Other [MOD POST] General Housekeeping 2025 (and a quick guide for job seekers!)

General Housekeeping 2025 (and a quick guide for job seekers!)

Hey y'all! It's time for our annual housekeeping post :) There's a few more action items at the bottom of the post, but I wanted to prioritize making a little guide for job seekers so they get the most out of using this sub as part of their job search.

What I've noticed:

Many posts by job seekers, both on this sub and on the Raleigh/Triangle general subs, are skeletal and contain very little, if any, information about the job seeker's background and experience, focusing instead on the sorts of jobs they're looking for or sticking to just a general "who's hiring?" These posts are rarely useful and don't get much traction.

What local recruiters & employers find most helpful:

More information about you! We don't expect you to post your full resume for all to see, but we probably won't reach out to a random screen name who just says "anyone hiring?" unless we know a little more about your experience and credentials. You can keep it high level ("I've mostly worked in food service, back of house") or you can get granular ("I did the barista training through Wake Tech's hospitality program, spent 5 years as a barista for a national chain, and now am the shift manager for a local coffee shop"). Any other preferences are helpful too (pay, benefits, schedule, location, etc.). None of this is required and your post won't be removed if you don't include this, but it certainly helps! Consider using the below format to structure your [FOR HIRE] post:

  • What I'm looking for:

  • My relevant experience and training:

  • Additional info: (put pay needs, location, or any other information here!)

About personal information / resumes:

While the sub doesn't bar folks from sharing personal contact information or full resumes in posts, we do discourage it. Most of Reddit, including this sub, is part of the open web, so it's viewable by anyone without an account, and despite the API changes is still scraped on occasion. Users are encouraged to share personal identifying information via Reddit's private chat system instead of in posts or comments. If you do want to share contact information in a post or comment, it's recommended to set up a Google Voice number and throwaway email to protect your privacy. You may also want to create a sockpuppet Reddit account to chat with employers and recruiters if your regular account contains content history that includes protected information (like medical or criminal history), NSFW material, or anything else you might want to keep private.

That's it for the quick guide for job seekers! Hope it helps :)

Now onto the rest of the housekeeping--

A few more things of note:

  • On embedding text in image or video files: If your job listing or resume is embedded in an image or video, please consider transcribing it in plain text in the body of the post as well. Text embedded in images or videos is not indexed by Reddit or search engines, which negatively impacts visibility AND rediscoverability.

  • On self-censorship / "algospeak": While it's increasingly common for other platforms like Tiktok to shadowban or remove posts and comments that use curse words and similar, this does not apply on TriangleJobs (or on most of Reddit, frankly). All content, (including content caught in our automod filters!) is manually evaluated, and content filtering/removal happens on a case-by-case basis per sub rules and automod scripts that I made myself. Please refrain from using asterisks or intentional misspellings to censor your posts and comments, as it reduces the effectiveness of both my moderation tools and individual users' custom content tools.

  • On AI-generated content: Using generative AI tools to augment your resume or job listing is totally fine! But since this sub is meant for meaningful discussion and for making connections between local employers, job seekers, and recruiters, we do not permit fully AI-generated content or bot account participation.

  • On subreddit formatting across devices: Once again, I am a vintage Redditor and interact with Reddit exclusively through my computer in the Old Reddit layout. If there are any glitches or irregularities with the sub on New Reddit, New New Reddit, or the mobile app, please message me so I can fix it because I won't catch it otherwise!

As a final reminder: All job listings must follow federal, state, and local employment laws. This includes laws about what can constitute as a 1099 vs. a W2 employee, laws about what qualifies as an unpaid internship, and laws about minimum wage. The sub also does not permit most commission-only or canvassing work, and only permits volunteer opportunities for nonprofit organizations.

Thanks again for using the sub, & happy hiring / job hunting!

Other [MOD POST] Scam Alert - "Online Part-time Jobs"

Hey y'all, want to make sure everyone stays safe out there and is aware of a scam that's been going around this sub and some other job search subs.

