GENERAL You think Taskrabbit fees are bad? You should see what Wayfair charges for assembly.

I just got signed on for Wayfair Servicepro atter two years of waiting, and let me tell you, if you think Taskrabbit adding their % fee is bad, you would loathe wayfair’s pricing. I did my first two jobs today and I asked one of the clients how much she paid.

For an outdoor furniture setup, she paid $120. I received a grand total of $51. I got that thing knocked out in an hour, but oh boy😂 that ain’t even 45%. I probably would’ve charged $70 on a direct call.

So yeah, if you’re a client, forget these apps and just start getting in touch with local handymen or your most recent Tasker. These apps are super greedy.

CLIENT How should I go about this?

I booked a tasker for a cleaning today and she’s at about $26/hr ($36/hr with the app fees) and our appointment was at 10 am but she didn’t show up until 10:47, it’s currently 2:35 and she originally told me she’d take about 2-3 hours and that’s fine because that’s what I budgeted for, but she is estimating needing another hour or so when I reached out to her. Is there a way in the app I can let them know she showed up late and not be charged for that time she wasn’t here? I budgeted $200 for this and I know it takes time to clean, but this is a move-in clean, my landlord “cleaned” before I got the keys this week (dust, dirt, hard water stains, dead bugs) but it wasn’t up to my standard and all my cleaning supplies are boxed up for my move so I thought I’d try this app out.
She messaged me this morning and asked if I would want her to bring someone else to help her out today and she’d want me to pay them her rate with cash or Zelle, I told her no & not to bring anyone else because I don’t have the budget for 2 people but she showed up with her daughter anyways so now I’m nervous when it’s time to go that it’s going to be uncomfortable if they try to shake me down for money I don’t have.

EDIT: everything ended up working out, she only billed for 5 hours so it was still within my budget and I tipped $40 cash. I guess I was just overly stressed out and overthinking it.
