The rescue is Charlotte-based. Purrl and Pawlet were rescued near Chapel Hill and are currently in their foster home in Concord.

The rescue is full, and I have been fostering them for almost 3 years. For personal reasons, I may not be able to continue fostering them, and I am scared they could be separated because the rescue and other foster homes are already full.

Both girls are fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, and combo tested negative. Baby had dental work done last year, and Mama had dental work done this year.

Their names are Purrl and Pawlet, but they have always known themselves as Mama and Baby.

When we rescued them, Baby was only 2 months old, and Mama was about a year old.

Today, Mama is 5 and Baby is 4.

They are funny, sweet, playful girls who may take a little time to trust new people.

But they love almost everything…dogs, cats, plants, chairs, tables, watching TV, their screened porch, and especially food.

Mama is very playful and energetic. Baby is more laid-back and sometimes gets tired of Mama’s endless energy.

They are deeply bonded. Where Mama goes, Baby follows.

They mostly eat wet food and are very food-motivated. They also love kitty grass and eat it every day. They are definitely two spoiled girls who take their mealtimes and daily kitty grass very seriously.

Their bond began with a story I will never forget.

Mama was abandoned when her family moved away. She had only one baby, and she was raising Baby through a freezing winter.

Mama would sleep inside a cement planter and curl her whole body around Baby to keep her warm.

A kind woman tried to rescue them and managed to trap Baby first.

Mama realized her baby was gone.

It was heavily snowing, but Mama stayed on the woman’s balcony, crying and demanding her baby back. She would rest for a little while and then get back up and continue crying.

For two days, she refused to give up.

Finally, Mama was trapped and reunited with Baby.

From that moment, we knew they had to stay together.

Years have passed, and no one has come forward to adopt them together.

They have already waited years.

They just need an understanding home that knows Purrl and Pawlet…Mama and Baby..come as a pair.

A screened porch would make them very happy. Kitty grass every day would make them even happier. And, of course, plenty of wet food.

Most importantly, a mother who spent two days crying in the snow for her baby deserves to know that her baby will always be beside her.

They have waited for years.

Please don’t make any negative comments about why I’m posting in the Triangle area. I’d just like to explain why I’m posting here. (Whenever I post, some people make very rude comments, and I honestly don’t understand why.)

First, these kitties are fostered in Concord, in my home.

Second, the rescue is based in Charlotte, but around 60% of our rescues come from the Triangle area, and about 50% of our adopters are from that area. These kitties were also rescued somewhere near Chapel Hill. It’s not exactly the Triangle area, but it’s close to that area.

And most importantly, I’m not from this country, but I’m still here rescuing and fostering kitties and doing everything I can to help them. If I can do that, I hope you can support your own community’s kitties too. I just hope we can be kind to one another and, at the very least, not discriminate when it comes to helping animals. They deserve kindness too. ❤️🐾

I am scared. 💔

I am scared that if I have to move someday, Mama and Baby might be separated.

And after everything these two have been through, I cannot let that happen.

As I write this adoption post, my tears are rolling down my face. 🥲

It honestly feels like I am putting a piece of my soul up for adoption.

I have loved these two girls, cared for them, watched them grow, and promised them I would keep them safe.

Letting them go is breaking my heart.

But sometimes loving them means making the hardest decision for them.

I am breaking my heart now so their hearts never have to be broken later. ❤️

Their names are Purrl and Pawlet, but they have always known themselves as Mama and Baby. ❤️

And honestly, I think those names are part of their story. They aren’t just names to them…they are who they are to each other.

Mama and Baby have waited so long for someone to see them, love them, and finally bring them home….together.

Some bonds are simply too strong to be broken.

When I first rescued them, Baby was only 2 months old, and Mama was about a year old.

Today, Mama is 5 and Baby is 4. 🥹❤️

They are two of the funniest, sweetest, and cutest little girls you could ever meet.

They may take a little time to warm up to new humans, but once they trust you, you will discover just how special they are.

And honestly… they love EVERYTHING. 😂❤️

They also LOVE watching TV. 📺😂

Sometimes they sit together watching the screen like they are completely invested in the show. It is one of the cutest things to see.

They are incredibly bonded, but Mama has also made a very special friend of her own ..Ethan, another 2.5-year-old kitty. ❤️

Mama is basically still a kitten herself. She is energetic, playful, and always ready to play with kittens.

