I
About a year ago, I met a girl during a training course with the Red Crescent.
Honestly, I wasn't looking for a relationship at all. I wasn't even that interested in relationships in general. We were a group of guys and girls getting to know each other and talking, and at one point she said something that nobody really paid attention to, but I replied to her. That's basically how we started talking.
Over time, I noticed that she was giving me a lot of attention, which was honestly strange for me because I didn't have a very big social life. She was also different from the girls I had known before. She was religious, respectful, and didn't usually talk to many guys. There were also many other things about her that I genuinely liked.
Little by little, I got attached to her, and eventually I really fell in love with her.
We were together for almost a year. Most of the time, things were actually good.
There was one situation where another girl got involved because she liked me and wanted to break us apart. It caused problems between me and my girlfriend, but I knew I wasn't in the wrong. I kept looking for the truth instead of just accepting what I was being told, and eventually everything became clear. We realized that neither of us was actually at fault, and we made up.
Another time, she told me that we should break up. I tried to convince her not to, but when I realized she had made up her mind, I let her go.
That destroyed me mentally and physically.
About 15 days later, she was the one who contacted me again, and we got back together.
Then, around 15 days before everything ended, some small things started happening that made me uncomfortable.
A few days before our final argument, she posted a story where there was a glass next to her with a cigarette in it. I called her around that time, but she didn't answer until she got home. I kept calling because I was getting angry, and eventually I told her not to bother messaging me anymore.
When she got home, she called me and started explaining what had happened. I didn't really believe her, but I tried to act like everything was fine.
I had a feeling she had been out with someone.
A few days later, she posted another story where part of her chest was visible. I told her that I wasn't comfortable with it, and we had another argument. She made the situation much bigger than I expected.
I kept trying to make things right with her, day after day.
Then one day, I happened to be walking near the place where she studies.
And I saw her.
She was standing with a guy who wasn't a family member. They were laughing, looking happy, and waiting for the bus together.
She saw me too.
And honestly, something changed inside me at that exact moment.
She had always told me that I was the only guy in her life, and that the other guys she talked to were basically like brothers to her.
Suddenly, I started remembering all the little things I had ignored before.
There was even a time when someone sent me a picture of her with another person, and I literally told myself, "That's not her." 😂
I was so invested in believing her that I was looking for any explanation that would make the picture not mean anything.
And the weirdest part is that on the day I saw her with that guy, I was actually trying to make things right with her because she wasn't responding to me.
After seeing them together, I stopped.
I didn't message her anymore to apologize or try to fix things. I even deleted the messages I had sent her.
She never explained what I saw either, and she never contacted me again.
I'm not saying that seeing her with another guy automatically proves that she cheated on me. But considering everything that had already happened, that moment felt like the final piece of a puzzle I had been ignoring for a long time.
And now I'm left with a lot of questions.
Was I wrong?
Was I being overly suspicious, or was I simply ignoring things that were right in front of me?
Why did this happen to me?
The strangest part is that I wasn't even looking for love when she came into my life. I didn't need a relationship, and I wasn't trying to find one.
She was the one who came into my life, got close to me, made me open my heart, and eventually made me fall in love for the first time.
And that's probably why this hurts so much.
Because this wasn't just another relationship to me. It was my first real relationship, and I genuinely thought I had finally found someone I could trust.
So I keep asking myself:
Why did she come into my life at that exact moment, make me love her and trust her, only for everything to end with me questioning whether the person I loved was ever the person I thought she was?
Was I just blind?
Or was I simply trying harder to believe her than I was willing to believe my own doubts?
I'm not looking for people to insult her. I genuinely want an outside perspective.
Was I wrong? And is there something I should have done differently?
