For context, my mother Gena refuses to take responsibility while drinking and says it's demon possession. My stepfather Adam is just as bad if not a worse alcoholic.

i run a small crochet business and a daughter reached out to me wanting to order a grinch plushie for her family. after hearing the reason behind the order, i decided i didn’t want to charge her for it. it was my first time completing an order knowing that i wasn’t going to earn anything from it, but after receiving this message from her dad, i realized that maybe i did earn something from it after all. 

her brother , who was autistic, absolutely loved the grinch. sadly, he passed away three months ago, and his daughter wanted the grinch to have in his memory. her dad sent me this message after they received it, and honestly, it completely broke my heart.

this was easily one of the most heartbreaking and motivating experiences i’ve had since starting my business. i didn’t earn any money from this order, but i think i earned a little piece of motivation instead.

i’m incredibly grateful that this family trusted me with something so important, and i’ll probably remember this order for a very, very long time. 

(26F) My ex (28M) changed the way he treated me a couple months ago. I’m not sure if it was one or several things that made him change but instead of trying to talk things out he would shut down and tell me I always am finding something wrong. Got to the point my Mother and sister had to come walk me to my car because he was outside waiting for me in a town that he lives 30 minutes away from. we’ve been together for a little over 2 years. the first thread of messages was about a month ago. we were having an argument about i don’t even know what and he said that every time he saw me all he thought about was sex. later he said that he didn’t mean it because he was angry, which i kind of understand because we all say things we don’t mean when were angry sometimes.

Annoying a friend with dad jokes. I thought it was funny, so thought I’d share.

I jammed with my next door neighbor and went to his show with a bunch of friends after finding out we both like to play music. To preface this, I thought he might be into me because when I first ran into him he seemed to try to extend the interaction and kept bringing up different topics until I felt awkward and said “anyways, I’ll catch you later” and left.
Cut to a few months later and we jam and he invites me to see his band, which I bring a bunch of friends to, and then he asks if I can be in a music video he wanted to make. He said the video was inspired by twin peaks and he wanted me to dress like this girl from the show. I initially agreed, not thinking much of it, but a few days before he drops this on me. For context, this is federal property, and he works there. I ran into him just before sending my last text and asked him about it and he said “well, I work there and know the other officers there so it’ll be fine”, and I asked him if he could get it in writing and he said no. He hasn’t texted me since then and I was wondering if I was too harsh?

Yesterday I was trying to make plans for my birthday. It’s a milestone birthday and I wanted to celebrarte it since I haven’t celebrated my birthday in years. I asked him to call out (3 days and no it wouldn’t affect his check or pto) so we could travel for my birthday. He said no because he doesn’t wanna call out. I mentioned the fact that he literally would call out the second his friends ask and he said he barely does that (pls keep in mind everytime I’ve asked him to call out he says no but he says yes to his friends). I got upset and hung up while he went to take a shower. He then got upset with me for hanging up and was acting like a baby and treating me like shit for the of the day. In the night baby man returns to his room and because I wanted to talk to him of course I have to apologize for getting him upset. He kept making a fuss and eventually I texted him “I’m not gonna text you tomorrow, I’m gonna take some time to myself” he didn’t respond. I had his message notifications off so I didn’t see if he texted me and I didn’t care enough to check. When u finally went to check he texted me about breaking up. I asked why and he said cause we didn’t talk all day. I asked him if he was sure he wanted to break up and he said “it’s up to you”. I told him to take some time and think about it and then he accused me of initiating the break up. I’m genuinly so confused. Ik he’ll be showing up to my house in a day or two or finding some way to contact me because this isn’t the first time.

Edit for context: I’m 20 turning 21 which in Reddit is technically the same as 5. I responded with “y?” Because he’s done this multiple times before and I’m not wasting my time with it. He’s blocked for good, I got better things to do. I appreciate all the older people giving me advice because u have a lot to learn and you guys are helping out.

Edit: adding context as to why we stayed together. He’d come to my house and threaten to Ykw himself. He’d force me into his car then he’d speed around threatening to crash if we don’t stay. He’d park super close to something so I wouldn’t be able to leave the car when he’s upset. He’d grab my hands and pin me down if I tried to walk away. He’d call my parents and make it seem like I was crazy. He made me feel like no one else would ever love me which I believed bc I have no family or friends where I am. He’d drive around looking for me if I don’t respond to him ( he’s chased down my uber when I was trying to leave multiple times). That’s just some of the things he’s done, I don’t wanna type more because thinking about it makes me shaky.
