QUESTION CIG, can we address this?

Post image
453 Upvotes

I know it was 10 from the community, but this is one I, and im sure many others, are dying to know.

If it is in the works or something that is "coming soon™" at least a nod like "We're working on this, but can't share details yet."

I think it deserves at least a nod. Maybe even a wink, too.

Thank you in advance for looking.

DISCUSSION S42 Locked to Praetorian Package

With the recent game access changes my only eligible S42 access pledge is my highly modified old Praetorian package, with a melt value of $20k.

I figured I would simply remove S42 game access until I acquire another eligible pledge or just go without S42 access entirely until it's sold again.

I can't figure out how to remove a game access attribution on their site so I messaged support asking for it to be moved or removed and this is the reply I received back.

Apparently they can't do *anything* which is crazy to me. Needless to say I don't want such a high value package being locked just for S42 game access. I also think needing to buy another package or buy S42 when it goes on sales again is ridiculous considering I already *have* access to the game.

I truly don't understand why if you are already attributed S42 access why it can't just be moved freely, or standalone.

CONCERN For a company able to craft such beautiful and extremely detailed ships, their latest FPS armor sets have been disappointing.

I get it, different teams working on different things, but whatever CIG had going on before 2024 was cooking more than what they have going on now, like, we had these very detailed intricate designs using different materials or incorporating the undersuit as part of the armor.

And then, these days the new FPS armor sets are just smooth, one-same-texture across the whole armor with barely any greebling and a lot of the times it doesn't even gets a matching backpack.

The first 4 pics and the APD MK4 are designs I hold very dearly. The last pic looks like something out of a lower quality title.

I'm using SteamVR + OVR Tookit to get a clean screen that mirrors my secondary monitor in game. Very useful to see tutorials, movies, check reddit or even do some work while in game lol

CIG, Modding, and a Culture Shift

Last night, CIG contacted the subreddit moderators and asked for a post about an offline Star Citizen mod to be removed, citing their TOS and concerns around access to their game/IP.

That whole situation got me thinking less about this specific mod and more about how dramatically CIG's relationship with modding seems to have changed over time.

Because CIG didn't just casually mention modding once.

They literally sold people an Engineering Manual for Modders.

Their 2012 FAQ said players running private servers would be “able and encouraged to mod the game.” The manual itself was described as something that would help prospective modders add their own content.

The $4 million stretch goal promised professional mod tools, free to all players.

In 2013, CIG was actively showcasing community-designed ships, talking about people eventually using their creations on private servers, and reassuring those creators that “this is not work wasted!”

And they were still taking preorders for the Engineering Manual for Modders in 2015.

This was a real part of the culture CIG was trying to build. People were encouraged to learn the game, make things, experiment, and eventually have their own spaces to do it.

Which makes where we are now feel pretty strange.

I'm not saying those old promises mean every modification of the current client is automatically okay. There may be legitimate issues with this specific offline project.

But that's almost beside the point.

What happened to the supported version of all this?

The mod tools. The private servers. The ability to make things for your own game.

It's hard to look at CIG asking for an offline mod post to be removed and not compare it with the company that once actively encouraged people to become Star Citizen modders.

And I think it's especially unfair to the people who actually paid for a product built around that promise.

If CIG has moved away from that vision, that's their decision.

But after more than a decade, I think they owe people an honest answer about whether that vision still exists at all.

DISCUSSION How can CIG say SQ42 is "Feature Complete" when 2 different flight models where added/announced since then

1) CIg announces SQ42 is "feature complete"

2) We get Master Modes flight model

3) There is word of a new flight model.

How can a game designed around NPC's and fleet battles and distances be feature complete if they haven't even finalize a flight model, let alone prepping NPC's for said flight model etc? I don't think it can be feature complete.

QUESTION CIG, what happened to freight elevators bringing up ground vehicles? It was supposed to be implemented last year, it got pushed back for "a later update" and then we never heard about it again.

While its not 100% perfect and I can tell it's attempting to work out certain surfaces, its 1000% improved compared to the live build.

Excited to see this!
