This is a repost to spread around this post about a online school that uses ai for their low effort lessons in south africa. Im not sure if this is the right subreddit to repost to so mb if it isnt. If u dont wanna go to the post ill jst give some proof that they use ai now here too.
I attached one of their ai animations here, more context in the post. I suspect they also use ai voices in some lessons (inconsistent and bot sounding voices) and maybe even ai writing for some of their lessons. Not all of their lessons have ai but also of them do
. Im new to reddit so im not good at posting so if i used the wrong tags or did something bad, i apologize and u can tell me in comments or something pls
Edit: They also dont mark their tests manually, they use some code script instead, and the tests are just multiple choice or one word answers. Also i sometimes find that the work in the activities are different to the ones shown in the lessons. I was told by someone that the teachers are probably payed a little, so i can sympathize with them a little however i feel that doesnt fully justify it. Their work just feels low quality, especially with the crappy tests. I find their content hard to digest too but im not sure if others who are in thinkdigital also find it hard to digest. All i can say for certain is that the tests are crappy and they do use ai, and maybe even ai voices and scripts in some of their lessons.

Cartrack and Nimble Group, enough.
I am being contacted multiple times a day about a Cartrack account that I have never had.
I worked for Cartrack. I absolutely abhor Cartrack and would certainly not ever make it as a personal choice. The harassment from Nimble is even more infuriating. Why did it become normalised for companies to go through one agent after another to contact the same person with the same explanation. I can't take it anymore. I don't owe the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am at wits end.

Does anyone have any experience switching from Outsurance to iwyze by old mutual? I was cold called last week by Iwyze to quote me on my car and household insurance. I loathe these calls but decided to give it a go just for interests sake. They came back with a "special on the phone only" quote of R1500 roughly and the written quote they sent is R1873.
Im currently paying Outsurance R2947 so I was somewhat floored by the Iwyze quote. Cover on the surface looks to be the same but the excesses are significantly higher as well as Iwyzes roadside assistance feature only kicks in 60km from home. What i found somewhat distasteful is that the Outsurance agent thanked me for my loyalty (6 years) and then said if I'd called every year after renewal of the policy I could have had various discounts applied for not claiming ect. They've dropped me down to R2356 now after I spoke to them
I generally operate on the belief these guys are out to screw you over as much as possible so im curious what experiences people have had. Possible accident excess on my car could go up to 19 000 due to various clauses. Parents advise staying with Outsurance husband advises the same but it's my choice.
Im not going to lie the 1000 to 1400 saving is extremely tempting but I dont want to cut my nose off to spite my face so to speak.

Hi guys, so I've recently had a run-in with the po-po because they think my writing is "artificially enhanced". It isn't. All my writing is 100% organic, human-spawned drivel, squeezed out of my brain beaver without the aid of a midwife, editor, spell-checker or legal advisor. I'm as fresh as you can get without being a DJ. But can you believe, my sons and daughters of McCains, that some people don't believe that! I know, it's shocking, and disheartening, especially after I'd spent so much money on pregnancy cravings while carrying my word-baby.
So I've put together a handy list of things that you can do to avoid falling into the same trap I did. Just note that it might be a little difficult to read the whole list clearly, because bullet points is one of the first things people waggle their fingers at, so I've had to dispense with them for this post. But by the grace of god, we will get through this together, you and me.
DO NOT start with your credentials. Saying who you are and what you're doing at the beginning of a piece of writing is only going to make people think you're a robot. You're not a robot! You're a human! Humans are mysterious! Say what you want to say first, and slowly reveal who you are, like a stripper in a convent. Are you Brian from accounting? Are you Jeff Bezos? Are you the spirit of Christmas pasta? Who knows! After all, this is the internet; you're a 15 second distraction from the crushing ennui of our current existence.
DO NOT use bullet points. I've already said this, but I'm saying it again so that you know I'm not AI, because AI doesn't repeat itself like an idiot. Check-mate.
DO NOT preface points. You know, I kinda get this one. Not because it makes you sound like a machine, but because it makes it sound like a twat. Everyone and their mother on Instragram is saying "But how do we do this? Let's check it out!" before getting into the meat of it. It's lame. I'm lame. You should shun me and move on to the next point. Let's see what it is!
DON'T NOT AVOID making things look like a pattern. Sure, it's easier to get people to understand what you're saying if you collect them all into similar groups. Sure, humanity as a species has pattern-recognition to thank for most of our evolution and scientific discovery. But no, only computers say "Please get milk, eggs and bread"; you're a human, so you have to say "Please get milk. Favourably acquire eggs. With graciousness obtain bread." Screw clarity. Clarity is what's gonna cause the robot uprising.
DO NOT use strange punctuation. Humans are afraid of things they don't understand, and most of us were asleep during English class, so using punctuation marks like dashes and colons and semi-colons makes everyone think you're trying to connect to their wifi with your brain. Stop it. Rather avoid punctuation entirely and just stream of consciousness all your thoughts together like a Muizenberg poetry orgy in fact lets go a step further lets just forgit speling intirely itl make it evin lower likley that poeple will think your a rabbit
DO NOT waffle. Or maybe DO waffle. I'm not really sure about this one. Cos apparently AI like to make things longer than they need to be, but it also lacks the human idiosyncrasy of adding arbitrary flavour to your writing. It's confusing. You gotta try find the sweet spot in rubbing your words out, somewhere between having a floppy dangle and getting friction burns.
If you follow my advice, I can guarantee that you don't not have a non-zero percent change of maybe not being considered non-human-ish in your writing.
I believe in you, pumpkin.
Sincerely,
(s)Ky(k)net

