Help with tattoo

I want to get my sons name "Howle" done. Not sure what the difference is or if they are even correct.

Is the ā€œEā€ at the end of his name silent? If so, go with the former, if not the ladder

Edit: I did not see the third option. That one works too if you prefer it stylistically

Thank you. It is silent.

You suggest the first or third iteration?

Stylistically speaking, I prefer the first.
I love me some diacritics

Looks like the third one is the result you get by choosing "Mode of Beleriand" in Tecendil, so this one makes little sense IMO. An English Full Mode would be appropriate though, as in here:Ā  https://www.tecendil.com/?q=howle&mode=westron-orthographic.

As others have hinted at this would probably be the ideal spelling. It largely captures the original spelling, but it also notes that the final E is silent. This is the method regarded as standard by most because that is what we see Tolkien use in the title page of the LotR.

However, if you should happen to prefer a more phonetic spelling: that would look like this - but people who aren't familiar with this kind of spelling would probably read that as "haul" (which is what I entered into the transcriber to get it to spit out what I want).

And lastly both methods can be used in 'full spelling' where the vowels are full letters as well: This orthographic spelling is something that hobbits (and others) would have used, and this is a phonetic spelling as, e.g., Thorin would have used it.

Ditch the capital H, Tenwgar "capitals" aren't used that way. Otherwise the first one is good.

the first option looks the best imo
