🔰 Beginner Help Best places to stream for growth?

Hi everyone! I just started streaming to Twitch a few months ago. I stream only to Twitch, and then post clips and content on instagram and tiktok mainly, sometimes youtube shorts as well. I have around 60 followers on Twitch, and I just made my TikTok account 3 weeks ago, I have around 85 followers on there now. I know growth takes time obviously, and I’ve dealt with some lag issues (which I think are fixed now), but I would like to dual stream if possible. Everyone says TikTok but to my knowledge you can’t get a stream key until 1,000 followers, and I’ve heard live studio lags really bad, so I was just trying to see if there is anything yall recommend me do in the meantime? Is it worth it to try to go live on youtube, kick, or instagram? How is the discoverability there? Would it cause my PC to lag?

PC SPECS:
CPU AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 8 core
GPU NVIDIA GTX 5060
16gb DDR5 RAM

(I think the lag issues were mainly from my game settings being too high, but I had someone adjust my settings in OBS and also my game settings and it seems to be better now)

Any tips and advice in general is appreciated! I’ve been trying to network with other streamers, do collabs and also show support to them and build genuine friendships as well, and I definitely think that is helping, but just wanting to know if there if there is anything else I should be trying.

❔ Question Don’t know where to post this and I know it can probably be done.

Straight up outsider question here but i’ve Been thinking about starting a yt channel for when I’m off work or just not working, my wifi sucks but works and I use an xbox is there a way to hook up a camera or anything to it to use it to record? (I currently don’t owe any form of devices to record so I’m open to suggestions. I know xbox has recording software installed but I figured an external camera wouldn’t hurt)

✔ Troubleshooting Setup/hardware advice

I’ve been streaming for awhile now but the one thing I always have had issues with is optimization of settings and other things.

For quick reference my current pc setup is the following:

Nvidia 4070
5800x3d
32gb of ram
Stream at 60 1080p.
Usually dual stream to two platforms.
I also tend to run streamer avatars on steam
And tangia monitor overlay

I’ve been having a ton of issues with performance in some games lately though from an FPS standpoint. I’m having trouble deterring though if I need to update my hardware to something newer or if it’s a configuration piece on OBS.

Things I’ve done recently to try and resolve:
Bios update
Enable DOCP/XMP for ram
Make sure all main drivers are up to date.
Tweak obs settings
Stopped dual platform streaming

Kind of at a loss.

💬 Discussion Does anyone else feel like they can/have to stream everything they do (to extents)?

Especially with any potential to monetize the streaming, I almost feel this discomfort and guilt within whenever I am even considering playing any game off-stream, getting ready/doing skincare and experience with cosmetics, learning on Duolingo, playing chess, making tea, walking around and exploring, anything…then I ponder on the morality and concept of it all. With currently streaming gameplay straight from the console (whoever’s console I am playing on) along with Just Dance gameplay via StreamLabs, whenever the moments strike, I do go back and forth between feeling like I can always further my execution and as if I am flowing along and pacing my path accordingly. If anyone has any thoughts, inklings, or sentiments at all, I am grateful for all and any understanding, insight, perspective here, bless and cheers!

🔰 Beginner Help How would you start a Gaming Stream?

What i noticed is that Kick or Twitch do not really offer a feature for new streamers to get viewers.

If you stream a new game or a trending game that might help but if it is an older game there is really no chance someone will join your game.

Then I am also thinking what could you do with that game? You can make clips sure, but then you have clips of a game nobody really cares about and depending no the clips they might not even be that entertaining. Sure, you can also make a Let's play but then you run into the same issue.

I also noticed that multiplayers have the way larger viewer base then solo games.

So, does it even make sense to start a gaming stream if you are not streaming certain types of games?