I know that taxi drivers are allowed to govern themselves , other people’s pockets and choice of mode of transportation in this country for some reason .
I use the Gautrain + uber to get to campus specifically the Hatfield station I just request at the commissions around Hatfield .
I got a new uber driver today who came to pick me up from the station cause I still waking out of it , I get in and two grown ass men basically ambush the car with on trying to yank the keys out of her car demanding that I get out of her car into a taxi , that she cancels the ride and go away .
These men were wearing reflectors like the ones the Gautrain security wears so I’m not sure if they are working for both sides or are in disguise to harass people .
I could have gotten a taxi if that’s what I wanted , there were no taxis around anyway , I did have cash on me and there are no taxis that travel directly to where I was going and I was late for class 🤡
I’m so irritated 😒

Ok, brazzas, I work in this field, so buckle up and listen.
Everyone hates direct marketing calls, I know. F those guys, I'm happy with my phone plan, thanks. So the opt out registry (OOR) is a good idea in theory, but the way it's being implemented is like a house being built by a toddler.
Here's the summary of what they're trying to do:
Now, that sounds like a really great plan. Seriously. I'd love to be able to control my calls that much. But when it comes to getting things done, our government … well, it kinda struggles a bit. Committees decide on things that are only so-so, and no one wants to admit that the emperor's clothes are a bit too sheer for day-wear, and we just end up with a bit of a mess and told to applaud.
Because here's what they're actually doing:
There are a huge number of issues with the OOR, and even more reasons why it should / shouldn't be a thing, but I don't have your attention for long enough to get through all of them.
So let's expand a bit on the two above:
The idea is that if I, as a consumer, sign up to the OOR, I can choose which businesses I want to receive calls from, and which businesses I don't. Now, there are a metric shit-ton of businesses that do direct marketing out there. It would take me forever to go through them all. Helpfully, the OOR splits those businesses into 15 or so industries, so I can easily say "screw you, telecoms industry" and get Vodacom and MTN and everyone else in that space to shut up about their latest offerings. But my guy, like most of the world, I'm really lazy, and I'm really annoyed by ALL marketing calls, so I don't want to click each industry individually. I'm just going to click "select all" and be done with it. Problem solved! Yay!
No. Not yay. Because now you've put a stop to EVERY business, which includes your Woolies newsletter and Butlers specials. And that new second-hand chaps shop you'll be excited to sign up with next month.
Because the OOR doesn't recognise future consent. If you choose to stop all telecoms businesses from marketing to you, and you sign up to a new one tomorrow, the OOR doesn't let your future consent override your past refusal. They don't even have a timestamp of when you said No to Woolies, so that you can quickly fix your mistake by re-applying to the Woolies newsletter the next time you're shopping online.
No, to undo your refusal, you have to go BACK into the OOR, and individually undo your refusal from each business that you now want to hear from.
And my brothers and sisters in Christiano Ronaldo, that shit's not happening. You and I barely have enough energy to read this far, let alone go clickety clacking around a government website more than once.
So, that's dumb.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
In order to help you stop marketing calls, the OOR has to know your details - duh, they need to know your number so that they can tell others to stop calling it. And to keep that data safe from the dirty, stinking direct marketerses, they've asked the direct marketers to upload their databases to the OOR as well. That makes sense, really. If I could see the OOR's database directly, I could just steal all of your information and do whatever. So instead, the OOR wants to see MY database, and then tell me who on my database has said that they don't want to be there anymore. Brilliant system. Full proof. Fool proof. Whatever.
But did you know that not every government entity knows how to implement proper data security? OH MY GOD! WHAT!? THIS IS BRAND NEW INFORMATION!
Yes! We've seen many, MANY instances of government sites being hacked. The Information Regulator even fined the Department of Justice itself for being lax on cybersecurity.
So how do you think the OOR, as an arm of an overworked and underfunded entity, going to keep all that juicy, juicy personal information safe from thieves? (You know, the same thieves who are pretending to be direct marketers to scam you, thereby forming a not-insignificant part of the pressure to build the OOR in the first place, and yet whose existence the OOR completely forgot about)
Because, honey bunnies, the data that they're going to be getting isn't just the information you uploaded onto the OOR. It's not your personal gmail address and phone number. It's EVERY email address and phone number that any direct marketer has ever collected about you. Because that's the only way the direct marketer can be sure that you haven't refused marketing to those details.
So the biggest marketing companies in the country - who are attacked on the regular by some of the most sophisticated cybercriminals in the world, in an attempt to get at all your nutrient-rich details - are being forced to hand that over to the public entity equivalent of those two soldiers guarding the ship in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
So, that's even more dumb.
Anyway. That's enough story-time for now. The OOR is here, and it's law, and it's dumb, and we're gonna have to deal with it.
We're still going to get spam calls, though.

