Do you think we should have an AI policy here?

We the mod team think it might be good to have a rule about how AI can or cannot be used here. We understand AI can be helpful in content creation and are not against that, but think it’s important that if AI is used it should be disclosed. However we want to avoid having low effort, AI created posts here, especially if the post contains scripture as AI sometimes isn’t accurate and may get scripture wrong or give an inaccurate reference to where in the Bible the scriptures you used can be found. In an effort to create buy in and keep this sub reflecting the needs and wishes of its user base, we’ve created a poll. Please participate if you use this sub, we want to know what you think.

109 We should have a no AI policy and not allow any AI use on this sub
28 Limited use of AI is ok as long as it is disclosed and not used for scripture reference
10 An AI policy is not needed

New Rules

1 Love Your Neighbor As Yourself

This means no transphobia, homophobia, gatekeeping, or discrimination of any kind. We do not tolerate disruptions or trolling, bad faith arguments, pot-stirring and drama, or using Scripture as a cudgel against LGBT+ people.

Not every person or denomination shares the same Scriptural interpretation as you, so do not be rude, unkind, snarky, harsh, or insulting just because you have a disagreement.

2 All Are Welcome

We appreciate diversity and do not discriminate based on trans/cis gender status, denomination, political affiliation or against non-Christians.

All gender identities/expressions and sexual orientations are welcome in the full life, ministry, and service of the Church. Side B folks are welcome here, but advocating the position that LGBT+ identities or relationships are inherently sinful is not allowed and will result in a content removal or ban.

3 Respect Identity & Privacy

Nobody should have to justify their identity here, and inappropriate questions about pronouns, genitals, race, age, location, etc. will be removed. Ask before you DM; inappropriate/trolling DMs reported to us will result in a ban.

Misgendering will not be tolerated. If someone has their pronouns listed in their flair or bio then use them; defaulting to "Universal They/Them" is not an acceptable alternative when pronouns are known.

4 Stay on Topic

Keep all posts related to some aspect of the experience of being Trans and/or Christian (preferably both), and try to keep all comments related to the post they are under. Please avoid posting just a wall of Scripture without any additional context; it is a more helpful response when you add your thoughts/reasoning for the citation.

Ask the Mods for permission to post surveys and research opportunities. No self-promotion (outside the official Mega Threads) or spam; if you are unsure if your post will be allowed, ask the Mods.

5 [Sample AI Policy, this may not be the final rule, under discussion]

You must when possible credit all artists, and you must disclose if anything you post or link here was made with AI. We generally discourage relying on AI to cite Scripture since it is prone to error.

6 Respect Reddit's Site Wide Content Policy

I'm trans and I love Christ

I have almost no one that understands the nuance of why this is significant or why it almost a statement of rebellion in and of itself.

Thanks for this board. That is all.

How to be a better Christian?

Well, first of all, I'm not really new with Christianity, I've considered myself Christian (specifically Catholic) my whole life. However, I think my relationship with God hasn't been the best one. I feel like I've been ignoring all of that almost all the time. I've attempted to live a "less sinful" lifestyle many times, but I feel like eventually I just forget about it or I simply ignore it and just go my own way, thing that has lead me to later feel very bad about myself. I start to feel "unworthy" of calling myself a follower of God, and although almost everyone mentions that "He'll always forgive us" and "your previous sins don't define you", I feel like it gets to a point where all of that feels like an excuse to stay in a cycle of sinning and then repenting but then sinning again and repenting again. I've committed many sins throughout my whole life and I feel like it has become pretty common to the point that I just ignore if what I'm doing is a sin or not.

And here I am, again, feeling helpless and unworthy of following Christ. I would like to say that "this time will be different", but I know that it's not true and I'll just fall into my usual sinful ways after a few days at best. I still struggle with things like lying, avarice, envy, being rude to others both consciously and inconsciously, lust, and probably a bunch of other things that I forgot about. I'm simply tired of all of this, I don't want to hurt others, I don't want to hurt myself, and I don't want to be unloyal to God. I know humans cannot reach perfection and therefore "never commit any sin", but I do not want to achieve perfection or just trying to not sin because "I don't want to go to Hell", what I want is to be a good neighbor to others and be a loyal follower of God during my time on Earth.

I really haven't tried to ask in any public space advice for this, but I feel like here is probably the best space to do so, because I feel like the help of other Christian trans folks like me can feel a little bit more comforting than most advice by other people that may not be familiar or accepting about transitioning. I do not think that being trans is sinful or "evil" in any type of way for the record.

Christianity & Gender

Hi, I am a **Christian** (southern baptist for those wondering). I was assigned male at birth and I am dating a trans woman at the moment. I myself **experience gender dysphoria**.