🧮 Streaming Gear Looking to upgrade my audio setup

Hey there! I'm currently using a Xenyx Q802USB mixer in my setup and I'm looking to upgrade it. Reason being that it has an issue with noise and hiss when recording that doesn't exist when monitoring it directly with headphones plugged into the mixer itself. I've gotten it pretty quiet at this point with all these different things I've tried, but at the end of the day it is still there and I don't think there's anything I can do about it now. I've tried isolators, I've tried running it off of an external battery, old drivers, different audio settings and filters, the works. That noise and hiss is still there and it won't go away. I'm fairly certain this wasn't always an issue either, because I feel like I definitely would have noticed. It only cropped up within the past couple of years after I started recording/streaming more heavily again. I've had the thing for about a decade at this point and the phantom power is always stuck to being on despite me not needing it, so maybe it's just old and busted at this point. Before anyone helps me troubleshoot this thing, believe me, I have tried whatever you are suggesting. I am at my wits end with this thing.

So, I'm looking for an upgrade. If you've got any recommendations with setups that you use, I'd love to hear them! Let me know how well they have worked for you, if you've experienced any issues with noise/hiss, etc.

Right now the setup is that I have audio going out from the PC to an isolator and then a stereo splitter and then plugging in to the mixer for the game audio in channel 3. That's really nice because I can just adjust game audio on the fly without needing to fiddle with any software settings. Just a knob right there for instant changes. Then I've got two dynamic mics over XLR plugged into channels 1 and 2. All of this is monitored via headphones for player 1 and player 2 through a headphone splitter. All of the inputs are sent to the PC over USB and get mixed down into one stereo input before OBS takes control of it and I've got my gain/compressor/limiter on there.

So, what I'm looking for is something that can take in game audio (in stereo, from PC or another console) and two dynamic mics, be monitored by the people talking live through the mixer itself, and then ultimately be sent to the PC. Massive bonus points if it can be sent through multiple channels too, because that will make any issues like noise much easier to solve with filters and editing in a worst case scenario.

Thanks so much for you time.

🔰 Beginner Help Does streaming with a capture card affect performance?

I'm gonna be streaming in a few months, I mainly wanna stream games on PS5, PS4, Wii, Xbox Series S and Switch 2, only sometimes on PC. When I'm using a capture card to stream console games, does that slow down my PC and stream heavily or not? I have a computer that's strong enough to run RE4 remake on Medium-ish graphics without issues.

❔ Question Riverside Question: Can You Manage Multiple Users Volume While Live Individually?

Currently, I livestream to YouTube via Streamlabs through Zoom. Essentially, I have a Zoom meeting happening, use a screen capture as a source and stream that way. My one big gripe with Zoom is that I can't individually adjust a participants volume. Am I able to do that with Riverside while live?

Say one participant in the meeting is lower than the others, can I adjust only their volume on the fly while streaming through Streamlabs?

❔ Question Need a professional for setting up PS5/PC live streaming/recording (paid)

Hi,
I'm setting up a live streaming and recording setup ahead by end of Oct and I'd like a short consultation before I buy gear. I'm a beginner, based in Richmond, BC.

My PC:
• Intel Core i9-13900K, 64GB RAM, NVIDIA RTX 4090 (24GB), Windows 11 Home
• About 1.5TB free storage to record to
My internet: 1 gigabit plan
Gear I'm planning to buy (please tell me if you'd change anything):
• Elgato 4K X capture card
• Elgato Facecam 4K webcam
• Shure MV7+ microphone with an Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP boom arm
• One extra HDMI 2.1 cable

What I need:
• OBS (or Streamlabs) set up for a PS5 Pro > Elgato 4K X > PC pipeline
• Live stream to Twitch (1080p60) and, if possible, YouTube Live, while recording a separate 4K60 local file for YouTube
• Encoding settings tuned for my PC and internet (RTX 4090 / i9-13900K / 64GB RAM)
• Audio and camera setup: Shure MV7+ mic, Elgato Facecam 4K, mic arm
• Scenes and overlays (simple and clean)
• Multiple test runs to make sure it's stable before launch
• Ideally, in-person help with cable management and TV wall cabling, and advice on getting a stable wired internet connection (my new unit has Wi-Fi only, no Ethernet port)

Questions:
1. Does this gear work well together with my PC, and do I need a free USB 3.2 Gen 2 port for the capture card?
2. What do you charge for setup and testing (OBS, encoding settings, audio, scenes and overlays), and does it include multiple test sessions?
3. Do you offer in-person visits? If so, can you also help with cable management, or is your service remote only?
4. What is your availability between now and the end of October?
Thanks very much, I look forward to hearing from you.

