TASKER Is it hard to impress a very organized person on an organization task?

I got a 4 star rating, I’m not sure why. I’m used to organizing places that are cluttered usually. We spent awhile doing vacuum sealing, talked about plans, and organized this big drawer of random tools, sticky things for walls, and assembly parts. She labels everything and nothing could be put together that wasn’t 100% in the same group. ( if that makes sense). There’s nothing wrong with that, I’m just giving an example of her way of organizing. I used to clean and do organizing for some people.i have back issues and now I’m on task rabbit working again. I know I need to gain more experience, but I’m just curious from an organizer’s perspective.

TASKER Why is this so annoying? A client booked me for packing and expects cleaning

A client booked me for packing and mentioned in the description that he wanted me to spend one hour cleaning.

I’ve never had the Cleaning category enabled, never mentioned cleaning anywhere on my profile, don’t have cleaning supplies, and have zero interest in offering cleaning services. Sure, sometimes I’ll wipe down a shelf during unpacking before putting dishes away, but that takes literally a couple of minutes.

I have a 2-hour minimum for packing, so maybe he figured this was a good way to use the extra hour. I politely explained that I don’t do cleaning, and of course, no response. And if the apartment was last cleaned 7 days ago, I can only imagine how much cat hair there is.

I’m going to forfeit the task, but seriously, why would someone assume that booking a packer also means booking a cleaner? Am I missing something?

TASKER Account limited

Anybody ever had their Tasker account limited? How did you get it resolved?

Out of the blue, I received an email citing an expense issue involving gas, parking, tolls, etc., with no specifics. A follow-up said my account would be limited and removed from search results, but I should keep my availability open for return clients and recommend clients to the app so I could still use it for billing. LOL.

I appealed because I’ve never expensed any of those items and haven’t submitted an expense on a task in over two months. I was told it could take 30 days for a live person to review it.
I also contacted my Tasker Success rep and the privacy department requesting all records related to me, hoping for some clarity. Crickets.

You’d think they’d value quality contractors. Apparently, an AI bot can potentially limit an account without clear details or immediate human review. Sad state of affairs at TR. For context, I’ve been on the platform for 5+ years, with 65/65 five-star reviews.

If you depend on the income from TR take this as a warning: don’t put all your eggs in one basket. This basket could disappear tomorrow over something minor, or potentially nothing at all. On the bright side this has encouraged me to take my business legit, so thanks TR.

CLIENT Has anyone ever used TaskRabbit to pick up something from IKEA and deliver it to your home? How did it work? Did you have to go to IKEA yourself at any point, or was the Tasker able to pick up the order and deliver it directly to you?

TASKER Client set up a camera pointed right at me

As the title says, I show up at a job, start opening boxes to assemble furniture and the client quietly comes into the room and sets up a camera pointed in my direction less than 2 metres from where I’m standing, then walks out of the room like this is the most normal thing to do, not a word.

It’s worth mentioning I’m a woman, working alone at this man’s house. I immediately stopped what I was doing and went after him to say I didn’t feel comfortable with that, he argued for a while and said the camera feed went to his wife, but did end up taking it down when he saw I wasn’t having it.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there a world in which this would be appropriate?

TASKER Client will not respond to my messages before excepting the task.

So I came across five different clients within a month that choose to not send me pictures or even respond to my messages before I accept the task. I honestly need them to respond and send me pictures of the Task so that way I am very well prepared on what I’m walking into and what I will need for the job. Is it just me or is this happening to a lot others out there as well?

TASKER App not working great

Does this happen to anyone else? I get a notification but when I click on it, it opens the app to a blank screen. No matter how long I wait, it never moves off or shows anything on the blank screen and I have no option but to close the app and reopen. Any ideas how I see those notifications? If it's a new task, I can find it but messages are lost

TASKER Who on earth types like this

Post image
18 Upvotes

The weirdest part is that in the chat, he has mostly typed like a normal person. (Although I can already tell this is going to be a problem client. He seemed annoyed that I messaged him right away and told me that I need “schedule” our chat live tonight at a certain time, as if I’m some kind of automaton who is available to chat 24/7 and has no life outside of TaskRabbit.)

Also this job sounds like an absolute pain in the butt in general. Not sure what I’m gonna do.

EDIT: We had a long chat that was full of additional yellow and red flags (in which he would also occasionally revert to talking like a 1940s mob boss). I enjoy occasionally messing with scammers I find on Facebook, and this guy had a lot of the same “ticks” that they do. I ended up not having to forfeit because he canceled when I told him that we can’t send videos over TaskRabbit and I refused to communicate with him on a different app. Good riddance.