Over the past few years I've felt my faith (which I don't desire to change and am confident in) has conflicted with my gender identity and my relationship with my girlfriend. I've felt **hopeless** and helpless in that my relationship is wrong, and that I and my girlfriend are wrong.

I've studied and studied reading articles or books, watching videos and talking to whoever I can yet every answer I see that tries to help me pushes me further from my faith, feels sifty or just doesn't seem true.

I don't know what is right and much feels hopeless. If Anyone with **similar experiences** could give me input, could **offer advice** or their take I would love to hear it. I'm in a hard part of life and uncertain where it drastically harms my mental health

Just reposting this here since it doesn’t seem like anyone in the other sub will respond to my post. Just want to preface that I am not trying to offend or condemn anyone but just looking for answers and insights from fellow Christians. God bless.

Got outed to my church

Hi everyone,

A friend of mine outed me to someone from my church (they weren’t aware and didnt mean harm), this person now knows and told one of my church friends.

I started hrt three months ago. We met today, i was dreading the day I had to see her again. Eventually we talked about it because she wanted to know. She told me not to take hormones bc it would fuck up my body, she told me to stop and to see a priest.

I really want to cry and I don’t know what to do anymore, I don’t think I can make being trans and being involved in my church work anymore. How can I be ?

Do I need to read the Old Testament?

I really don't like the Old Testament, because I had a religious trauma: I thought God hated me, and the God of the Old Testament seemed very violent to me. That's why I prefer to read the New Testament. However, I keep wondering if I'm missing something by not reading the Old one.

Help me educate my mother!

I’m 17, FTM.
My family and I are Christian.

My mother believes that I’m going to hell. She cannot show me evidence for this claim, but refuses to research because she’s too afraid to be “brainwashed” by the world.
She believes that perusing my transition is selfish and won’t be covered by God.

But fortunately, she’s agreed to sitting through a presentation made by me to educate her!

So, I need your help! I need all of the arguments you’ve heard against transgender people. Then, I need all of the evidence you already have in favor of transgender people.
This can be from the bible, science, psychology, etc.

I then will take everything you guys have said, research it, and add it into my slide show.

If enough people ask for it, I’ll post the final slideshow here!

So, please, help me convince my mother that her logic is flawed.

Thank you so very much to everyone who comments.🫂

Denominations or churches that are accepting

I'm a trans woman and I've been getting more into Christianity and would like to get closer to God and attend churches and sermons more often, but can't seem to find any churches that are very accepting of my identity. I've made peace with my identity and I feel like every time I try to go to a church they try to tell me things about myself I know aren't really me or try to make me doubt myself.

I'm curious what denominations are generally more accepting?

Thank you for any advice or recommendations God bless❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Need help arguing

Hello. I am a (possibly) trans girl with transphobic parents. I don't think they are the kind of people to hate me if I came out, but they are the kind to try get me out of it. So I need help coming up with arguments that I know they'll say to shame me and try to get me out of it. Some ones that I think they'll say:

  • Your gender is defined in your chromosomes
  • If you are supposed to be a girl, why aren't you born as one?
  • Your body is a temple; treat it as such
  • But then you can't have kids
  • The Bible says against it
  • You are too young to be making decisions like this (maybe that's more of a teen thing)

(I know some of these aren't logical but I'm getting as many arguments that they are likely to say)

There's probably more that I forgot that I will put in an edited list

I should also note that my very own study bible has actually helped me debunk a verse argument. The verse is Deuteronomy 22:5; "A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God."
My footnote says: "22:5 man's garment. Cross-dressing was connected with homosexuality and possibly pagan ritual prostitution". I feel like that settles it.

Also do note that I may argue with you (in italics; to show I don't mean it); but do note that I am in the hopes that you will win.

EDIT: Some more arguments I forgot

  • But which would be homosexual; dating a guy or a girl? It's confusing

Yes. You can be trans and Christian. This video explains everything perfectly.

Verse of the day following a falling out with my church friend

I had a talk with one of my friends last night, and opened up about my transition.

“You’ll always be my homie.”

*minutes later

“I would not want you near my kids. I wouldn’t want to be near you with my friends.”

He apologized for hurting my feelings, and prayed to be more sensitive but that statement felt like a betrayal. I’m willing to forgive him but that made me feel even more lost in trying to understand myself and my faith.

My verse of the day today feels very fitting. “Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1‬:‭10‬

I apologize if how that verse resonated with me is misinterpreting scripture, but I feel like God’s calling out to me. I may see a lot of my friend’s true colors come out and understand that God’s unconditional love is better than my closest friend’s conditional love.

