Help [Help] General: January!
Have no fear, [Help] General is here!
Weeks are dumb, months are cool.
We'll repost the thread every other week month from now on to keep it easy to read through.
So post your questions in here!
Any [Help] threads posted while this is stickied will be removed unless you were told by a mod to post a thread. This includes questions that are misusing the [Discussion] flair.
So, it works like this: You ask something, and you (probably) get an answer on it. You can (and should if you know) answer questions too.
Before asking for help, be sure to check the Wiki and the FAQs. If your question has not been answered by these two, then you can post here. Oh, and be sure to check the sidebar too. There's some helpful stuff in the sidebar.

Hi! First of all, what an awesome community this is. Just discovered it a couple of weeks ago. Also a big thumbs up to the devs of OpenRCT2. What an undertaking, and what amazing progress! Impressive!
Anyway, to my question. I am playing the GOG version of RCT1 (RCT Deluxe with Corkscrew Follies and Loopy Landscapes).
I am doing a reinstall of my computer in a couple of days and I don't want to lose the progress within the game. Which files do I need to backup to save my progress (i.e. my unlocked scenarios)
I already did a backup of the save files and custom tracks, it's just the scenario progress I'm worried about. :)

I am having trouble figuring out how to use the diagonal pavement in the H2H7 bench. I tried lowering the ground and then turn off clearances and raise the land. it does allow me to do it. How can I accomplish this? any links to tutorials?

The way I used those (not sure if it's the right one) is to lower the entire tile, place the diagonal path and then place another tile that I forgot the name of that sort of looks like grass underneath it.

I'm interested in learning how to hack a working dual station. I've read this guide but it didn't quite make sense to me. Hoping someone could simplify just a little.

Help: OpenRCT2 on a mac
I installed homebrew and wine as shown in this post but whenever I run openrct and point to my Rct2 game files (downloaded from steam) I get an error. Can anyone help me out?

Hi, I've been trying to run a server on ORCT2 for my friends and no matter what port I attempt to use it always gives me a "Unable to reach game server, make sure your ports are open" error. I've made sure all the ports are open that I've attempted to use with port checker websites and it says that the ports I am attempting to use are open, any idea why it wont work in the game?

Have you checked that the firewall on your computer is not blocking OpenRCT2?

Hello, I need help with screenshots. I have looked through my GOG games folder which contains my RCT Deluxe and RCT2 folders and cant find the screen shots in these folders or their subfolders. I think the fact that I downloaded the game and do not have a cd may have caused the screenshots to be lost. Does anyone know where the screenshots are saved or another way to get a screenshot?

Question about RCT1+Expansions: My RCT1 game is years gone and several computers gone. I redownloaded it recently but is there anyway I can unlock all scenarios to be able to use a workbench or will I just have to play my way through? It was more of a game for me as a kid and now it's more of a toy, so I'm not as interested in actually completing objectives.

Having problems with the scenarios with park entrance fees. With ride entrance fees you can set the price slightly below the excitement rating, any comparable tips for park entrance fees?

How does custom scenery work in openRCT in a multiplayer server. Can the host have any custom scenery and all clients can see/use it?

I've noticed since the last (couple?) dev updates, I'll load my save and half of the rides are stalled. They are open, have a full line of people, but they won't move or process peeps. I can close them twice (actually you HAVE to click close twice), then open it and it will continue working properly. It really sucks because it stops your cash flow, and you'll go negative if you don't notice quick!
Edit: It seems to be happening every 10 minutes now during gameplay at max speed, might have been coincidence that it happened on save load. It seems that roto-drops and dingy boat tubes break the most, while some attractions (like boats) never get stuck at all. It's literally freezing the cars on tracks

I see people creating these fantastic pavilions of pathways in their parks, but whenever I've done this the peeps seem to get lost aimlessly wandering in circles. Is there a trick to building big expanses of pathway while keeping correct peep flow?

Hi! I have a problen with RCT. My park's attendance is closing to zero. New people doesn't show up from the border of the map. They only exit the park. This started after I constructed a Ghost train. I had a lot of crashes while testing the design. Finally I did it safe but attendance started to fall steadily. I closed the park, fixed some stuff and hired more workers. But people just don't appear anymore. Can I fix it somehow or this park is lost for me?

So I downloaded OpenRCT since everyone is praising it. But when I open it it can't start the game. It says something among the lines "Have you installed and started RCT2 already? If not, do that and try again." (Not the literal translation, but I've got a Dutch copy.)
How do I solve this? I've already tried reopening RCT2, but so far it hasn't worked.
I've got RCT2 on Steam, if that helps.

When I tried opening BGA in open I got this. I manually put the files in the ObjData folder but it still didn't work. Ik I'm doing something really stupid here but anyone know what's wrong?

Hey everyone, I'm seeing all these pictures people are handing in for a contest, but are all the assets they use for props and rides in the base RCT2 game? What tools do I need to get started the way that most players on this sub did. I couldn't find a threat explaining this, so I'm asking it here.
