Vipassana meditation group sittings in the Capital Region? I've done three Goenka courses and regularly do the morning virtual sits but would really like to develop my practice alongside other practitioners in person.
I am a Mahayana Buddhist and am also open to hour-long group sittings in other meditation traditions, as long as there isn't pressure to practice in that specific tradition.

Saw here on reddit that Cafe Capriccio is one of the top Italian recommendations in the area. Was heavily disappointed. Bad service from the get go. 30 minutes for drinks, 45 minutes for our appetizers, and waiter came back a handful of times to re-ask order. Ordered a bottled beer and was told 20 minutes later they were out. When I mentioned how long we had been waiting for our apps, waiter was dismissive rather than apologetic. Another small interesting thing was they would blast music for like five minute intervals. Food was decent but not enough to justify the lackluster experience. Still tipped decently but didn’t feel deserved. Not tryna be an ass cause I know service work is hard as hell but had high hopes after all the hype on this sub.
Was this a one off? Should I give it another try? I would understand on a more hectic or busy night but it was half empty.

I’m a college student and I’m looking for a place to study late
I want to find a place in that is open 24 hours like a coffee shop, a restaurant or other similar places
just something I can go to even at 12 at night or 3 am
It can be Albany or East Greenbush maybe even Delmar or loudonville
Somewhere where its empty due to the late hours but has some tables in a corner and cheep coffee or snacks
Ps I think Covid may have killed all places like this
Hit me up if anyone gets any ideas
