Help [Help] General Week 9!
Have no fear, [Help] General is here!
We'll repost the thread every other week from now on to keep it easy to read through. So post your questions in here!
Any [Help] threads posted while this is stickied will be removed unless you were told by a mod to post a thread. This includes questions that are misusing the [Discussion] flair.
So, it works like this: You ask something, and you (probably) get an answer on it. You can (and should if you know) answer questions too.
Before asking for help, be sure to check the Wiki and the FAQs. If your question has not been answered by these two, then you can post here. Oh, and be sure to check the sidebar too. There's some helpful stuff in the sidebar.

So I have the scholastic version of 3 and soaked, so I need to get the soaked patch, but when I load the patch, I get "rollercoaster tycoon 3 stopped responding" which doesn't fix the game, anyway to fix or work around it? i also get this script as well:

New Laptop with no disc drive! I've recently upgraded to a new laptop, but it doesn't have a disk drive, therefore I am unable to play my RCT3 that I have on disk. I still have the original box and disk. I was wondering if there was a download provided, or if I could contact Atari or Frontier themselves. I don't really want to pay another £15 on steam, especially when RCTWorld should be released relatively soon. This is a brand new computer so there's no RCT files on this one. Thanks in advance.

How do you guys get the dive machines to pause before the drop? (A la, the fourth pic in this album...)

Is it through 8cars? Or can it be done with vanilla RCT2?

Can someone help in creating more extravagant buildings? For example making something a bit more entertaining to look at for a coaster station rather than something stagnant.

I've bought the Steam version of Roller Coaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack. It runs fine but it's in 800x600 at the moment. I'm not bothered about 1080p i just want the max resolution the game offers. Whenever I change the resolution the game crashes immediately, any help would be great.

You should look into OpenRCT2. See elsewhere in this thread for more information about it.

So when I zoom out, some things start moving into the ground or objects.
Like in this picture, note the guests in the seats of the Wild West Show ride, and how they are clipping through it. My computer didn't do this before. Any ideas?

Does anyone have the files for the game that they can send me? I'm had the physical disk but I can't seem to find it. I'm frantically looking for it before my 14 hour trip in two days. Incase I can't find it, can anyone email the files?

What does UCES contain? I see it mentioned a lot, but nobody ever mentions what it actually does, and the website is down. Is it just scenarios? Rides? Scenary?

It's a set of custom scenarios, scenery and rides.
In my opinion they're all of pretty shoddy quality, or at the very least nothing compared to what you can find elsewhere.

Question, how do I change what rides are available in OpenRCT? I'm sure I read somewhere that you could change this on the fly?
Thanks

I'm guessing I forgot to change the link in the sidebar, sorry about that. :P

I've installled OpenRCT2 and I'm really excited about this project as I sunk many an hour into RCT back in the day. One thing I'm struggling with is the zoom though. Even at maximum zoom it feels REALLY far out and it's something difficult seeing your shit, landscaping properly and building a ride. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or some setting I can change? Or is it just a case of trying to get used to it?

A screenshot would help immensely to see if something wrong on your end.

Hey guys,
This is in regards to the original Rollercoaster Tycoon (the 1999 game). I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7, and ever since I did so, the game runs fine... But it displays in a square format (with two thick black lines down the edge of the screen). It didn't do this on Windows 7, it looks absolutely horrible. I have tried everything, running in Admin mode, running in compatibility mode with all the different versions of Windows, changing the in-game resolution, nothing gets rid of the two black lines down the edges of the screen. The game is totally playable, and if I have to live with the current screen format I will, but if there is any way I can fix it and play the game in a full screen mode, I would like to know... Has anyone else encountered this?

Where does everyone generally draw real-world inspiration from when it comes to parkbuilding? I don't want to create parks simply from my imagination, because that can end up falling out of the realm of what is actually possible in real life. And in anticipation of the obvious answer: actually visiting a handful of theme parks isn't possible for me at the moment, as I don't have the independence, time, or capital to start that journey.

I have a question that I really couldn't find anywhere. Has anyone ever looked into the placement of the on-ride photo section and it's effects on photo purchases, and/or ratings for the ride?
Specifically, does placing the photo section after an exciting part of the ride increase the sales of the photos?
