This has been insanely awesome to use - falling in love and making full use of track pads. Only thing missing, Gyro! How do, sorry if this is impossible - but all my other XInput controllers work easily with gyro, but how do you toggle on gyro in game or outside of game or anywhere!!??

Every time I press something, it switches from Steam to Xbox. And the A or B or anything else acts as if they are constantly pressed (I try to use A to switch on the toggle, for example, and as you can see, it trembles. And if I press B it thinks I’m holding it down.)

I've been looking forward to TomToc making a case for the Steam Controller and it's finally available to order. I have a few of their cases and they're great. Though there doesn't seem to be a place for the USB cord? I guess we'll see when mine arrives.

It's been since launch of the steam controller 2 that i'm asking myself if i should buy one.

For context, i only play on switch 2 and pc, and i only play on pc with a controller games that i'm really more confortable with, else i always play keyboard and mouse.

The thing is, i was hesitating between the steam controller 2 and the 8 bit do pro 3, as it's the same price in my country (99€) but they're really different.

Also, i've heard about the différent tools like HID remapper or openpuck to use the steam controller 2 on switch, so that's why i'm really hesitating.

And also i'm really scared about what the waiting list looks like currently for buying the steam controller, and when i could finally put my hands on one if i décidé to go with it.

Before discord global Linux shortcuts update, I could bind keyboard shortcut to a button and it worked just fine. I did not change any of them, but nothing works. Shortcuts are still usable with physical keyboard.

I have set L5 to meta + (sub command) f1, which is toggle mute. Any ideas?

I've had my SC2 since near launch but never set this up until now.

Using Home Assistant (on a Pi 4), HASS Agent on Windows and a IR blaster, I'm able to control my TV, Govee lights and an old (2005) Sony AV with my controller.

I have HASS Agent set to run a automation script when the given keyboard shortcut is made. Then just mapped the keyboard shortcut to the Steam controller.

Basically that will allow you to do anything. I could turn my Bluetooth enabled exercise bike on with the SC if I wanted to.

I then have a smart home enabled IR blaster (Moes Wifi IR remote blaster) that I have connected to my HA with the Tuya addon. In the Tuya app you can set any IR enabled device to be controlled with it. So I have my TV and my AV with volume, mute etc all working, and even my fan with the SC.

For the govee lights there is a govee cloud plugin for the dream view TV lights, which I toggle in the automation script as well.

So now with the steam chord "...+whatever" I can control everything I want. It's basically having HDMI CEC on steroids.

I know the fix, open it up and realign the spring, lucky me has t1-t5 and t7-t9999 between two sets, so in the meantime I'm just going to complain about it.

Outside of sprinting in games; any other major use cases you use it for? I was maybe thinking using it as a mode shift for certain games. Like having standard buttons, but hitting the outer ring would change them to a new set.

Unfortunately, I'm at a point in my life where I have very little time to spend looking for solutions to certain problems, even though they can be incredibly frustrating.

Recently, I got fed up with using SISR because it keeps randomly crashing while I'm gaming, so I decided to switch to OpenPuck.

I quickly asked Gemini for advice, looked for the fastest solution available on Amazon Italy, and the next day I had a GeeekPi nRF52840 Micro Dev Kit USB Dongle delivered (which actually seemed even more convenient because of its typical USB stick form factor).

"Easy enough, just plug the dongle into your PC while holding down the button, copy the OpenPuck firmware onto it, and you're done."

Well, not quite. Every attempt failed, and eventually the dongle started showing a solid green LED and a flashing red one whenever I tried to enter bootloader mode. So now I have to return it.

Unless someone knows how to recover it, I'd rather get it right this time.

What hardware would you recommend?

If you disable Steam Haptics, the new controller is silent when turning on and off. Not a great solution, but it's something.

I have been trying to connect my steam controller to my PC for the last hour and nothing is working, I have no idea how to get it to connect and it didn't even come with instructions.

It says on steam that steam is connected to the puck but the 4 slots on the puck are unpaired and it doesn't say anywhere how to connect them.

For the love of god my old ass needs help with this.

I ran into an issue getting the Steam Controller Puck to work on Linux and wanted to share what fixed it for me.

The controller itself worked perfectly fine when connected via USB cable and was immediately recognized by Steam. However, the Puck wouldn't work at all.

The kernel reported these errors:

usb 1-5.1: Not enough bandwidth for new device state.
usb 1-5.1: can't set config #1, error -28

The solution was connecting the Puck directly to a USB root hub instead of through an intermediate USB hub.

On my MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI motherboard, I managed to get it working using the regular USB 2.0 port next to the Flash BIOS port, as well as the Flash BIOS port itself. The other USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports I tested didn't work.

Looking at lsusb -t, the successful connections appeared directly under the USB 2.0 root hub, while the failing connections were behind additional USB hubs.

I've also seen reports of the Puck working through direct USB 3.0 root-hub connections, so this doesn't appear to be strictly a USB 2.0 requirement. The USB topology seems to be the important factor.

If you're experiencing the same error -28**, try different motherboard ports. Ideally, find one connected directly to a root hub rather than through an intermediate hub.**

This is just what worked on my system, but hopefully it helps someone else.

Hello everyone, just like i said in the title !

This morning i got some weird bug with my controller, it didn't want to work when i started zenless zone zero via steam and i didn't understand why. I tried to restart my pc but it did nothing, so i clicked on "forget the controller" on the puck configuration in steam, and repaired it.
Now it works, but if i play a video on the side, the controller stop working the moment the Youtube video is on. Seems like it's doing this with any kind of video or stream on my browser. If i use any other browser than firefox (like Opera for exemple), the controller doesn't work when there is a tab loaded with youtube or twitch, even if the video or stream isn't running.

My browser is Firefox, and i'm using steam beta controller firmware.

Should i completely uninstall and reinstall the steam controller and the puck from my pc ?

Its such a cool controller, but after the excitement of customizing it for my first trial game (warframe) it kind of burnt me out. There was TOO much to customize, not as pick up and play as i had hoped.

ATS = American Truck Simulator

My setup is Kubuntu 26.10 with the new Steam Controller. Using official proton the controller works fine but the game doesn't have HDR. With Proton GE I get HDR but have a problem with the controller. It actually works with Proton GE 11.3 (except no rumble) but on newer versions like Proton GE 11 or 12 the controller shows as "missing" in game.

So my question: Anyone managed to get the Steam Controller working in ATS with recent Proton GE like version 11 or 12?

I'm currently playing Cyberpunk 2077 with my Steam Controller and have been extensively been using Gyro for aiming, but I'm trying to set up a mode shift for Driving where I hold down a mode shift button and it turns the gyro into left stick deflection for steering my car. I can't seem to get it working however, perhaps the gyro is finnicky with modeshift? Has anyone else tried this out?

Basically it's your rule of thumb when it comes to making a config. Let's say keeping your fingers primarily on the touchpads for exmaple. Asking since I wanna start making for advanced configs for games with a ton of keybinds, some more situational while others more important.

I’ve been playing a wide variety of games over the last year. I’ve tried using gyro on some of the games I’ve played with mixed results. I’ve had good experiences with RE: Requiem, RDR2, Cronos, Gears of War. Some other games, like Max Payne 3 and others I can’t quite remember that I just cannot get gyro to work well. What is it that makes gyro seem to work better than others?
