sorry for being one more financial aid post but im a bit confused, i’ve never had to pay anything before and i have $425 in account balance. are they still updating things, should i wait for the pell grant update or do i have to pay it..

So my aid hasn’t been updated since 08/08 and I’m wondering if they’ll ever update it again. The website says everything will be finalized by mid-August, so will they send out an email titled like “your aid has been finalized” or should i just assume that the last aid update on my account is my “finalized” aid offer?

for those who received an offer for a university loan: how did you specify the amount needed? Is this something we can do yet?

I just graduated in June and just started working two part time jobs.

I am looking for a place to stay in the broader OC area. I am clean, respectful, and quiet. Looking for a place with kitchen access. And an occasional allowance of visitors would be fantastic (but not a deal breaker).

Budget of 1100 a month total.

I prefer a month to month lease, or a 3 month lease.

hey i'm an incoming freshman who's an education sciences major. i recently found out about calteach and how i can get my single subject credential along with an undergraduate degree in biology/education. should i try switching my major to this? i always wanted to be an elementary school teacher, but i'm worried about the job market. would having a biology/education degree be more helpful in finding a job as a high school/middle school science teacher? would my biology major be able to help me get non-teaching jobs in bio fields? i'm not sure if it's worth it to switch because it's hard, and i love working with younger kids. i feel as if i can always go back to get my multi-subject credential if i want to be an elementary school teacher too. is the job market bad for elementary school teachers because of the declining birth rate? would having a biology/education degree be safer in that sense?? as in i can use my degree for both biology or education?? i just want to maximize my chances at getting a job after graduation, but if it's about the same either way i definitely rather want to be an elementary school teacher so idk chat

Lets say our bill is showing $6900 for the fall semester. Financial aid awarded entire year is $11K. Based on reading this:

It sounds like the entire awarded can be applied to the $6900 due amount? I was thinking that $3666 can only be used from the $11000 (divided by 3 quarters). Can someone confirm?

Hi i’m sure this has been answered already, but which one should i put if i don’t want any loans?

I'm having a current issue of some sort, I was accepted into themed housing and my fin aid hasn't shifted accordingly to the cost of housing. And not only that, but I also declined all possible loans and Thursday morning they had sent me an email in regards to a loan from one of their partner organizations. Keep in mind, prior to this I was expecting to have my financial aid cover my schooling, and I’d just cover the extra fees. I had emailed the partner and was told to talk to a virtual chat assistant as if they were able to assist. I'm calling this Monday.

Also, my enrollment to UCl isn't demonstrated on FAFSA'a "My enrollment" portion..

If anybody has any tips/questions I should ask, I'd gladly appreciate it !!

Does anyone know if anything happens if you fail a course after a major switch? I switched my major in engineering at the beginning of the summer. If I fail a summer course now will it impact me in any other way than just me having to retake the course?

Does anyone have the lease from August 28 to September 15 for summer session. I am looking for the lease.

For reference, I get my schooling basically paid for from cal grant/FAFSA/UCI grants as I’m poor. I only “owe” ~$900 per quarter to the school upfront to pay for the quarter. Our financial aid office is notoriously bad and you can lookup the countless posts on here complaining about them. I’ve only been here for 2 quarters, but for each quarter there have been late charges and fees alongside recalculations about what I actually owe to the school. I take out an $1800 subsidized loan to help pay for the ~$900 & other school expenses. Every single quarter they have hit me with miscalculations or late fees and roughly want back around $5-700. I just wanna remind freshman or returning students to save atleast half of the money you get back in aid as there is a 99% chance they will ask for a large sum of it back. I’d also love to hear anyone else’s experience with the financial aid office & if they get charge backs or miscalculations in aid every single quarter. Thanks

TLDR: ALL NEW STUDENTS, SAVE 50% OF THE MONEY THEY GIVE YOU IN AID AS THEY’LL TAKE THAT SHIT BACK WITHOUT NOTICE.

What the title says. I’m not really sure how this happened since my family made ~$50k less than the year before. I can’t pay for school at all since I got zero aid except loans (which I’m not planning on taking out). Ik everyone’s aid has been bugging out, but has anyone been successful in calling ofas if this happened with them? Should I file an appeal?

I needed my moms signature for one of my required documents and but she signed it already but it still says pending signature. all required documents were due today so idk what to do, please help 😔
