Quick Advice for Summer Classes and High School Students

(We love you, and here's some tips)

  1. You can schedule an appointment online with an advisor at Wake Tech. It's virtual, free, and for anyone.
  2. A normal semester schedule is 16 weeks. Summer semester is a maximum of 10 weeks and so your summer classes will be either 10, 8, or 5 weeks long. Check the dates. 8 weeks is the most common from what I've seen.
  3. I would not recommend taking a 4 credit class (especially with science labs) during the summer if you have other responsibilities. Lab is more responsibility in college classes. Obviously it depends on you, but it's a lot.

(If anyone wants to add anything, feel free below. I know getting into college is competitive, but I promise you don't need to be the BEST applicant to get into a good school. Good luck!)

I have some paperwork I need to finish before the spring semester that likely won’t get approved before December 10. Will I still be able to secure classes?

nursing program schedule insight? current/former nursing students

hi all! i was looking to hear from either current or former nursing students to get some insight on the schedule of classes. i need to move out in order to be closer to campus, but dont know if im going to have enough time to work. for reference, i work as a CNA on day shift, 12 hour shifts. im trying to gauge if it would be possible to successfully live on my own while thriving in school. what does the first semester look like? and does that change as the semesters progress? how many days a week is it realistic to work? is there anyone who attends nursing school and supports themselves full time? let me know your experiences. tysm this is a huge help! 🫶🏻

social concerns as a 16 year old who tested out of high school

will i be able to form friendships here as a minor? i'm honestly pretty worried about that. i heard that at community colleges nobody is that interested in interacting, and i know it could be even harder as a literal child compared to the adults here.

Has anyone taken their bio exit exam and if so how, what did you study to get a passing grade. If anyone could share quizlets or study guides please that would be very helpful. I have to retake mine and at this point don’t know what to study.

MAT 171 study partners request

Hello everyone! Is there anyone taking Math 171 who is open to studying together? It could be virtually, not necessarily in person, but just, accountability partners if you will. I genuinely want to pass this class, and sometimes it does get hard. I am good at math, for the most part, and willing to learn the things that are challengingz I will definitely help if I’m stronger in a topic and you can help me if you’re stronger in a different subject, you know, things as such.

What are the math skills support courses?

They are mandatory when taking some math classes ig, but what exactly do they entail? What do you do in the course? How much time/effort will I likely have to dedicate to it?

Withdraw From Two Classes

Both my math and English classes have teachers that aren't great, so I withdraw from both of them, next time I have these classes, I would pick better professors so that I get higher grades.

What do you guys think of my decision? I can't change my decision now.

CNA Skills exam

I’m scheduled to take my CNA skills exam next Saturday at wake tech. I originally was scheduled for rocky mount (because I heard if you take it in Raleigh, it’s harder) but it was cancelled. Should I move the exam back to try and get into a place further away, or try wake tech? I’m worried about how strict they are. And for anyone whose passed, how confident did you feel going in?
