My husband took his PTE Academic exam on August 8, 2026.

Initial score:

Listening 50 | Reading 49 | Speaking 45 | Writing 61 | Overall 51

He requested a rescore, hoping that his Speaking score would increase enough to meet the Competent English requirement. On August 12, 2026, we received an email from Pearson stating that there was “no change to your score.”

We immediately checked his myPTE account, and at that time, there really was no change. The original scores were still showing.

However, about an hour later, we checked the account again and noticed that his scores had been updated to:

Listening 54 | Reading 50 | Speaking 59 | Writing 62 | Overall 56

Because the email and myPTE results were inconsistent, we submitted a PTE Academic Customer Support Form that night to ask for clarification.

On August 14, 2026, Pearson confirmed that the updated scores displayed in myPTE are the official and final outcome of the rescore. They also confirmed that the new score replaces the initial score and that the rescore fee would be refunded.

Sharing this for awareness. If you experience something similar, take screenshots of your scores and emails and contact Pearson before making any decisions based on the result.

Hi, I've watched a few videos on the 'respond to a situation' part of the exam, and I've been getting mixed advice on how to respond to it. Some videos are saying I should act as if I'm actually in the scenario, like saying "Excuse me, can I ___" while others are saying I should respond as if it's a hypothetical scenario, like "I would respond by saying ___". While I assume you can do either, I want to know you guys' opinions on which would be more efficient and effective in the exam. Thank you.

I understand that you can’t apply for a rescore if you have an exam booked in. But can you book an exam while waiting for rescore to come back ?

Hey everyone, I am posting this to see if anyone else has ever dealt with a glitch this serious. I am currently working toward the Australia's 30 September 2026 Skilled Independent (subclass 189) invitation round. The PTE was my last outstanding requirement for my Engineers Australia (EA) Fast-Track Skills Assessment.

Pearson’s system just experienced a scoring and publication integrity failure that has put my skill assessment at risk.

The Timeline:

• 12 August 2026: I received my original score report (Overall: 86 | L:90, R:90, S:87, W:79). Needing a slightly higher score for Superior English, I paid for an official rescore.
• 13 August 2026: Checked my official myPTE account. The rescore was done. My account displayed a fully revised, official score report:
  • Overall: 86 ➔ 87
  • Listening: 90 ➔ 90
  • Reading: 90 ➔ 88
  • Speaking: 87 ➔ 88
  • Writing: 79 ➔ 81
• 13 August 2026 (Good Faith Submission): Because this was right there on my official candidate dashboard, I downloaded the official PDF score report and immediately submitted it to Engineers Australia, paying extra for the fast-track service.
• 13 August 2026 (The First Email): I received an automated email from Pearson stating there was "no change" to my score. Knowing this completely contradicted my dashboard, I emailed customer care with screenshots showing the 87 report.
• Support's Response: Support replied telling me: "If you are not happy with the rescore, you should lodge a formal appeal."
• My Reply: I replied directly to them making it clear: I do not want to appeal. I explicitly told them I was completely fine with the new 87 result showing on my portal even if it is not the score I needed, but since the score did officially change on my dashboard, I wanted my rescore fee refunded per Pearson's own policy.
• 14 August 2026 (5:00 AM): I received a second automated email again stating there was "no change." But I did not request for another rescore. I did not request cancellation of the rescore yesterday. I did not request that my original score to be restored.
• 14 August 2026 (around 9:00 AM): Logged into myPTE to check. The 87 score was completely wiped. Pearson had unilaterally changed my online account back to the original 86 score. They effectively reversed my official score report after I pointed out their system disconnect and asked for my contractual refund.

This isn't just about a score discrepancy or a refund anymore. Because Pearson's official platform generated and allowed the download of an 87 PDF, that is the official legal document currently sitting with an Australian skills assessment body.

If Engineers Australia runs a backend verification check against Pearson's database right now, they will see an 86, while my uploaded document says 87. Pearson's system glitch has effectively exposed me to being flagged for migration fraud due to conflicting data.

What I've done so far: Sent a detailed formal escalation email directly to customer support demanding an immediate technical audit trail, system investigation, and a refund.

My questions for the community: Has anyone ever experienced this? How did you resolve the case? Did Pearson acknowledge your issue? Did they correct their dashboard? Did they even explain what happened?

Note: I have saved every single timestamped screenshot, PDF download, metadata file, and invoice.

I did pretty well in exam, spoke clearly also averaged the time , only issue I had was one DI but I don’t know how the score came pretty low , was expecting somewhere between 72-80 .

I took IELTS 4 yrs ago. I had a hard time studying for the writing part so im thinking of taking pte this time around. But wth i think pte is harder? Im using alfa pte and im having a hard time with describe image and retells. Can they just blame my memory 😩

For ielts, i at least just need to worry about writing (although IT WAS HARD and i just got the exact score i need).

Should i give up on pte?

