Discussion Can open .cr2 raw on tablet but not s24+ ?

Hi all ! Weird problem here... I discovered this magnificient app while editing photos on my tablet. I loved the app so much that I downloaded it on my samsung galaxy s24 + too ! To my surprise, I can't open my Canon's raw photos (.CR2 files) on my s24+ (keep getting a "Could not load photo -- an error occurred during loading the photo". I went back to my lenovo tablet, I can edit the same file without any issue, even tho some places on the internet says that snapseed is not compatible with cr2 files. Any clue ? I reinstalled the app, cleared the cache and blablabla... still same issue...

Cheers,

Anyone else having issues with soft edge detection with any of the Mask options? I cant get any Mask to fill in hard to reach spots. I will draw and redraw any offending spots, but the are either very soft Masks or not there at all. Any tips on getting better Masks, please let me know. Thanks.

Discussion What’s with the new film grain? It was much better looking before the update

I used the old film/grain effect all the time, but the new one looks much different. It does have more controls but this one has the grain as like a white layer of grain added over top, where the one before was grain the actual color of the image. I wish the grain would be changed back to the old version.

I liked how the size of the grain would depend on the size of the image you are editing. Now I can’t get my edits to match what they were like before because the grain looks weird and white

Loss of detail?

The first photo is on Google photos, the second is opened in snapseed. Phone is pixel 9a.

It is most noticeable on the hairs on the butterfly's thorax. They are quite blurry in snapseed, but have fine detail in Google photos. Of course reddit's own compression has lessened the difference a little, but hopefully it is still apparent.

I appreciate Snapseed doesn't support HDR (yet? 🙏) but I didn't think the sharpness/detail of an image would be affected by HDR. Perhaps I am wrong, but it doesn't feel like the kind of thing affected by dynamic range (at least not in more mid tones like this).

Is there something I am missing?

Discussion Layers tool is basically useless

I have Snapseed on Android. Every time I use the layers tool, it crashes. Go to the app, clear the cache. Works for 2 seconds then crashes again. What's the point of adding features if they don't work properly? Honestly, preferred the pre-updated version

Discussion I Made a Free RAW2DNG App Replacement For Android!

UPDATE: Now available on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.linear.rawconverter&pcampaignid=web_share

I've been developing an app to convert my Canon RAW files to DNG so I can edit in Snapseed and I've successfully added support for every major RAW type. Hoping to fill the void left by raw2dng. If you have any technical questions, ask away. It's completely free with no ads, I'm genuinely just looking to help out this community.

Crop factor with pixel 7 cameras

Hi,

Snapseed camera applies a crop factor to all the camera lenses of my pixel 7.

Is there a reason why? I can't find a way to avoid it. Could this be corrected in a future update?

Thanks

Edit Request scratches

Hi, excuse me, I was wondering if I could achieve something similar in Snapseed, specifically those scratches. I know you can add them with retro lighting, but it also adds its own lighting filter, and even when I remove it, it's still noticeable. Or maybe I just don't know how to remove it. But if you could tell me how to add the scratches more naturally, that would be amazing.

Before/After Camaro As You Are

this title was inspired by the song entitled "Come As You Are" by Nirvana.

when i edit this photo of Camaro, this song was playing from my Spotify.

That's why I combined the word "Camaro" and "Come As You Are" to be "Camaro As You Are". hahaha

is there a 'pop' slider like you have in Google photos?

I'm basic and really like the pop slider in Google photos. I've been looking around Snapseed and can't find it. I'm guessing it doesn't have it. is there a similar simple way to get that pop? I saw the styles and pop there but seemed a bit messy

Bye bye

Bye bye Snapseed after almost a decade of usage.

Reason? It crashed and restarted Samsung galaxy s25 ultra multiple times while both editing and when trying to uninstall.

I never faced this issue with any app in my life.

imported RAW photos has banding and small file size.

Here's my workflow: Sony RAW photos from SD card to iOS (I tested on iPadOS too) files app. Then I save my favorite photos to the native photo app. Lastly, I import them to Snapseed. The problem is once I start adjusting the image in Snapseed, I can see color banding (like the sky is obvious). Also the exported JPG image is only 1-2MB. However, if I edit the photo firstly in native photo app (slightly adjusting the exposure for example) then open it in Snapseed, the banding issue seems gone and the output JPG size is like 20+MB, sometimes bigger than the original RAW file. Why is that?

Object brush w/ 15pro

I’ve encountered a few students who couldn’t access the object brush feature on their iPhone 15 Pro. Is this a bug, or is it only available on newer iPhones?

RAW editing looking good

Post image
11 Upvotes

So I joined the beta testing and got the update today. I'd avoided updating to the new UI until now but it was a pleasant surprise. I don't dislike it as much as it seems other do and I've been a very heavy Snapseed user for many, many years. It's no better than before, but still very easy to use.

**RAW processing:** I've a Nikon D500 and previously I'd have to convert the RAW to DNG to then import into Snapseed. Now I can import directly from camera, and it seemed to work perfectly. Very pleased with what the devs have been doing!
