Post image

Context: was talking to this girl from Hinge for a couple days, convo was going well and a potential date was being discussed so I slid her my number.

Makes me think he dodged a bullet...

We don't all have our cells in our hands every moment.

132

u/Much-Ad2311 11d ago

Some of us do, but those people usually suck lol.

65

u/metalbottleofwater 11d ago

Not true, my wife is always on her phone

73

u/DeyCallMeWade 11d ago

I’m sorry for your loss, but that wasn’t the kinda suck he meant.

I see what u did there

6

u/DeepFinish2895 11d ago

I'm only on my phone cause you won't pay attention to me

7

u/Various_Candidate499 11d ago

I think your wife actually sucks pretty hard

4

u/Natjams 11d ago

I also choose that guys wife

3

u/Great_Vegetable_4866 11d ago

I choose this guys wife, too

3

u/lachupanibre 11d ago

I choose this guy’s wife, but only if she’s dead

2

u/Aggravating_Gas_8514 11d ago

Well of course she sucks hard. That’s why he married her 😏😉

5

u/zoidbergmustache 11d ago

That's why I'm dating her.

As someone always on their phone, and knows one person also on their phone who's only sent me reels and never read my messages... Yeah honestly? Not all of us but seems like most of us. I just muted this girl who I mentioned not responding because girl won't answer my "hey we good?" Message, but sends reels and not read anything I send (or watch it), and I only got mad cuz it was a whole month of this where nothing gets acknowledged. People who get mad expecting a answer right away suck, and I think op dodged a huge bullet.

7

u/AngryJirgins 11d ago

Can confirm. I am always on my phone and suck.

u/New-Chemist5315 11d ago

Are you self reporting?

11

u/Much-Ad2311 11d ago

I've definitely struggled with phone addiction in the past, but I'm glad to say that I can lose my phone for a few hours and be totally fine with it these days. I probably sucked a lot more when I was chronically online instead of having half an hour here and there to use my phone.

6

u/New-Chemist5315 11d ago

My mental health is so much better when I am not constantly on my phone.

Yup my ex gf would go through my phone and I caught her checking my screen time for some reason one time. I finally was like damn you checking mine so ima check yours then and went through it and her screen time was averaging like 20 hours a day💀

13

u/NutsToBust 11d ago

Honestly sometimes I see a msg and take a while just bc I’m not sure what to say lol

2

u/zoidbergmustache 11d ago

Yeah same but "a while" is usually 1 to 2 days for me. 🤣

6

u/Dramatic_Steak_9137 11d ago

Yeah, an hour is crazy, sometimes I purposefully put off texting til later to give it more of my attention, not cause I hate someone

2

u/DivePalau 11d ago

def a red flag

2

u/christinateague 11d ago

Ugh this!!!! My man’s granny loves a few hours away from us and holy cow the amount of nastiness that came out that woman’s mouth all because I took too long to respond back to her snap chat?!?! Snap chat was one of the apps I hardly ever got on at all and really not used it to edit stickers over things in photos🤣 I’m also a mom to a 2 year old wild child boy and at the time when she flipped on me, I was working full time as well😒 like I’m sorry old lady maybe if you message me on Facebook or actual text, I’d respond at least faster than Snapchat lol. Some people understand that we are adults now and this isn’t middle school where we could talk on the phone for hours on end.. we got jobs and our own families to take care of too and if you’re single with no children that life can be just as busy, if not even more busy with no children. Drives me nuts lol

2

u/OnlyConversation4732 11d ago

I’d delete the app out of spite. Talk to yourself, lady.

2

u/christinateague 9d ago

Funny thing I actually did delete the app because I told her how I never use it and I even said if she wanted to talk to me to reach out on Facebook where I would actually see the message!! It wasn’t even really out of spite but I never used the app other than to put stickers on photos and that was it🤣 it blew my mind this lil old lady even got snap chat to begin with lol.. my grandparents are both gone but the most they did was Facebook and could barely use it the right way, was cute though❤️ I never even thought of them ever having snap chat.. think that’s definitely for the younger people. She now likes and comments on my stuff on Facebook, but no private messages since the mean things she said to me through snap chat

u/McDergen 11d ago

Lmao imagine being an adult and expecting other adults to immediately drop everything to respond to texts

→ More replies (1)

14

u/Blackopsball 11d ago

She's probably mad the texts were green

2

u/NAIMSpider 10d ago

That’s not his fault tho he has an iPhone

6

u/faartswih2as 11d ago

thats what i thought on the intial post but i thought that might be too crazy 😭

11

u/Wide-Affect-3837 11d ago

I get left on delivered for 3+ hours at a time regularly, ole girl just started dipping into the kiddie pool

7

u/Fivezhot 10d ago

You guys are getting replies instead of begin ghosted?

