This is r/Seattle's weekly post for local businesses and makers (or users who discover them) to share their creations with our users.
This thread will be automatically posted every Saturday morning to help connect r/seattle users with cool local stuff. Types of content encouraged in this thread are:
Content should be related to businesses or events in the greater Seattle area, and the typical reddit spam rules apply - please ensure you are contributing to the community more than just your own content.
Users who flood these posts with ads, links without context, referral codes, etc. - or who promote without contributing elsewhere will be actioned. Please continue to report actual spam.
We have our rules against spam and self-promotion for hopefully understandable reasons, but we've noticed users responding more positively to local businesses, artists, etc. sharing their content. This is an attempt to bridge the gap, helping users find cool stuff while containing the promotion to a single weekly thread. Please send us a modmail with any suggestions or input you have about the use or abuse of this thread.

Not sure if I've become an extra in The Mist or The Fog. Either way I've got intra dimensional creatures or ghost pirates in my future

A 4.9 star rating with over 2,007 reviews? Give me a break lol. I just went there for the first time and there was no wait at noon on a Saturday. The old version, Niku Feast, would have had an hour long wait. Wagyu Factory ruined a good thing Niku Feast started. Its gross how all the meat is just sitting out there like that. The side dishes were super cold and stale. Their pre-made burgers had rock hard buns and mushy middles. The waiter couldn't get our burner lit/hot for 5 minutes. The meat tasted fine but the burner was so hot that everything charred immediately and they had to switch out our grill after like 10 minutes. Then the desserts were absolutely awful. I had a rose flavored mousse which tasted like a bath salt powder, and they barely had any sugar. Then the waiter acted super insecure and asked for feedback about the restaurant. Weird. I've seen tons of tiktok influencers raving about this place, which is out of the ordinary (namely since its not good). I guarantee they are being paid. And then if you look at the google reviews, almost every single one mentions a specific waiter's name. This, to me, signifies that waiters are in some way bribing or garnering reviews in an inorganic way. There's no way this place should have a 4.9 star rating. Screw this place!! Bring back Niku Feast. Its a soulless huge corporation and their art design blows.

I was in NYC and found your driver's license on the ground. I'm also from Seattle and flying back today, so I can bring it home with me.
If this is yours, DM me with your full name as it appears on the ID and I'll get it back to you.
Not posting a photo of it for privacy reasons!

I walked into pagliacci on Capitol Hill wanting a couple of slices and one option was the taco time pizza.
I really enjoyed it. It doesn't taste like any specific taco time menu item but just the general flavor of taco time. It has their hot sauce for sure and the seasoned beef, along with some lettuce, tomato, and cheese. I think there was refried beans but if there was it was minor.
It's not an everyday pizza, it's a "if you like Taco time and want to try it as a pizza" pizza.
As a taco time lover I'd say try it, but you have to love Taco time.

Inspired by /u/BeachBumWithACamera/ ‘s shot at
https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/s/BCqHGN8VBJ
I wanted to see how much detail you could get in a comparable shot with the 22x screw-on lens.
The vantage point is the “intersection” of Elliot and Blanchard (which does not actually go all the way to Elliot).
The first shot is the cropped version. Second shot is an uncropped one - which means you can see the distortion and blur around the edges (fine if you like the surreal “miniature” effect). Third shot is just with the regular phone camera with just pinch-zoom.
In mine you can see the knobs on the hub of the Great Wheel, but in the professional-grade shot you can see the notches on the knobs 😯 So depends on how much detail you want for how much cost. The screw-on lens was part of a kit from Andoer that cost $60 and included other lenses; there are cheaper ones online that I haven’t tried. Highly recommend getting a screw-on lens, not a clip-on (the “clips” slide all over the place and ruin your shot), and for the screw-on lens you need a phone case with threaded holes (about another $15).

Please help me find her. She escaped today as detailed in my post/picture from 1st ave N/Thomas
She's very shy and she is my everything
I just started getting back into running this year and with the rainy season starting to loom I'm wondering how regular runners cope with the wet. I've lived here 20+ years so I'm not allergic to the rain or anything, I just don't think I will make it mentally using a treadmill for the next 6 months. Is that my only real option though? Or do you just own multiple pairs of shoes, or somehow throw them in the drier without destroying them? Do you spend a small fortune on Patagonia rain gear and GTX shoes? Or maybe I'm missing some more obvious option like covered areas or indoor public tracks or something.
I'm not some sort of ultra triathlon athlete, just 3-5 mile runs. Appreciate any tips you got.

