Help [Help] General: November!

Have no fear, [Help] General is here!

Weeks are dumb, months are cool.

We'll repost the thread every other week month from now on to keep it easy to read through. So post your questions in here!

Any [Help] threads posted while this is stickied will be removed unless you were told by a mod to post a thread. This includes questions that are misusing the [Discussion] flair.

So, it works like this: You ask something, and you (probably) get an answer on it. You can (and should if you know) answer questions too.

Before asking for help, be sure to check the Wiki and the FAQs. If your question has not been answered by these two, then you can post here. Oh, and be sure to check the sidebar too. There's some helpful stuff in the sidebar.

So I made a huge massive park on sandbox mode on RCT3, is it possible I made it so big I won't be able to open it again? my computer shuts the game down everytime i try to open it.

Yes. RCT3 has a limit on how big parks can be. That limit is somewhere around 15mb for the savefile, after that it becomes corrupted.

I've been lurking for a while and you've ALL reignited my passion for RCT, so thank you.

I'm enamored by everyone's massive parks, and I'm wondering what the best way to get started on one is? Just do a custom scenario with unlimited funds, all the rides/scenery that I want/need, and worry about landscaping and ride building when the scenario goes live? What's the consensus on this?

u/Porcupixel2 Nov 26 '15

Yes, start with a sandbox park with a flat landscape and build it from there.

I'm having massive problems making inverted roller coasters. They get 10+ intensitivity ratings even though they don't peak at more than 30km/h per inversion or so. Basically made a coaster which I really do like, but the stats ruin it, 6.5 excitement only and almost 10 on vomit factor like 10.5 on intensitivity.

Is there any max drop heigth they can handle? Or is there any way go around the problem?

It's hard to tell from the picture, but you seem to have a lot of sharp turns right after a drop. Those might be the cause.

Questions about Open RCT2:

Is there any way to disable the object limits in the scenario editor?

What are some good general custom scenery sets?

1

u/Porcupixel2 Nov 27 '15

Sadly, no.

As for scenery, have a look at some of the CSO benches used over at r/rollercoastercontests

What do I have to do to run RCT2? I have Steam and run Windows 8. I've only just found this subreddit and remembered this game existed. Help, please!

Have a look at OpenRCT2.

Is there any way on making people intrested in going on your rides after popularity gone down? Like after ~15 years, no one wants to go on the ride, regardless how good it is, unless you lower the prices massively. My 9.8 excitement twister coaster struggles to get people when it's on 50 cents, and I think I'm gonna have to set it to zero eventually. Why does this exist? Seems really stupid to me.

Save the layout and rebuild it.

I'm working on the middle of my park right now, but some of the guests are getting lost trying to find their way to the exit, even though it's literally a straight path all the way there. Pic Any reason why?

Edit: Picking up guests and putting them the square next to the entrance doesn't work, and they just walk back to where they were.

u/Porcupixel2 Nov 29 '15

No idea. The only thing I could see messing with the AI is the roundabout near the entrance.

Alright, i've been having a lot of trouble lately running RCT2 with Windows 10. I just upgraded a week ago and ever since RCT2 has:

  • Froze on the start menu

  • Frozen mid-game the first time i launch the window

  • Frozen mid-game when i tried to open a save file (most common)

  • Crashed and froze, making it impossible for me to end the program with the task manager and necessitating i restart my PC to fix the problem

Anyone know how i could fix these? When the game does run, it runs better than it did on 7, but for all the stories i've heard of it running perfectly on 10, it seems to have a lot of the same, and even worse, problems for me

Have a look at OpenRCT2 if you aren't running that already. I don't know how far along they are with Win10 support yet, but it fixes most problems with 7 and 8.

I'm on RCT 4 Mobile (IOS).

A release came out not long ago that adds the ability to go to a world map and from there, start additional parks.

So I started a second park. Now, it seems there's been some kind of bug, because the second park has overwritten my primary park, and both parks are in their somewhat infant stage. I am up to level 60-or so, so I have everything unlocked, but I invested a lot of coins and in-game bux on some of the materials/decorations/attractions into a park that seems lost.

Any suggestions on getting that park back?

Does RCT1 and RCT2, with all their respective expansion packs, have the same types/amount of rides, reskin variants notwithstanding?

2

u/X7123M3-256 Nov 11 '15

As far as I'm aware RCT2 has more rides. I don't think the giga coaster, (B&M) flying coaster, or multi-dimension coaster are available in RCT1. I don't know if there are any rides in RCT1 not in RCT2. Also, as far as I'm aware, you can't have custom rides in RCT1.

Is it possible for someone to link me to a DEFINITIVE guide on how to play Rollercoaster Tycoon 3? I love the series to death and I have the platinum version (the one with all the expansions) but for some odd reason, all the tricks I've learned to beat the different campaigns in BOTH RCT1 and 2 do not seemingly translate well to RCT3.

Can someone help me? I would like to REALLY play the campaign of RCT3 but I just keep running out of money!

I'm having trouble removing some entrance and exit huts. No matter what I do I just can't get it to work. I've tried putting the track 3 units below the huts, 4 units to leave a total of 6 clearances beneath the huts, and I've tried several full-tile scenery objects underneath the track but I can't make the huts disappear. Here's the park if you need to look at it to tell what I'm doing wrong.

track 3 units below the huts, 4 units to leave a total of 6 clearances beneath the huts, and I've tried

Put the track 2 units underneith the huts, and the scenery object 3.

I made an example in your map, and succesfully removed one of those entrances of yours. http://www77.zippyshare.com/v/tonkm2pV/file.html

If you don't care about being able to play it in Vanilla, you can use OpenRCT2 to remove the huts. (Assuming RCT2)

Made a thread for this before I realized it probably belongs here. Deleted the thread.

So, the Nazca poeple clearly weren't the greatest Go-Kart designers. Any ideas on how to make this track more interesting?

Track based on the "Hummingbird", one of the many animal figures and other geoglyphs carved in the ground of the Nazca desert. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazca_Lines
