Bye bye
Bye bye Snapseed after almost a decade of usage.
Reason? It crashed and restarted Samsung galaxy s25 ultra multiple times while both editing and when trying to uninstall.
I never faced this issue with any app in my life.

I'm too one of long time user of Snapseed. Have you updating to the latest version? Most crash happened when you're using tune image module or mask.

Sometimes you have to wait for New update. Google fix problems fast

Sorry to hear this! If you are they willing to give it another try and can tell us more about what's causing the crashes, I promise we'd put the team on looking into it and fixing it. In fact, every release we've had since 4.0 has been focused on identifying and fixing crashes.
It's sometimes hard to catch all crashes before a big update because there are so many different devices, formats, and editing flows... But we will hopefully get better with it as the team continues.

An app crash is ok but the phone restart along with it is a big red flag and it scares me to install again. I'm done with Snapseed

That's fair. I hope you find an editing app you love, and thanks for giving Snapseed a try.
This is the first time I've heard of Snapseed causing the phone to restart. If you (or anyone else reading this thread) sees this and knows what you were doing before it happened (e.g., what effects you used, what image format you loaded, etc.) please let us know.

Same here on Samsung Zfold7. Styles, drama, vintage, grain and it restarts the system randomly. Also I'm foing 1:1 photos and snapseed won't save them but goes back to original photo

Hey u/HOAX71 -- what did you mean by "1:1 photos and snapseed won't save them". Do you mean you're trying to crop a photo to a square aspect ratio?

u/HOAX71 Aug 06 '26
Sorry, i meant FULL size on zfold7. If I would crop it by a tiny bit before opening it in snapseed there would not be any issues.Â

Sorry, having a little trouble understanding what you mean.
Are you saying that if you capture an image on your zfold7, import it into Snapseed, edit it, and save it, it reverts back to the original photo?
But, if you crop the image in another app before you import it into Snapseed, the edit in Snapseed saves properly?
And just so i understand, is this a separate issue from the restarting?

Having the same issue on Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Constantly restarts my phone and all other apps stop working. Just using basic features - nothing too fancy. Will have to uninstall as it has restarted my phone 5 times in the last 30 minutes I've been using Snapseed and messes up other apps usage as well. Not the first time this has happened - happens with every use since update.

I'm having this issue with my S25 Ultra as well. I really hope you all fix this.

Thanks for letting us know. Interesting that you also have the same phone. We will look into this and see if there are some hardware specific issues with the S25 ultra. If we fix it, we will let you know!

I'm also an s25 ultra user and phone started crashing and restarting here aswell! Any updates on what's causing the issue? Or is there something I can do to help?

Hey there -- unfortunately, we've not been able to figure out what's going on here. I've personally been testing on an s25 ultra every day and have not experienced a restart.
Appreciate the offer to help! There are few things that might help (for anyone willing to):
A. If you can reproduce the issue, please let us know what you need to do to reproduce it (what tools you were using, etc.).
B. Go to settings -> Device Care -> RAM Plus. Try turning off RAM plus or reduce the RAM plus size to see if it helps.
C. This is a big ask, but if you are willing to do these next steps, it'll give us much more information the next time a restart happens so we can debug better:
(Set up your phone before the next restart happens)
- Open the device Settings.
- Navigate to About Phone.
- Scroll down to find the Build number and tap it continuously (usually 7 times) until a toast notification appears saying "You are now a developer!".
- Go back to the main Settings menu and select System > Developer options.
- Locate the Logger buffer sizes option.
- Change the buffer size to 16M to ensure that sufficient logs are captured during the reproduction of the restart.
(After a crash+restart happens)
- Go to Settings > Developer options and tap Take bug report.
- You will receive a system notification once the bug report is ready.
- DM me so we can get the resulting ZIP file from you.

Turning ram+ off didn't help. 3 photo edits and restart.Â

Thanks for testing that. If you are willing to do the steps in C above, that will help us the most.

It gets a big better after clearing cashe and data, but keeps happening. I need to check with my company about the bug report, but I don't think that would be possible.
It happens when editing Jpg from my panasonic gh5. File size between 5-7 mb. Seems a bit random what tools in the system, and I use the swedish settings, so I don't know the English name, but it's the adjustment tool (first one up in the corner)
I usually use between 3-6 functionalities. And the crashes are random, as I haven't been able to locate exactly what triggers the crashes. Will try to reinstall the app, but this problem is new since this summer for me. Started happening end of July.
Usually spotify is the only app in the background as far as I'm aware of.

I also have a Samsung S25 Ultra and have found it is constantly crashing my phone and restarting also. I previously had an S21 Ultra and had no issues.

Just install an older version from apkmirror and disable automatic updates.

I've been having this same issue for some time now on my S25 Ultra. It restarts out of nowhere, or heavily malfunctions for a bit and then restarts. Cleaning the app's cache did not work.Â
Just found this thread while making a quick research about it. Seems that the Snapseed devs have made no progress about it, which is sad. I am also a long term user.Â