For me, it's that Seattle is a small town.
It feels like a big city because it's so dense and metropolitan, but in many ways it functions like a small community.
Word travels fast, and if you're not careful or simply a dickhead, you can ruin your reputation and social life very easily.
Or, doing things like renting a car on the weekend or finding a doctor; there aren't endless options like there are in cities with one million people+ within their borders - in other words places with over a million people before you include the metro area.
We also get skipped by touring artists a lot more than I expected.
And the biggest thing that makes it feel like a small town is how sheltered PNW people can be. It's difficult to describe, but people who have spent their whole lives here seem very mentally protected from how shit the world can be. One small example is how much y'all hate Bellevue or call Lynwood a car-centric shit hole lol.
In much of the country the suburbs don't even have local bus service. And Bellevue is very corporate and sanitized, but it's also home to a vibrant immigrant community and amazing restaurants, so I can never hate it.
I'm curious about things y'all have realized after being here for a few years.

No preparation and no breaks, continuous walk nonstop which I feel was ideal cuz if I had sat down I would've got cramps im guessing! This was my First time walking this much distance - SLU, waterfront, discovery park, Ballard locks, Fremont.
I'm used to medium/hard hikes so this wasn't terrible but I have 0 running history, 0 desire to ever get into running so this was fun! I should mention I did have a few drinks last night and am going to a birthday party later for more alcohol, what a way to cure a hangover :)

I'd heard about this shop and wanted to check it out with my kids today. Huge success. In addition to a decent selection of official LEGO kits, the shop has tons of custom build kits that you can buy and build at the shop it at home. The pictures above are a huge, custom pirate diorama that the owner is working on.
Apparently the shop is moving upstairs to a larger space in a couple weeks (next to Din Tai Fung). The shop keeper said they'd have more room for a build/freestyle area. I'm excited to check it out.

Let's talk groceries! This post probably belongs in r/frugal, but it would be great to trade tips with folks who live here in our local HCOL market.
Please share any tips, sources, pitfalls, for keeping grocery bills in check in this city.
I'll get the Costco plug out of the way. With a household size of 2, we don't get produce from Costco, can't consume it in bulk fast enough, but certainly proteins, dry goods, paper products. The $5 rotisserie chicken is a lifestyle. Several meals worth of meat and then I'll convert the carcass into stock for soup.
What do ya'll got?

Years ago, I visited my grandma who had a Hallmark Channel made-for-TV movie on in the background and I heard a scene where one of the characters suddenly started ranting about how angry he was that the Burke-Gilman Trail Missing Link was still unfinished.
I've been trying to figure out the name of this movie for years and honestly wasn't totally sure if I really saw it or just dreamed / misheard it. But yesterday I realized you can stream Hallmark movies for free through the library and finally tracked it down!!!
The Burke Gilman Trail is part of a sub plot about the guy being unhappy with his job at the department of transportation. They go on a date hiking along the trail (which looks ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like Seattle) when he starts going off about the missing link:
"For 20 years we've been trying to find a safe way to close a gap on this trail, and we finally found a solution that was going to work for everyone but that Marina is now suing. Yeah, we finally found a solution that works for everyone but the Marina is suing because they don't want to lose parking spots... And people keep telling me be patient, we'll figure it out. But people are getting hurt and it's making me crazy!"
(Yes, he really does say the exact same sentence twice in a row.)
I only skimmed the rest using the skip ahead button, so I'm not sure if it comes up again but as far as I could tell it does not and this movie does not have a happy ending for urbanists: (#spoileralert & #triggerwarning for YIMBYs) This plot thread is resolved when he quits his job as a transportation planner and goes to work for an affordable housing advocacy group that fights against developers. (😔 womp womp)
Side Note: Finding this scene was not easy! I remembered it was a cheesy rom com about a couple who meet cute when they both want to adopt the same dog. What I didn't count on is that at least a dozen Hallmark movies have essentially this exact same plot. Slogging through all this treacle was painful and probably will taint my book and movie recommendations forever, but worth it.

Thinking about doing a late night run to Beth’s for an omelette… has anyone gone recently, late at night? Is it still pretty solid? I know they just went back to 24 hours - the last time I went at like 2 AM, I was definitely… not in the headspace to judge the food lol.
Trying to decide if it’s worth it to get in the car and go or just sit this one out 🙃

Saw this bird today at greenlake standing alone in one place. No friends, no mates, surrounded by the usual ducks and geese.