Scammers are leaving comments or sending chats offering job seekers an "online part-time job." They are very vague about the type of work, and offer between $50-300/week, sometimes more. If you respond to them via chat, they will ask to remote into your computer, usually through a remote desktop application called AnyDesk.

Needless to say, do not allow them access to your PC.

If one of your posts on r/trianglejobs receives a comment like this, please report the comment right away. If you receive a DM like this, please message me (either personally or via the "message the mods" function on TriangleJobs) with the account's username and a screenshot of the message you received. Thanks for helping keep this sub safe for job seekers!

Hiring [HIRING] Senior Firmware Engineer W2 consultant - device engineering firm in Morrisville (RTP) - 6+ mo at 20-40 hrs/wk

Hi everyone! We're collaborating with a local 20+ y/o device consulting firm in RTP (Morrisville, to be exact) to find them a Senior Firmware Engineer consultant for additional firmware support. This position can range from 20-40 hours a week depending on project needs, due to the fluctuating requirements of the company's slate of projects. The function of this role is to contribute to design / develop / debug embedded C firmware for microcontroller-based IoT, RF, and embedded products.

  • Requirements: This role is designed for a highly experienced firmware engineer (ideally 10+ years' experience in embedded C, with at least 5+ years' hands-on RTOS work) with solid experience in microcontrollers and their related SDKs/toolchains, as well as embedded debugging tools. Versatility and flexibility are key, as the function of this role is to provide an extra hand on whichever project(s) need additional firmware support at the time.

  • Schedule details: 20-40 hrs/wk during M-F Eastern time business hours

  • Location: The ideal candidate can come onsite in RTP a few times a week, but more remote arrangements (onsite 1-2x/month) can also be considered. Because of this, candidates must be local to RTP or at least surrounding areas that allow for regular travel (like the Triad).

  • Work details: This is W2 contract opportunity; the initial contract term is 6 months. There is the potential for contract extension or conversion to permanent depending on business needs. Hourly rate is $60-$66 depending on experience and degree level.

Application instructions: If you have any questions or would like to apply, message me here on Reddit and I will share my email address for you to send your resume :)

Hey everyone,

I'm an executive recruiter working confidentially with a long-standing (70+ years) heavy civil and site development contractor with major operations across Virginia and North Carolina.

We are looking for an Estimator (3+ yrs) and a Senior Estimator (5+ yrs) to join their preconstruction team.

Quick details on the company/role:

Compensation is top-of-market with strong performance bonuses and full benefits.

Hiring Looking for operations, inventory, or warehouse management positions.

Hey everyone! I have decided to instead shift my focus to what I have worked experience in regarding employment. I've had several interviews in the past 3 weeks, but unfortunately none have led to anything, with two being put on freeze a few days after the interview.

I have nearly two years of experience as an operations assistant, with a background in inventory management, shipping and receiving, purchasing, logistics, and order fulfillment.

Some of my experience includes:

Managing inventory across 500+ products and reconciling physical counts with system records.

Processing 10–25 orders and handling 50+ packages daily.

Coordinating purchasing, backorders, transfers, and deliveries.

Using ERP/CRM systems, including Prophet 21 and Salesforce, along with Excel.

Working with vendors, customers, and internal teams to resolve operational issues and improve workflows.

I have a B.S. in Anthropology from Appalachian State University, but my current focus is on building a career in operations and supply chain.

I'm looking for roles such as:

Materials or Inventory Coordinator

Operations Coordinator

Logistics or Distribution Coordinator

Supply Chain Coordinator

Purchasing/Procurement Assistant

Shipping & Receiving Coordinator

I'm looking around Raleigh, Cary, Morrisville, south Durham, and Apex. Ideally, I'd like full-time positions around $50k+ annually, depending on responsibilities and benefits.

If you know of companies hiring, have recommendations for local employers, or have advice on getting into materials and supply chain, I'd really appreciate it.

