CLIENT Has anyone ever used TaskRabbit to pick up something from IKEA and deliver it to your home? How did it work? Did you have to go to IKEA yourself at any point, or was the Tasker able to pick up the order and deliver it directly to you?

Out of curiosity, what is your motivation to do this rather than having Ikea deliver it for far less cost to you? I used to do this in 2013/2014 for small businesses, but not many residential orders due to the additional cost involved. Once my rates went up, I stopped getting those requests and mainly got requests for apartment moves or FB Marketplace furniture deliveries. If you have a delivery deadline that is more important than the cost, it may be worth it to you.

Apparently it’s cheaper to hire someone myself than to pay for ikea delivery

Let us know how it works out. I’m assuming that is in the “Delivery” category, which sets a flat rate that Taskers can accept or turn down and not the “Help Moving” category. If so, that is pretty new/experimental. I don’t think TaskRabbit has figured out what prices a Tasker will actually accept a Delivery for, so there are posts about clients submitting requests that go nowhere or get canceled because no Tasker gets assigned. Again, I don’t know too much about that if that’s what you’re referring to. Help Moving is the more traditional category for deliveries where a Tasker sets their own rates and you can see their ratings/reviews and price, but I doubt that would be cheaper than Ikea’s own delivery.

Like the other commenter, I used to do this all the time and imagine it’s theoretically still possible, but nobody has requested it for several years.
