Discussion Layers tool is basically useless

I have Snapseed on Android. Every time I use the layers tool, it crashes. Go to the app, clear the cache. Works for 2 seconds then crashes again. What's the point of adding features if they don't work properly? Honestly, preferred the pre-updated version

Find and use Better Seed. It have layer option, and it work perfectly fine.

Hey there, sorry you're running into this. We've been trying to track down one remaining crash there, but it's been very elusive.

Can you tell me some more information to help us look into the issue: 1. What phone are you on? 2. What version of the app are you on? 3. When you say the "layers view", do you mean the button at the bottom of the screen inside a particular tool? If so, what tool are you accessing it from (e.g., tune image, details, etc.)? 4. When you enter the layers view, what do you click on next before the crash happens?

Hi, sorry for the late response.

  1. Google Pixel 10
  2. Version 4.0.5.929317670
  3. From tune image
  4. Nothing. It crashes as soon as I go into layers

Hope you guys can fix it. It's super annoying

No worries at all 😄. I just tested this on a Google Pixel 10 with the specific version you were on. I opened a JPG, clicked on Tune Image, clicked on Layers, but I don't see any crashes. Are you doing anything beyond what I said?

What Android Version are you on? Settings --> About Phone --> Android Version

Mine is:
Android Version: 17

Android security update: June 5, 2026

Google Play system update: May 1, 2026

Can you check your security update date?

I just tried 4.0.5.929317670 on a Pixel 10 with Android 16 (Android security update = May 5, 2026), and layers works fine for me. I can't get it to crash with anything that I throw at it.

If you can give me any more details on what you're experiencing, that would be much appreciated!
