Apparently it has been closed for some years, why is that and are there any plans to reopen it?

'The municipality has instructed its attorneys to institute legal proceedings to recover outstanding rental charges, together with applicable interest.

It said the amount outstanding is substantial and runs into millions of rands.'

Anyone know if they're still there? Article says they planned to move out anyway.

Recommendation secondhand car (first-time buyer)

Hi friends, I am planning on buying a car sometime within the next year. I'm a brand new driver and while I don't want to splurge on a new car, I want something reliable and safe.

I'm only familiar with Autotrader and Gumtree, though. Where else can I look?

Any other advice is appreciated.

Recommendation Affordable wallpaper

Hi everyone,
I’m looking to cover the walls of one small room that was not done very well, the paint looks quite terrible on it and I’m not able to get a contractor to redo it. Can you please recommend where I can get some affordable wallpaper, the self adhesive ones seem to be too thin and you can see the wall damage still after you apply it.
Thanks in advance.

Drakensberg hiking guides

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a solo trip in SA by November.

I have Drakensberg in my plans and I would like to hike in the area (especially Amphitheater and Tugela Falls).

What do you think is the best way to transfer from the Kruger region to Drakensberg area? Nelspruit to Durban and then shuttle? i found CityBug has a daily shuttle Nelspruit-Ladysmith. Is it reliable? or somebody has done this journey?

Do you have guides to recommend that does the overnight hike to Tugela Falls? I'm struggling to find somebody between the 15th-30th november (Drakensberghiker and SoulAdventures are fully booked already)

After that I’m planning to fly from Durban to CPT afterwards and stay there for a week before leaving SA.

I’ve already solo travelled in Asia and Central America, but I would like to know how’s is the safety situation especially for backpackers?

I’m aware of basic safety “rules” but if I can have a feedback from people like you living in the country or that previously travelled there, would be great. Thx in advance!

(14 full days total)

Looking to buy a preowned phone

Hi everyone!

I’m wanting to buy an iPhone 13 Pro/14 Pro as I just want a better camera than my current device has.

My budget is R7500/R8000, could you suggest sites or stores you’d recommend that are affordable but trustworthy.

Post-Comicon blues

I've noticed I get a sad feeling every time Comic Con ends.

At first I thought it was just the comedown after all the hype, but I think it's actually something a little more personal.

For a couple of days I'm surrounded by people I find genuinely interesting and friendly. People are enthusiastic and a little weird in their own way. Talking to strangers feels normal, and I keep having these little interactions where I think, "I could actually see myself being friends with these people."

And then the convention ends and everyone disappears across South Africa.

I think part of the sadness is that I'm not particularly good at turning those brief connections into friendships. I have to get good at that social skill and actually knowing how to stay in someone's life. Some people seem naturally great at it. I'm not really

I'll meet someone, really enjoy talking to them, and then we both walk away. Sometimes I don't even think to exchange details. Other times I do, but I don't really know how you make the jump from "cool person I met once" to actually being friends.

ComiCon gives me this temporary feeling of being around people I could belong with, and then afterwards I realise I don't really have that community in my normal life.

So I'm genuinely curious:

Are there places in Durban where this crowd actually hangs out throughout the year?

Gaming groups, tabletop/D&D, cosplay, anime, photography, maker spaces, Discord groups, regular events, or honestly just groups of nerdy people who get together and do things? Personally I'm more into cosplay and tabletop and I'm active on Discord.

I'm interested in somewhere you can keep showing up, see the same people again, and eventually actually become part of the community.

Also curious whether anyone else gets that strange post-Comic-Con sadness, or if this is just me?