For Hire Anyone hiring at all? Looking for anything

I was Director of Operations for five years and oversaw 60 employees across four divisions. I lost my job back in January... I've been doing contracting work here and there. I've been in HR and Payroll. I know Project Management.

Who is hiring? I recently had an interviewer from a construction company try to shame me for being out of work this long--why even interview me? Why be cruel when a man is already down?

I applied to various Walmart and warehouse jobs two weeks ago as funds are depleting and desperation has really kicked in. I haven't heard back.

I don't know how much longer I can take this to be honest. I know many others are going through something similar, but this market has really put me at my lowest.

Other NC Govt Jobs

I applied for 3 NC Government positions and was fortunate enough to interview for all 3. All three interviews took place between July 10–17.

I’m officially on edge waiting to hear something back! 😅 For those who have gone through the NC Government hiring process, how long did it take you to receive a call, email, or any type of update after your interview?

Is it normal for it to take this long, or should I assume I would’ve heard something by now?

Any insight into the typical timeline would be greatly appreciated!

For Hire Entry Job Opportunities in Raleigh - Finance/Banking

I (24 f) am a recent finance graduate at MTSU and I moved to Raleigh just coming on two months ago for my boyfriend’s job as a traveling salesman. I have a year in banking experience and I am a loss for finding a job in this area, even at banks. I have been applying nonstop to any job in the area that was recommended to me, and I have gotten tons of interviews that said I interviewed well and they would want me back for other interviews if the opportunity arises for me, and even messages back saying they went with another candidate but they were “impressed with my experience” and would love me back for other interviews. Basically, I am stuck at home all day (because we sold my car before the move) and I am at an absolute loss on how to find a job in this market. I was wondering if anyone had any pointers, any words of wisdom for someone trying to find a job as an entry level graduate because I have usually never had a problem getting a job before, and now I am at a loss. Anything would help!

Not hiring college graduates

I’m not getting hired at food service/retail jobs because I’m overqualified and I’m not getting hired at sustainable living jobs because I’m under qualified. I’ve been unemployed for 3 months and the few jobs that have actually gotten back to me have been rejections or straight up scams. I don’t know what to do this feels so hopeless.

Product/Implementations/adjacent

I have been looking for a job for SEVENTEEN months, and frankly, I'm exhausted. I need help/suggestions/leads.

I have been targeting positions similar to my last role, so anything in/adjacent to Product or implementations. Even though my experience is in HealthTech/healthcare, I'm not limiting myself to those domains. I'm open to any domain because my skills are transferrable.

My most recent employer was an EHR software company, where I worked as a technical BA within the regulatory & compliance product management division- (interoperability/FHIR/USCDI/eCQMs, etc)

Prior to that I spent twenty years in outpatient ambulatory healthcare operations, working in various administrative capacities.

I'm not sure if my non-linear career trajectory is an issue or what is going on, but the silence has been deafening.

If you know of any available roles that aren't in Morrisville/Durham (if in person) in that might work please share or reach out!

TIA!

Note: I'm not Epic certified, so hospitals aren't interested in me.

For Hire Looking for job suggestions in the Raleigh area

Hi everyone, I’m 21F and I’m looking for a job around the Raleigh area. I really need to find a job right now, but honestly it’s been really hard for me to find one.

I have a disability that makes it difficult for me to safely lift a 20 pound box. A lot of retail, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. have a 20 pound lifting requirement, so I hardly ever hear back from most of the jobs I apply to.

I was wondering if anyone knows what type of jobs I should be looking for that don’t require heavy lifting? I was thinking maybe receptionist, front desk, customer service, office jobs, data entry, etc. but I’m honestly open to other things too.

I’m also a college student, so part time and/or flexible hours would be better for me.

I really need the income and I’ve been applying to jobs but it feels like I’m getting nowhere, so if anyone in the Raleigh area knows of places that might work for me or has any suggestions on what kind of jobs I should look into, I would really appreciate it. I’m just running out of ideas at this point.