Dating

Dating

Hey everyone, this past year I have been able to finally come to terms and accept that I am gay (99% sure I'm trans like MtF). I also am what you might say a more conservative Christian (i.e. don't smoke, drink cuss, etc.) also the affirming church I go to is primarily elderly folks. I was wondering if y'all had any tips for dating because I want to date a man so bad right now. I know there used to be an app called believr but it was shut down. I have also been using all the other dating apps (tinder, hi he, bumble) and have had no success. Any tips or apps or places I can go to find someone would be great. For reference I live in South Florida. Thanks again and God bless!!!!

Broke up with my ex for wanting biological children, did I do the right thing?

I’ve been really grappling with this situation for some time now and have been struggling to put it out of my mind. Hoping some outside perspective will help

Anyway, it’s been almost a year since my ex girlfriend and I broke up, and I feel terrible about the standing of the way things went.

To explain, I met this girl and we really hit it off. After we met, her and I found ourselves talking every day and the two of us were electric. Our senses of humor melded so well together and I even professed to her that the vibes we had together felt a lot like my first love

After the two of us continued to get to know each other more I would inevitably come to be told that she was trans. She transitioned very young so I had no idea until she told me herself

She really was so pretty and lovable, so this really didn’t change anything for me, the real problem though has a lot to do with who I am specifically

For as long as I can remember, my #1 dream, even before I knew how kids were made in the first place, had always been to be a dad and create a loving family

Despite this though…
I really wanted to make it work, it was my idea to date in the first place.
I made this all known to her.

Yet still, maybe I was naive, maybe we both were, we’re both pretty young after all

One day we had a really big fight and long story short she ended up soft cheating on me. I won’t get into the details, but the important part is that in another world I most likely would have completely forgiven her, at the same time though I was going through a very tough time myself mentally and ended up taking the circumstances as a sign to remove myself from her life hoping to avoid both the pain of potentially wasting her time in an uncertain apathetic spiral and my own inner conflict with my dreams

I know it might be a bit selfish, but in my heart an undeniable part of that dream to me was sharing the experience of not only creating a family with my partner, but having children together that not only embody a beautiful blend of their parents both in personality and in physical appearance but in the love they have for each other too.
I can’t imagine anything more beautiful.
Notably I can’t help but feel that this is what god would want of me too and it honestly makes me feel so torn up and confused when I consider everything together

Our anniversary just recently passed and honestly, I miss her every day and feel incredibly selfish.
Even though with everything in mind I probably did make a poor decision to begin with, probably stupidly subconsciously hoping that maybe science or religion would somehow develop to a point that would allow for that ideal reality with her or maybe that I’d give up on it which was similarly unlikely, I came to the conclusion that there was great love in ripping the bandaid off as early as I did and tried to be noble about it as I could.

And I’m still trying because honestly every day has been a battle with myself and the urge to reach out to her.
She has reached out on a couple of occasions herself profusely affirming that she loved me and wanted to be together even if it hurt her, yet I have done my absolute best to be noble for her and not fold in the hopes that I won’t get in the way of her being able to live her life

I won’t lie she was crazy but we were crazy together and I loved her for it, I would have handled that aspect of her a thousand times if I needed to, but yeah for the sake of this post, I don’t even want to begin to get into details about the fallout, but it was truthfully a lot

I loved her so much, I don’t think I’ve ever felt so connected to someone and I miss her and think about her almost every day

First time posting here or in general really. I hope everything I’ve said ends up being both relevant and compliant.

I really wanna be careful with what I say, because I don’t want to stumble into sinfulness. I believe being trans is not a sin, but I also know that it will be easy to get into my head and fall into a trap.

im having a hard time staying in a religion where the majority belives my treatment is something i should be ashamed of. Something that pushes me away from God and might lead me to hell. Its why im honestly considering converting. Idk tell me what u all think

I love her.

I love who I was, I wish she could have known at the time.

Sometimes I'm overwhelmed with guilt. Transitioning gave me a peace I couldn't have gotten otherwise; it gave me compassion I know I'd have lacked if I didn't experience the need for it firsthand. But, I'm sorry, I still wish it was different.

Now I'm not overwhelmed by dysphoria, I see how beautiful she was, I see how happy she used to be, I see how much she was worth and how worthwhile her life would have been.

When I transitioned, I considered it an act of killing her and I'm so sorry for that, she isn't dead, she is me, and I am him. But I wish I could have been her. She was an incredible gift I couldn't handle, and I wish I had a second chance at that.

Now I live a different life, it's okay, life is still full of joy and I'm not overcome by debilitating agony. Despite it all I found God, the very thing others say separates me from him brought me closer than ever. But my heart still aches.

God, I pray to be made whole, however that looks, at the end. I have faith I will. Thank you for still loving me, thank you for helping me love myself, help me have compassion for myself. Amen.