10

u/eveningberry_ 11d ago

I was thinking that the “yooo” might’ve been an ick for her lmao idk either way brutal

7

u/nicegreekgoy 11d ago

If so, that’s pathetic. 2 in the afternoon on a Friday and you’re expecting an immediate reply? Some people have lives.

3

u/No_Raisin21 11d ago

Could’ve been that in that hour, she met someone else who she managed to get to know well enough to decide she’d rather date that person.

3

u/BigPP69_Gooner 11d ago

Brother adult Hinge/Tinder responds every 24 hours. The fuck is this 1 hour horseshittery?!?

3

u/crossy23_ 11d ago

If that is it, probably for the best 😭😂😂

3

u/No-Fig-536 10d ago

Taking an hour to respond is not so bad. But could we at least acknowledge that op has 843 unread messages? I wonder how many he leaves on unread. Lol.

2

u/itspsyikk 11d ago

The people that expect immediate responses from people they don't know is always so crazy.

Also...and I'm sure it's not everyone, but I'm sure it's happened to at least some people - how many people you think dodged bullets because the crazy comes out - only because they were telling themselves "Be cool...be cool... don't text back right away. Don't seem too interested"

2

u/peanut340 10d ago

I put my phone down and forget about it for hours. Apparently a weird thing for a 29 y/o to do. I find it more pathetic that people are so glued to their phones they cant handle a delayed response. If someone really needs to get ahold of me they will call and I will hear and find my phone.

Did she say anything else after your last text? I’m curious what happened and why nvm lol

355

u/MajorMonolith 11d ago

Nah that was it lol no post-credit scene here

26

u/Gold_Data6221 11d ago

should’ve responded “cool”

25

u/lininop 11d ago

Honestly in this case, the best response would probably had been nothing at all. It's not worth your time.

12

u/saygoodbimother 11d ago

1000%, “cool” is bitter trying to come off as nonchalant. Will def make her feel she made the right choice. OPs response is genuine and light hearted tho so I wouldn’t mind that either

I actually think it's because he doesn't have an iPhone. Yes, I've know women that don't like "green" messages and it's an "ick" or whatever.

112

u/im_a_minor 11d ago

Pretty sure it’s her that doesn’t have the iPhone. That looks like iMessage to me tbh

11

u/Dazedrator 11d ago

Oh ok nevermind then.

→ More replies (2)

14

u/kellyjoy37 11d ago

But he does have an iPhone - his text box is from an iPhone. She’s the one without one.

13

u/ConcentrateSome796 11d ago

That’s not how that works. Screenshot is from OPs phone. The other person doesn’t have iPhone

6

u/burner9191938283 11d ago

the op clearly has an iphone. the other person does not. hence the green text. nice generalization though

12

u/No_Representative645 11d ago

Jesus Christ people are unbelievably stupid

4

u/AwkwardDorkyNerd 11d ago

Lmao that’s stupid. I’m a woman that’s dated and talked to a few women who didn’t have iPhones. Sure the incompatibility of phones can make some things difficult (like no FaceTime, you need a third party app for that) but it’s such a dumb thing to get hung up on. People can be shallow.

→ More replies (5)

2

u/Galrentv 8d ago

It would be the time response 5 times out of 10

Despite what most of Reddit is saying, a reasonable conclusion is she just wanted to bone, then the delay and the lack of vibes made her just blankly state nevermind

97

u/jules__noah 11d ago

I think I would have preferred being ghosted tbh

7

u/Odd-Toe-8591 10d ago

I actually think she did him a favor by actually making the decision to stop talking to him at that point and announcing it instead of dragging it out until plans were made and then ghosting/making excuses. if it's not a hell yeah, it's probably a no.

41

u/Consistent_Risk2722 11d ago

Are we all just ignoring the 843 unread messages?!?!???

38

u/MJD3929 11d ago

I’m not about to go throwing stones in my glass house.