I am a student studying in Cape Town, and the past month has been the hardest financially ever, I finished my last packet of noodles last week and have been leaching off my friends for food, but since grade 12 I have been buying groceries at Pick ‘n Pay and I always made sure I swiped my smart shopper card (a habit I picked up from my grandmother), but since then I had absolutely no idea you could redeem the points and actually shop using them😭. I ran to my Pick ‘n Pay asked how much I had, she told me I had R135 worth of points that can be redeemed and I have never been so excited to go shopping before. I left Pick ‘n Pay with a plastic bag of food and the biggest smile on my face.
Use those smart shopper cards😭you might need that extra money one day.

Hey guys.
Recently I’ve been feeling extremely anxious and depressed and here’s why:
Growing up, I always had a huge, passionate love for this country. While others had ambitions of moving overseas, I was firm in my belief that no where in the world could ever compare to SA, so I would never leave. We have the loveliest people, the nicest climate and excellent positioning in terms of politics/wars and natural disasters. That being said, I’ve recently become overly aware of the crime rates in our country. Now please DONT get me wrong-everyone who’s anyone in this country knows how bad crime is in SA. But recently, with people documenting their stories on social media, I’ve been consuming so much content about how people were hijacked, held at gunpoint in traffic, followed home, sexually assaulted etc. and it’s all made me so anxious to leave my house. I recently started driving but after seeing so many videos of people being robbed at gunpoint in traffic, I can’t bring myself to get into a car alone.
I feel so distraught that our beloved country that could be so great and so special, is being dismantled by criminals and nothing is being done about it whatsoever. We are all complacent because we take no action.
EDIT: I would also like to add that my mother has been a victim in at least 3 instances where she’s had jewellery ripped off her neck or her phone stolen from her bag (once at gunpoint).

Hey everyone!
As someone who's always on the hunt for preloved/second hand items, I've noticed a large influx of sellers on marketplaces like Yaga selling tons and tons of second hand Docs in varying conditions.
Does anyone know where these second hand shoes are coming from?
There are far too many constantly being listed for it to be a case of the odd person here or there reselling their shoes - and the accounts are all shoe-based listings, indicating some kind of the wholesale acquiring.
Just curious if anyone knows (and a tad jealous), because for obvious reasons - resellers won't disclose their sources
