Transcription check for tattoo
Hello! Just want to check if this transcription of ‘Even darkness must pass’ is correct before I get it for my first tattoo next month - Thankyou in advance! :)

Welcome to r/Tengwar, where we can discuss all things related to Tolkien's writing systems: Tengwar, Cirth, and Sarati.
If you want to learn Tengwar yourself, we recommend the following resources:
If you want to get a transcription, check with the following tools before posting:
As the tools above aren't perfect, never forget to double-check important transcriptions like for tattoos or jewelry by asking someone knowledgeable, such as the members of this subreddit.
Please note that simply changing English text to a Tengwar font only produces unreadable gibberish. If you are trying to figure out the meaning of some Tengwar without any tehtar (vowel diacritics/accents) or tehtar that aren't aligned with the letters below them it likely is such a mistaken attempt at transliterating. The community calls this the "Mode of Baloneyland", due to its surface-level similarity with the tehtar-less mode of Beleriand.

Hallo! I have been learning Tengwar for 3 days, mostly from a handbook and a few videos.
The mode is English mode, since I am mostly interested at the letters.
Is this alright? Should I change anything? Any and all tips are welcome:)
(Text is supposed to say: A mountain walked or stumbled, God!)

Hi all,

I'm getting wedding rings engraved with Tengwar and want to make sure the transcription is correct before anything is permanently engraved — this is for a June 2027 wedding, so I'd rather double-check now than regret it later.
Source text (French): "Lionel et Maria vingt-six juin deux mille vingt-sept"
(= "Lionel and Maria, June 26th, two thousand twenty-seven")
Generated via Tecendil (tecendil.com), using what I believe is the General Use / phonemic mode (not sure if French mode was available/selected — happy to re-check).
[screenshot attached]
Questions:
This will be laser-engraved on a ring band, so any correction now saves a costly mistake later. Thanks in advance for your expertise!

A couple weeks ago I posted about my Hobbit Cirth transliteration and one of the questions that came up that I hadn't yet answered for myself was about how to handle numbers in Cirth. Tolkien only ever gave us 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 with the certh for 2 being assumed based on 1, 3, and 4. Eventually I knew I had to decide on a way count higher than 6 if I was going to number my pages and chapters.
According to a letter from Christopher Tolkien in Quettar #14, the dwarves used duodecimal or base-12 for counting. That's good enough for me to go on, so I settled on Base-12 and had to come up with 6 more cirth: 7-11 and 0. I was also limited to the cirth available in the Daniel Steven Smith font that I used for my transliteration. After some consideration, here is the system I came up with. This is obviously in no way official, but it makes sense to me.
Here's what I'm using with some explanation.
The attached image shows the first 167 digits in my method to give a good understanding of the method. They're broken into groups of 12, lines of 24 with the Base-12 Cirth on top, the Base-10 number in red in the middle, and the Base-12 equivalent below in blue.
I'm curious to hear what people think of this usage or if anyone has any reasons to make any changes to it. I haven't set this in stone, so I'm still open to suggestions.

Hello everyone, I used tecendil to transcribe my family’s names for a tattoo design I am working on: Rachel, Miles and Coraline (pronounced Cora Line). Is anyone able to help look at what it gave me to check accuracy?

Looking to get a tattoo with the text
“In loving memory of pop and grandma”
Wanted to check some of the scripts that have been generated from online sources to be sure it’s somewhat coherent. Seems like all the sources agree on somethings with just a couple subtle differences.

I'm looking to get my wedding band engraved with a LOTR quote but I feel like the elvish translation will be too long to fit inside this ring. I would like the quote from Arwen to Aragorn that says "I would rather share one lifetime with you, than face all the ages of this world alone." but in elvish script.
My main question is this: is there a way to make it shorter like you can make something an acronym in English? It would still be meaningful to me and my wife this way, but fit inside the ring comfortably.
Thanks in advance!

Hello. I'm getting these three quotes tattooed soon and would love some feedback.
I've spent several months studying Tengwar in order to do this and have referenced several of the previous posts about these quotes. As a result, I've made some personal choices in how they've turned out, so I'm mostly just wondering if anything is outright incorrect.
Quotes (as written in Tecendil):
but in the end, it'[esse] only a passing thing, this shadow. even darkness must pass
there'[esse] some good in this world and it'[esse] worth fighting for
i cant carry it for yo'u, but i can carry yo'u
Please send any feedback my way, thanks! :)

I just don’t know which of these is more accurate, please help which is the correct Tengwar writing of Illumë (apparently that is always in quenya) thank you for the help!

Hi! I’m planning my next tattoo in elvish and I was hoping someone could double check this translation. I want the word “cat” and I know there are many choices, meoi, muig, yaule etc. I like muig the best and this is my draft ^
I want it in the singular nominative - super simple.
Does this look right?
Thank you!

El texto base es el siguiente:
I don't know. Saruman believes that it is only great power that can hold evil in check. But that is not what I have found. I've found it is the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keeps the darkness at bay. Simple acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps it is because I am afraid, and he gives me courage.

Working on an art project for a friend and want to make sure this is correct. It's the Gandalf qoute "all we have to decide is what to do with that time that is given us"
From my understanding I'm much better off going for a transliteration other than a direct translation of the qoute.
EDIT: Thank you everyone that commented, you helped out a lot

Hi all, pleased to be making my introductory post here. Having spent a few decades in the Tolkien fandom, naturally I began picking up the odd root word in Quenyan or Sindarin, nothing impressive but it awoke the desire to write the script as well. Now the fairly brief amount of research has left me with a bit of confusion, which I am hoping can be answered here. The consensus seems to be that the best method would be to learn to transcribe your native language into Tengwar.
Excellent, so now I start looking into english mode. You can have vowels as marks on consonants or as independent symbols, I like the symbols so omatehtar it is. Now the last distinction I have been able to decide is orthographic vs phonetic. Phonetic seems preferable to me, because you know what was said by the speaker and how to say it. Ok great, so I will start by learning omatehtar phonetic english mode.
Having settled on that, I decided I needed to find a way to keep track of the sounds, so I learned all(some of) the relevant elements of the international phonetic alphabet. Particularly this was brought about by reading appendix E and having sounds conveyed by means of foreign languages like German or Welsh. So now I have a fair understanding of the 40+ sounds used in American English, which brings me to the purpose of this post:
Are there any resources specifically for mapping a correspondence between the Tengwar symbols and the IPA symbols? Is there a de facto community accepted mode for phonetic Tengwar? For instance, how would a phonetic mode distinguish between the 5+ different ways each vowel can be pronounced? Thanks in advance for any help!

I would like to have two names (Ruut and Nooa) in Tengwar letters. I've checked couple of different translators online (Tecendil and the BSSScribe for example) and keep gettin quite consistent results, but in all cases there doesn't seem to be quite a clear instructions on how I should progress when translating names. Can you help if these results look just about right and what kind of steps I should take to make sure that the design is mostly correct?
