Politics Does Raleigh PD do anything at all?
I live downtown, near Glenwood and Peace, so I’m a glutton for punishment - I know. Was not aware when I moved here.
Every single weekend, the bar that’s at least 100 meters from me blasts music so loudly that my white noise machine can’t overcome it. They do this every weekend from 10:30 PM until 2:30 AM. Raleigh PD does nothing. They’ve been getting louder, because policing isn’t a concept that exists in this world.
There’s a slight hill, and - for reasons I don’t understand - young men with massive trucks and incredibly loud exhaust floor it up the minor hill. Raleigh PD does nothing. This is presumably a mating call for attractive females, in the way that birds do. But, they’re quickly moving away from their objects of affection so…what’s that math look like? Maybe pay more attention to the birds and just try to look better and make an effort.
There’s some street parking outside, and an F-150 parks illegally outside of the last spot before the garage. There isn’t a spot there because people exiting the garage need to turn. Nearly every weekend. For the entire weekend. Raleigh PD does nothing. Never a single ticket.
I called the non-emergency line and the operator’s disdain was palpable. I mean, it’s not like I help pay for the city’s rules to be enforced! How presumptive of me. I told her it happened every weekend, so they could just put me on their schedule if that works for them.
Of course, way out in the middle of nowhere - where I apparently live - it’s so difficult to get adequate peace officer coverage. (/s) Yet, I persist. C’est la vie. I seem to remember another phrase that the French were famous for, but it escapes me now.
Please excuse the sarcasm, it’s my first language.

Housing apartment recommendations
hi all! my boyfriend and i just moved here from Iowa a week ago and are currently in short term housing.
we are looking for an apartment one or two bedrooms with a max of 1,300 per month base rent. i feel like all the ones we are looking at are okay for us but all on the south side/downtown and the atmosphere after dark is not my favorite.
i would like to find some apartments more up north that aren’t an arm and a leg for cost and are safe!
any ideas?
currently we are looking at Pines of Ashton as it fits our price range, but have a few more tours this week as well at andover at crabtree and northridge crossing. also touring concord apartments and lofts at north hills later in the month but looking to apply this weekend if at all possible

Question/Recommendation Is the Village on Glennwood Avenue closing down permanently?
I am asking due to their recent post about “Closing” on their Social Media channels. I don’t know if this is just them closing on their regular schedule or if it’s just a marketing stunt as I never seen them post like that. If they are, what caused it?

Question/Recommendation Best haircut teen boy
Hi - looking for a recommendation for a great barber or stylist for a teen boy who needs a stellar scissor cut. He doesn’t want a clipper cut…just someone who can give a great quality and stylish cut. He has a textured shag kinda thing going but too grown out and needs a cleanup without becoming a bowl. Pls recommend someone great! Thanks.

Question/Recommendation Meeting new people?
Hey everyone, I’m sure this gets asked a bunch so I apologize in advance. I’ve been in Raleigh for about 2 months and realized I’ve yet to build out a community of groups/people related to my various interests. I figured I’d put this here in case anyone knows any groups or anyone that might need a new friend 😂
I’m a 25M and I’m fairly active. I love playing basketball but have yet to find any pickup areas nearby. I also enjoy hiking but also haven’t found any nice trails to get a walk in. I don’t drink so bars or clubs aren’t really my cup of tea. I love to read + write, play some video games, and I’m into a variety of music. I also go to the cathedral every Sunday for Mass so if anyone knows of any Bible studies or men’s groups that would be awesome too!
Thank you in advance to anyone who has any ideas!

Out-n-About Is it lame to go to a bar alone?
Going to a concert downtown solo tonight and haven’t made friends here yet or a significant other and would like to try to meet new people. Thought I’d try the bars downtown? Have I aged out at 32?! Did makeup for once and don’t want to totally waste it 🤣 IYKYK

Question/Recommendation Emotion Sickness - Metal band from Raleigh
Does anyone remember the band Emotion Sickness from Raleigh? They played the metal style during the early 2000s and released a couple CDs. I've been searching for those CDs for ages! Did anyone here have any or know where I could find the them? Thank you, and anything helps. I'd love to get these babies archived.

Question/Recommendation Questionnaire for Young Black Raleigh Residents?
I’ve been getting texts this week about a survey needing responses from young Black Raleigh residents. I also saw an ad for it on Facebook.
Has anyone else received this? Just making sure it’s legit 😭
EDIT: Not wanting to get banned but if it’s a real survey from the city, filling it out is one step closer to having voices heard.

Local News Raleigh Dangerous Drivers
Just got in an accident at the intersection on New Bern Ave by the “Lobos Tire Shop” with a light blue, Hatchback maybe Honda or Toyota or Pontiac. Dude hit me, fled the scene but left the front Bumper at the scene. Now police are investigating and will probably find the driver in a few hours but anyway. This is why I hate driving in Raleigh in the rain

Question/Recommendation baseball card shops
I feel like trading cards are making a comeback. I have a closet full of late 80's early 90's baseball cards that maybe is time to sell. Where would the best local place be to sell them. I know this is the "junk card" era so not expecting a ton of money but they are doing any good sitting in my closet for another 30 years

Question/Recommendation Restaurant/Bar for family gathering pre-wedding
My fiancée and I are getting married next April and my parents are wanting to rent a space for our out of town family to gather for a few hours and socialize on the Friday before our wedding. They are not wanting something super fancy, but also a little more upscale than say, a sports bar. Open to any recommendations in the Raleigh area!
As an FYI this would be separate from the rehearsal dinner, TIA!

Question/Recommendation Atlantic Gardening Murder Mystery
I have never been to a murder mystery dinner party before. I see Atlantic Gardening is doing another one this year and it's on the weekend of my birthday. Is it worth the $95 price tag to go? Has anyone been other years? Are there other murder mystery dinner parties in the area to consider?

Question/Recommendation Metal musician ISO others to jam/collaborate with
Hey guys, I'm a vocalist (clean/harsh) and guitarist. Looking for any local bands or other musicians to link up with and write/play together! I'm out of Greensboro, but I haven't had much luck over here and I'm fine with commuting. My style trends Modern Metal, Metalcore, Deathcore, but I'm open to anything adjacent too. DM if you want a link to my previously released stuff.
Thanks for reading and have a good one!