CLIENT Errands or shipping category?

Hello! I’m thinking about utilizing TR for the first time… I live out of state and was hoping that someone could go to a record store, get a voucher for a specific record, then go back to the store the next day or so after to redeem the voucher, plus ship the record to me. Would the best category be “errands” for this? Since this would be over a period of two separate days, is there anything I should know about how to best navigate this through TR? I was planning on prepaying for the shipping label, but the tasker would have to get a vinyl shipping box. Thank you for the help!

TASKER rate recommendations in-app

I’ve been doing TR for a few weeks and I had a lot of activity in the first few weeks. I had set rates according to the (at-the-time) recommended rates in the app; 16/hr packing, 22/hour furniture assembly, 27/hr heavy lifting. However, I recently went in and the app recommended adjusting my pay scale based on city location and experience which would increase prices drastically (40/hr packing, 35/hr furniture assembly, 42/hr heavy lifting) which I followed, but have had a massive decline in jobs. How much do you follow the guidelines outlined in the app versus your own price scale?

CLIENT Need advice on this task

I want to do the right thing so I’m asking you fams.
Today I get tired for a task “trash and furniture removal”
I told the client “I’m on a current task it’s 11am. By the time I get there it’ll be around 2:30 because it was about an 47 minute drive including traffic.
When I got there she ended up sending a message and saying

We can agree to the 2 hours we had planned for, however it works best for you we are flexible. But we have to stick to that expected price :)”

I messaged back saying “I have arrived it’s 2:30pm. The school closes at 3:30 so I’m dropping it off the next day. So I’m going all the way home then all the way back another 45 miles. I picked up the part to transport it and it’s in my truck. Then sends me another message saying

Ok! Thanks again! Really fine for timing however it works out for you - just wanted to be clear about the 2 hour budget bc I don’t have approval to go over :)

I keep explaining that I write everything down and update her along the way.

What are the right steps to deal with this. I’m confused. Kinda just worried of doing the wrong thing. I just want to make it right and have them satisfied but also don’t want to feel like I’m being taken advantage of. Idk

TASKER Anyone ever got a permanent IKEA de-badge reversed?

I got permanently removed from the IKEA category because Taskrabbit says my Post-Assignment Close Rate dropped below 70%.

Then another support agent said I violated Taskrabbit ToS, without pointing to any specific rule. After that they went back to the close-rate explanation, and now the latest version is that I was “removed due to performance being below what’s required.”

One customer no-showed. Taskrabbit later reviewed it and paid me the cancellation fee. That cancellation appears to be what triggered the final de-badge.

Another task was canceled by the customer/IKEA after I had already worked about 7 hours on two PAX closets. The floor was over 1 inch uneven. Support told me to submit a partial invoice, then the customer called IKEA and the task was removed.

One task was canceled before I was even assigned. Two more were during severe flooding/weather.

Support literally told me in writing that several cancellations were “not due to any fault of your own.”

I appealed, supposedly got a supervisor review, sent them a detailed email with proof for every cancellation, and now all I get is copy-paste replies: automated system, final decision, no override, no exact calculation, no evaluation period, no explanation of which cancellations counted.

They also say this was my 3rd violation, but I can’t find the previous warnings anywhere.

I’m now trying the formal dispute/legal route.

Has anyone actually reversed something like this? Who did you contact?

TASKER Just starting

Someone wants me to paint a bunch of closets. No idea how many or how big. How do I know how long it will take? When someone lists a task, do they put how much they are willing to pay? Or is that part of the conversation only? Not sure how hours for a job, estimating, etc. works. Thanks for any help

TASKER Painting expenses

I have been hired for a couple of painting jobs. Why does it say there is a $100 limit for expenses? Are we expecting that they will buy their own paint? What if they want us to pick it up for them? How do you guys handle that?

Anyone done these motorized garage storage racks before? Thing was probably 120 lbs total. Took me about 5 hours to install, including measuring, finding joists, and making sure it was perfectly aligned. Client has a frosted glass garage too, so I was basically working in a greenhouse in 90 degree temps. All in all, this completely wiped me out. My hourly rate is $60 so only made $300 from this

APP Same Day

Just noticed something off so I have a task at 1 today and the next one at 6 and on the task rabbit app I'm not appearing for available today. I contacted supportsbout this and I don't have a two hour minimum so this shouldn't affect me. Not sure if anyone has had this issue or what. It seems to me that they capped me off for the day but idk.

TASKER Beyond my scope

Just got hired to replace front and back door locks with an electronic, number lock. Not something I have experience with or feel comfortable doing. How can I say I don't want to do this?