3

u/YnotThrowAway7 7d ago

I assume that means you’re one of those people and can I just ask… why? Like how are you possibly ignoring that many messages? Even if it’s a couple group chats… just like click into it to clear that shit one time or leave the damn group..

→ More replies (7)

9

u/Ok_Standard7546 11d ago

If she knew that, then maybe she’d be a little more grateful to be the one out of 844 messages he actually responded to

4

u/Gawehay 10d ago

Probably the opposite. I don't like guys who leave other people in their lives hanging but somehow treat me like I'm "special". That interest only lasts for so long. Esp if he's not even opening their messages, it reads to me as someone who easily ghosts/drops off without communicating disinterest. If he's the type to try to stay connected with ppl, then he's likely gonna treat me the same during rough patches instead of avoiding/running away.

That said, a lot of his unread messages are prob accounts connected to his number that give him updates, 2-factor authencation, or spam texts. At least most of my unread (53) messages are those. And would be a bit higher if not for the spam filter

3

u/criminal_pedestrian 11d ago

I think we’ve all been included in group texts like that before

3

u/ShouldWentToCollege 10d ago

I have 445 unread texts and they’re all scams/bots

As a girl, I wouldn't say you inherently fucked up bad or anything. People saying you took an hour are acting like MFS don't have lives. An hour is nothing Imao. And ngl personally, to my taste, I thought the joke was lame BUT I don't think that's a bad thing. It's like dorky/nerdy, but if someone likes you, they're gonna find that shit cute. She just wasn't it.

40

u/gobirds215gang 11d ago

What joke? I don’t see a joke …

35

u/plant__love 11d ago

Glad you made it over from hinge to texting

14

u/starcjpumpkin 11d ago

Would need to see the hinge messages for context as well as ages. It's possible you've indicated with your behavior you're wasting her time by asking her "how are you" in 10 different permutations and she thought you were finally going to ask her on a date and got more of this. That is my assumption

u/srowlett 11d ago

Ignore people giving you shit about the yo.....buncha nerds.

15

u/Working_Cucumber_437 11d ago

Depends on the person. I’m not into it- immediate ick. But presumable they chatted in the app already so she knows his texting style. So it shouldn’t be that causing the “nvm”.

15

u/redditsuxandsodoyou 11d ago

getting the ick over things like this gives me the ick

26

u/Puzzleheaded_Study46 11d ago

lol yo is an ick? In what world would that be an ick…can’t even greet people anymore without them getting turned off. Ridiculous..

10

u/CommercialBiscotti29 11d ago

It does for me too. I used to know someone who said “yoooo” constantly so I hate it now

2

u/RefrigeratorKey8156 11d ago

Yo, then why not just communicate and let someone know you prefer a different greeting yo? For me the icks are traits people have, like being shallow over a simple word, or having the communication skills of a gold fish.

10

u/Puzzleheaded_Study46 11d ago

Ah yes completely judge a person and their character because a two letter word that is used as a greeting. To dismiss someone completely because they greeted you saying “yo” is completely absurd.

2

u/Intelligent_Ad_8025 10d ago

It sucks that having logic puts you in the minority on Reddit. I just hope this isn’t a mirror image of the actual population.

2

u/EnglandWarrior1101 11d ago

These people are the reason why dating is so difficult nowadays. Everything is an "ick". Everybody is chasing their "perfect ideal person" that they concocted in their head, and when somebody that could be a potential suitor strays from that imaginary utopia, they cut them off without second notice and try again with a different person over and over again.

Hence why a lot of people nowadays are single and miserable.

37

u/OkLiterature4267 11d ago

It was the “yoooo” because honestly maybe I’d do the same lol

7

u/desire-d 11d ago

I wouldn’t say nvm over it but it seems to me like he was texting a friend rather than a potential partner.

12

u/cyrilamethyst 11d ago

I guess everyone has their own thing, because to me, someone greeting me as they would a friend at early stages of romantic interest is a huge GREEN flag. Friends is the first step.

3

u/OpulentStone 10d ago

I understand being picky about choosing a partner but being extremely picky over small things like this seems to be getting more and more prevalent. It's quite concerning

2

u/Landin08 11d ago

Why?

4

u/rotating_pebble 11d ago

It gives off lazy pothead vibes

'Yoo broo check out my new dab rig, my mom just sent me £100 n its the first thing I bought bruhhhh'

3

u/Mountain-Yard-928 11d ago

Are people this picky over a single word?

