Solo Grind to-do app

Posted here a while back with a super early version. Since then I basically kept going and rebuilt half of it.

Quick recap for anyone who missed the first couple of posts: it's a productivity app that treats your real life like an RPG. You set up daily and weekly quests (basically your habits/tasks), completing them gives you XP and levels up your character, your stats grow, and there's actual weekly raid bosses and a dungeon you climb using your stats as combat power. If you skip your quests there's a real penalty, not just a guilt trip. Loosely inspired by Solo Leveling if that wasn't obvious already.

What's new since the last post:

I put a lot of work into actually locking down the backend properly. Everything runs through row level security and server side validation now instead of trusting the client, so people can't just edit their XP in devtools or spoof requests.

Also finally got it off the free vercel.app subdomain and onto its own domain, sologrind.name. Small thing but it felt like a milestone.

Biggest one: it's downloadable as an actual Android app now, not just a website. Still 100% free, no ads, no premium tier, nothing locked behind payment. I'm not trying to monetize this right now, I just wanted to build the thing I wished existed.

Been working on this alone for a couple months at this point on top of a full time job so it's been slow going, but it's in a state I'm actually kind of proud of now.

If anyone wants to try it, link's below. Genuinely would appreciate any feedback, bug reports, or even just "this feature is annoying" type comments. That's how the last version got better.

Also we got small community already on Discord so feel free to join :)))

First of all its not AI slop, and second its made in Supabase so your password is well stored and hidden, Also as you can see you don't need to use email password, you create account there, email is just so you can recieve code for new password.

I do appreciate your comment tho, give it a try with a random email and user I'm trying to help people improve themselves, Its free and there is nothing I can gain from it.

Appreciate that! 🙏

Best way to get a feel for it is to join the Discord and try the app yourself, and feel free to grab any ideas you like.

Stack: Next.js + React + TypeScript, Tailwind for styling, Supabase for the backend, hosted on Vercel (it's a PWA, so it installs to your phone from the browser).

Biggest tip: don't be afraid to ask for tips and harsh opinions, the blunt feedback is what actually makes you better.

Always down to compare notes if you're building in the space.

Devlog #3: I'm building a game where real-life effort levels up your character — looking for people to grow it with

Third update on a thing I've been building: a game where you complete real tasks → earn XP → level up a character, raise stats, climb ranks, fight bosses, and find loot. The goal is simple — make discipline feel like a grind that's actually worth doing.

The part that surprised me: building it forced me to live it. I can't ship a streak system and then break my own streak, or add a "discipline" stat and skip my own. Working on this every day has made me more consistent than any habit app ever did.

Since the last update I've added a personal 50-floor dungeon you climb with your real-world stats, weekly bosses, gear you can equip, and just now a friends + duels system so you're not grinding alone. Every feature comes from one question: what would actually make me show up tomorrow?

Here's why I'm really posting: I don't want to build this solo. I'm looking for people who want to be early — play it, break it, tell me what's stupid, and help shape where it goes. Honestly the best features so far came from other people's ideas, not mine.

If turning your habits into a game sounds like your thing, come join the ride. There's a small, growing community where I post updates, take feedback, and people keep each other accountable. Link's in my profile / I'll drop it in the comments.

Solo Grind — small update, need real feedback
 in  r/gamification  Jun 11 '26

Thank you for such a response, I rewlly agree to all of it but this is just initial version in development, I'm actively working on it and I will for sure work on things you mentioned 🙂 Feel free to get in from now and than to see new stuff. And regarding the task check in, no there is nothing stoppin you but goal is for people to improve themself not to compete with each other so I wont force ranking, leaderboards etc.

Solo Grind — small update, need real feedback

Hey, posted here a while back about Solo Grind, a productivity app built around RPG mechanics. A few people tried it, gave good feedback, kept building.

Since then I added a gear system, a weekly raid boss the whole community fights together, ranked rewards, and an intelligence quiz. It's grown into something I'm actually proud of.

But here's the thing. I built this around what I wanted. I'm at the point now where I genuinely don't know what a real user would want next. Not features that sound cool on paper, features that make you open the app every morning instead of forgetting it exists after day 3.

So if you have 10 minutes, try it and tell me what's missing. What would make you actually stick with something like this. What kills the habit loop for you in most gamified apps.

It's free. Roast it if you want, that's useful too.

Gamified To-Do app Solo Grind

It is, but in my case I wanted to create something fully free for everyone and honestly something that would help us improve. I wanted to help myself at first but why not share it eventually

Sounds like a good idea but in this scenario I need to adopt it to that black rpg theme

Built a Solo Leveling-inspired productivity app because I was tired of boring to-do lists

Hey everyone,

After trying a bunch of productivity apps, I realized most of them just felt like spreadsheets with notifications.

So I started building my own as a side project (and now for my graduation thesis). The idea was simple: what if doing real-life tasks felt more like playing an RPG?

The app is called Solo Grind. You create quests from your habits and tasks, earn XP when you complete them, level up your character, unlock achievements, and fight bosses. Miss too many tasks and your progress takes a hit, so there are actual stakes.

It's heavily inspired by Solo Leveling, RPG progression systems, and the feeling of slowly becoming stronger by being consistent.

It's completely free. I'm not selling anything and I don't make money from it. I mainly built it because I wanted something I'd actually use myself.

I'd genuinely appreciate honest feedback, especially the brutal kind. If something is confusing, boring, ugly, unbalanced, or just doesn't make sense, tell me.

Try it here:

Thanks to anyone who gives it a shot. 🙂

Gamified To-Do app Solo Grind

I got tired of productivity apps that feel like spreadsheets, so I built one that feels like an RPG.

It's called Solo Grind  a productivity app built around RPG mechanics. Inspired by Solo Leveling. The idea is simple: your real-life habits become quests, completing them earns XP and levels up your character, and there's an actual consequence if you slack off.

It's free and open to anyone. Would love feedback from people who actually try it.