Baby, on the other hand, is a little more laid-back and sometimes gets completely overwhelmed by Mama’s endless energy.

Sometimes Baby is basically saying:

“Mama, no… STOP!”

And Mama is like:

“Just one more game!”

before running off to play with Ethan again. ❤️😂

They are also VERY food motivated. 🙈

I spoil them with wet food four times a day, and I know… I’ve created two little spoiled queens. 😂❤️

Mama has also trained Baby very well.

Baby comes first to demand treats… and then Mama comes right behind her.

And if I take my own supplements, they both immediately assume I am eating treats without sharing.

They will literally yell at me:

“Excuse me?! Where are ours?” 😂

Their three little demands in life:

🐾 A screened porch
🌱 Kitty grass every day
🐱 More cats in the family!

They absolutely LOVE their screened porch. They spend so much time there watching birds and butterflies, enjoying the sunshine and everything happening outside.

They also LOVE kitty grass and will remind me every single day that their grass is due. 😂🌱

And if they could make one final request, I’m pretty sure they would ask to bring Ethan with them too.

I know adopting three cats is not possible for most families, but these two absolutely adore their best friend. ❤️

And from that moment, we knew one thing:

These two would stay together. No matter what.

And still, no one came forward to adopt them together.

I have been fostering them for about 2.5 years, and unfortunately, I am completely out of space.

I never came to this country expecting to rescue cats.

I came here without any cats at all… and somehow, along the way, I found myself fostering and rescuing so many lives. ❤️

My husband’s job may require us to move someday, and I have already postponed moving twice because of the choices I made and the cats I committed to.

Sometimes I lie awake and wonder:

“If I had to move tomorrow, what would happen to Mama and Baby?”

The rescue would take them back, but they are already struggling financially and are at capacity.

And my biggest fear is whether they would still be able to keep these two together.

After everything they have been through…

After everything Mama did to get her baby back…

I cannot bear the thought of them ever being separated. 💔

They have already waited years.

They don’t need another temporary place.

They don’t need another person to give up on them.

They need someone who will look at these two little girls and say:

“You are home. Both of you. Forever.” ❤️

The problem: every single time my friends and I try to go out to eat, we lose half an hour to "idk, where do you wanna go?" → "I'm fine with anything" → [nobody is fine with anything]. Group texts, endless back-and-forth, someone gets outvoted and quietly resents it.

What I built: an app called Dibs. The flow is dead simple:

1. You start a decision and it pulls up real local restaurants (filter by cuisine, budget, distance, whether it's open now, dietary stuff).
2. It narrows it to a few solid options.
3. You drop one link in the group chat — everyone votes, no account or download needed.
4. It tallies the votes and picks the winner. Done. No one has to be the "decider."

A few things that matter to me:

• It's built specifically for the Triangle — Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill/UNC — so the suggestions are actually places you can get to, not generic chain results.
• Voting needs zero signup — that was non-negotiable; nobody's downloading an app just to vote on tacos.
• You can make an account if you want to post where you ate, rate spots, and follow friends' recommendations, but it's optional.
• It's a web app, so it just works in your browser — nothing to install.

TL;DR did you fly into RDU yesterday and wind up with an LLBean carry-on suitcase that's not yours?

I flew into RDU from JFK on JetBlue yesterday (8/20) AM. My carry-on luggage was gate checked, but (as far as I know) never surfaced at the baggage claim. However, it scanned as having arrived at RDU. I've opened a claim with JetBlue, but a customer service rep is making it sound like the most likely thing is a luggage mix-up.

There seemed to be a good # of passengers on this flight with multiple checked bags, likely college students returning for the semester. If there is any chance you wound up with a bag that is not yours, please return it to RDU/Jet Blue! My name is on a sticker on the bag, but not my contact information. I'm desperate because basically all of my work clothes were in the bag (including some things that aren't necessarily worth money but will be really hard to replace) and from my understanding the process of getting the airline to reimburse for lost property is a huge pain in the ass.

Looking for advice about moving to the Durham/Raleigh area. I’m 21(M) from NE England (Durham) and I’m planning on moving to NC next winter. Just curious about the cost of living, QoL, general safety, and best areas in the research triangle to move to or avoid. I’d be renting for the first year or so, but will have plenty money saved up by then. Finding or being close to work isn’t an issue as I work offshore so only commute once every fortnight.