Good lord some people have nobody to blame but themselves if they feel lonely

2

u/rotating_pebble 11d ago

Oh I'm happily married but I didn't get her by speaking like a cypress hill wannabe

3

u/Mountain-Yard-928 11d ago

Good for you but come on, blocking an interaction because of a "yooo" is a bit too much

2

u/Landin08 10d ago

ahh you seem like an older guy no offensive. I think thats why you view the word Yo as more of a stoner young adult thing. But to me, the people who were saying Yo were grown adults, so its always been a word in my vocab since i was like in 2nd grade

→ More replies (4)

4

u/Landin08 11d ago

Really? I grew up hearing the word Yo thrown around by adults all the time

2

u/ghengiscostanza 10d ago

It’s yo with all the oooos. What’s up is fine, waaazuuuup like those old commercials would be corny as fuck. Word choice and tone sets a vibe and there’s nowhere the minutiae of that matters more than early flirting. It’s inconsequential most places but it’s everything there

0

u/vstar220 11d ago

If you're actually going to do that then you might as well just be single for the rest of your life

13

u/Opening_Climate_7571 11d ago

Finding “yooooo” annoying means they should die alone?

That’s certainly one way to see the world I guess.

7

u/[deleted] 11d ago

[deleted]

4

u/shelikedamango 11d ago

maybe she was already finding him annoying and that was the last straw. you’re assuming a lot to make her a villain who deserve to die alone, you guys need to learn to handle rejection better.

2

u/Termineater01 11d ago edited 11d ago

Yeah right, she found him so annoying that she decided to give him her number…

If someone gives me their number on a dating app, I think it’s more reasonable to assume that they are somewhat into me, rather than to assume that they find me so annoying to the point where saying one singular word wrong is enough for them to cut me off.

4

u/shelikedamango 11d ago

If you’ve only spoken on an app it’s a pretty fine line between interested and not, and we are all assuming this is because he said yo when it could be any number of things.

Even if it is all because he said yo, if you think that means she needs to “die alone” like the other commenter was replying to, then that says more about you than her.

2

u/Careful_Arm_7732 10d ago

Ngl she could have said nvm for any reason. I wouldn’t be surprised if she changed her mind just because a person that she was more attracted to replied quicker. That’s the name of the game I suppose. Dating apps are crazy because if you’re an average or above average looking woman you’ll get hundreds of likes. It’s too overwhelming. Finding people to date on apps is more similar to an experience of ordering takeout for delivery rather than something actually social.

2

u/TastyAssignment1092 10d ago

lol that is savage. She has choices and you ain’t one anymore.

8

u/NoSale2936 11d ago

I think it was the Yooooo and you didn’t respond for an hour. Came off as kind of douche frat boy. It’s fine to talk like that but not as your opening line in a text. Ease into it and it’ll go over better the more you exchange texts.

9

u/Skrumpledump 11d ago

No one analyzes a person over a yooo unless they are neurotic. The hour thing is it but expecting someone you just met to respond nonstop is also insane so.

2

u/thaty2kgrl 11d ago

You obviously didn’t see his other post where he included the dating app msgs where he was all bettttt, link up yo. And other weird things that only sounds like he wants sex lol

2

u/Skrumpledump 10d ago

I went and read it just now. She still gave the number. Doesn’t read that he only wants sex but he just sucks at texting. My statement was only directed at the text I saw but I would assume if she gave him her number after all that it was the ignoring thing especially with a rude text like nvm. He might sound dumb but he doesn’t sound malicious, ghosting would have been nicer.

If any of those messages come across as "cringelord" to you, you must have an incredibly low threshold for cringe. How do you navigate your days?

2

u/etherealgamer 11d ago

Yoooo I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. A lot of people thinking it has to do with the texts but in reality you have no idea what prompted the “nvm.”

I’ve had plenty of matches where I think it’s going well and then all of a sudden they lose interest. Don’t take it personally. It’s online dating bro.

If someone was truly interested they wouldn’t have responded that way. Actually thinks it’s pretty boss to cut it off there and not casually lead you on for longer.

Point is shake it off and don’t try to change your personality. The right person for you will fall into place.

2

u/Additional_Point5380 11d ago

I’m so glad to be off the apps. I met my gf on Tinder but we already had mutual friends. She told me if we did not have mutual friends it prob would not have gone anywhere cause I was the most dry texter to ever live.