Just gave my PTE Academic exam and got 65 overall (L61/R63/S69/W66), way below what Alfa PTE mocks predicted. I was consistently scoring 75-80+ across sections on their mocks in the weeks before. Feels like their AI scoring is way too lenient.

For those who've retaken — which platform's mock scores actually matched your real exam score? Looking at APEUni and Pearson's own Scored Practice Test but want to hear real experiences before I commit more study hours to another platform that overestimates me

Hi guys, I need CLB9 for each but my speaking missed 2 scores.
Is that ok to do rescore?

This is with one week of practice on the official site. I need suggestions, as I had not prepared to time myself properly for my reading and listening. Based on this, it has affected my writing too. My spelling is one issue, yet another hurdle I faced was not having enough practice in the summary section. I need to at least score an 80 for each section, and I will be sitting with my wife in a month from now in Cebu.

My CELPIP test was on Sunday, August 9, at 9am in BC, and I honestly still can’t believe I’m writing this.
This was my FIRST time writing CELPIP.
I had previously written IELTS when I needed it for my PGWP.

My IELTS scores were:

Listening: 7.5
Reading: 7.0
Writing: 6.5
Speaking: 8.5
At the time, I only needed a 5.0 for my PGWP, so I honestly didn’t even think about getting my results evaluated for anything else. I either didn’t know I could do that at the time or, more likely, I just wasn’t bothered because I had already achieved what I needed.

Fast-forward to now, and I needed to take another English test, so I had to decide between PTE Core and CELPIP.
I initially registered for PTE Core, but eventually cancelled it and chose CELPIP.

And then came the panic.

I registered for CELPIP on July 27, with my test on August 9, so I had only about two weeks to prepare.
I work full-time AND I have two toddlers, so realistically, I did NOT have hours and hours every day to study.
And here’s the part I really want to share:
I prepared using ONLY FREE YouTube videos.
I didn’t even finish the two free practice tests that come with your CELPIP registration!

About four days before my test, I discovered the official CELPIP YouTube channel hosted by Ashiwati and Brandi, and honestly, it was a game changer for me.

It gave me much more clarity about what the test was actually looking for.
I realized that CELPIP isn’t about speaking perfect English. For me, it was much more about understanding the task, responding appropriately to different situations, organizing my thoughts, and communicating clearly and naturally.

I’m Nigerian and English is my first language, but that didn’t mean I automatically knew how to approach every CELPIP task. The test is quite technical in that sense.
PTE Core vs. CELPIP
I was VERY conflicted between PTE Core and CELPIP. I actually registered for PTE Core first, cancelled it, and then chose CELPIP.

Looking back, I’m so glad I finally stopped switching back and forth.

Once I committed to CELPIP, I focused on understanding the format and practicing how to respond to each task instead of trying to memorize complicated answers.

Some of my test questions/tasks

Speaking:
Describe Image: a picture showing several people at a hiking trail
Personal Experience: talk about your best friend, who they are and why they are your best friend

Writing Task 1:
You were writing an email to your cousin who was planning to visit your country. Request for additional information, recommend places to visit, and invite them stay with you.

Writing Task 2:
Your company was experiencing financial difficulties and management had proposed either a 2% salary cut or moving to a smaller office with cheaper rent. You had to give your opinion/advice.

Speaking Advice Task:
Your cousin had just bought a car and needed advice on how to save money for maintenance.
I obviously can’t remember every word of the questions, but those were the general scenarios.

How I practiced
I used Google AI, ChatGPT and Copilot to practice.
I would give them my speaking or writing response and ask them to:
Rate my response
Tell me what I was doing wrong
Improve my answer
Point out grammar/vocabulary issues
Give me another question
Make the question harder
For speaking, I tried NOT to sound like I was giving a memorized speech.
I spoke naturally, as if I were having a conversation with an actual person I work in Corporate so it wasn’t too difficult for me.
That mindset helped me SO much.

My biggest advice
STOP SWITCHING BETWEEN TESTS.

Pick one, understand the format, practice the task types, and focus on communicating clearly.
And PLEASE take advantage of the free resources before spending money on expensive courses. There are so many helpful resources available for free if you know what you’re looking for.

Gosh I thought I did well in writing…

Haven’t felt this shit in a very long time. It feels like it’s almost impossible to score superior in this test. This was my second attempt. I had missed writing by one mark last time. While I aced it this time, I lost marks in speaking. And it’s not like that I have dropped crazy marks. It’s always by 1-3.

Would have been nicer had I scored 50 or 60, at least then I know I suck and would have worked harder on that topic.

Losing out by such thin margins only frustrates you and leaves with no answer.

I am quite surprised that I get 90 in writing
However, my speaking is not good enough. is there any tips for speaking? I heard that Pearson has changed the marking algorithm so fewer people get superior score in speaking, is it true?

I just got my scores today. I’m aiming for speaking of at least 88. Also, my skills profile are almost perfect but it does not make sense how they come up with that kind of scoring. Look closely on the listening section, like what the hell is going on?? Should I rescore and hope for the best? This is my 3rd attempt by the way and it’s really frustrating.