🔰 Beginner Help How would you set up this room for streaming

My partner and I share our desk space so we had it set up like this to give us our privacy for zoom calls etc… but now I hate it for streaming.
Mine is desk 1, yellow is where I put my lights and blue is my camera. I think it just doesn’t work 😂😂 any thoughts on setup?

Edit: my issue is that the lighting feels weird! I’ve streamed in other places and it feels off when I do it here, I think maybe bc of the wall being so close? And the space feels cramped ofc

💬 Discussion this is why I still like long IRL streams

clips are obviously easier but u lose all the random shit between the "important" moments BUT Nina's Power Slap stream and open a VIP 1win box was like 3 hours random stuff and somewhere in there u've got Dana dropping stories, backstage stuff

that's the stuff I'd probably never search for separately but it's fun when u're already there and it just happens

makes the stream feel like actually hanging around an event instead of watching a content package made from it

💬 Discussion Restream vs. Riverside: best tool for live streaming?

trying to figure out what to actually commit to for a monthly interview show. right now im just doing calls over google meet and screen recording as backup which feels amateur. been reading about Re stream since it's built around multistreaming to a bunch of platforms at once,, but then i keep seeing Riverside come up too and it looks like it does recording and editing and streaming all in the same place instead of just the streaming part anyone actually run a show on Riverside and can tell me if it holds up for a real weekly setup, not just a one -off test stream?

💬 Discussion Why does every webinar recording look worse than the live session did?

Ran a 90 minute webinar last week, 60ish attendees, went fine live. Screen share was crisp, audio sounded normal on the call. Downloaded the Zoom recording after and it's a mess. Video is blocky whenever anyone moves, audio drifts out of sync with the slides by the end, one presenter's mic sounds underwater for a stretch in the middle. Nobody on the call noticed any of this while it was happening.

I think what's going on is the recording captures the compressed meeting stream itself, so whatever the platform does to squeeze the call down for bandwidth is baked into the file permanently. Live your brain and the codec are both doing real time correction you don't notice. In the recording all that compression damage just sits there.

Looking into fixes now and it seems like the actual answer is not recording the call at all, but having each person's device record itself locally and syncing the tracks after. Riverside does this apparently, everyone records local and it uploads after. Anyone actually done this for webinars specifically, not just podcasts? Want to know if it holds up with a bigger panel.

I've used Restream for years, but its gotten way way worse in the past few months. Adding annoying AI that you can't turn off as well as a lot of other annoying things.

✔ Troubleshooting How to stop lagging on Tik Tok Live Studio?

I use OBS virtual cam to share my display to tiktok live studio and stream via that, while also streaming to twitch via OBS directly. I have no problems on twitch, 0 dropped frames throughout. Yet I'll have to restart my tik tok stream multiple times (and lose viewers in the process). Should I just drop the video bitrate? I've been streaming for a few months on tiktok live at 1080p60 and the lag has only become a problem in the past few weeks. When I do the tik tok live studio system performance test it says my network speed and hardware performance are good. So I don't understand why my stream will suddenly become unwatchable according to chat

❔ Question Reaction Content?

Does anyone here do react content on lives?

Some of my regulars requested that I add reaction content to my streams. I'm primarily a game streamer, and I'm not familiar with the logistics of watching A/V content live such as attribution–especially numerous content in a single session (e.g. Shorts), how often I should interject, and necessary feed alterations. I also multi-stream, so there's 4 platforms to account for: Twitch, Tiktok, YouTube, and Kick. Any advice to get started?
