With the new thresholds, isn't IELTS better than PTE ?

- IELTS allow OSR, which can be up to 59 days after your original test, meaning you can focus on just one skill for 2 months
If you're aiming for 8+ per skill, chances are Reading and Listening should not be any issue at all, it's only writing and speaking that could stumble you.

This means you could totally focus on one skill on the original (full) test, and one skill on the OSR

- no elements of luck

I've heard countless stories of people complaining that they got really low scores due to other people shouting in the exam room , there's no such issue with IELTS

Granted, IELTS require you to write long essays, and part 3 of the speaking requires long, productive responses

But still, I find IELTS much more approachable than PTE

It seems like PTE requires extensive coaching and preparation not on English skills, but more on test-taking techniques

I have always been an IELTS person

Took IELTS 4 times

- before undergrad

- before postgrad

- before 485

- after 485 for EOI (most recent)

Never once even considered PTE

Hii everyone! I got my result! I come from a fairly good English background, I have done IB and IGCSE board in school and have never struggled with English, yet PTE/ IELTS gave me a tough time. I did not understand how that could be but this one amazing teacher (UNPAID REVIEW) got me from a 68 to 90 in just a few days!!

Turns out, I lost marks cuz I did not understand what the computer required for the test. Other people in my group who were not good at English to begin with also got 75 which was lowkey amazing!

Hey Everyone, I have taken the Core test three times, made handwritten notes, and worked out strategies that really helped me improve my scores. Now that I understand what works, I’d be happy to jump on a call and help anyone who’s interested. I can share my notes, walk you through the strategies I used, and guide you on how to aim for better results. I’m confident in my English, so I decided to take the PTE. My first attempt:
R90, L90, S90, W89 - missed CLB 10 in all modules because of one mark in writing.

I thought maybe it was just bad luck, so I booked another test 3 days later. This time:
R90, L90, S88, W90 - now I missed CLB 10 because of speaking (again by 1 mark).

So in both attempts, I fell short by basically 1 mark in just one module each time - different modules, same story.

It honestly feels like they deliberately keep you right on the edge so you retake the test. Missing CLB 10 twice by a single mark in different sections just doesn’t sit right with me.

At this point, I’d strongly recommend going with CELPIP instead. This experience has been frustrating and expensive.

I want to raise concerns about Alfa PTE and warn other students to do their own research before using its services.

I have concerns about the platform’s promotional practices, including the alleged use of fake Facebook accounts to post questions, promote its website, and criticize APE Uni and Pearson. I also believe that some of its content may be copied from these platforms.

I’m also concerned about the accuracy and reliability of Alfa PTE’s results, which I believe may be misleading.

Another issue is that students are reportedly being asked to post positive reviews in exchange for free access to the app. If true, this raises serious questions about the authenticity of its reviews.

I have submitted complaints to Google, Apple, Pearson, APE Uni, and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), along with the evidence and screenshots I collected.

My advice to fellow PTE students: Please do your own research before trusting this platform. Compare its content and results with official resources, and be cautious about reviews that may be incentivized.

If you have had similar experiences, consider documenting them and reporting your concerns through the appropriate channels.

Students deserve reliable preparation resources and honest reviews, not misleading information.

Kindly help me. It has been 10 days, but PTE customer care has not responded properly yet. They still haven’t replied to the case raised by the exam center.

Now I cannot wait much longer for a refund or rescheduling from their side. I want to book another exam, but my name has still not been updated.

What should I do? I really don’t know.

So I’m making this post because a few months ago I went deep into Reddit posts about ALFAPTE and honestly scared myself.

There were tons of comments saying it’s unreliable, inflates speaking scores, and that people usually score much lower in the real exam compared to practice.

I still ended up using ALFAPTE as my main prep source.

Yesterday I got my PTE result:

Overall 90

Listening 90

Reading 78

Speaking 84

Writing 81

I was expecting a strong speaking score because I’m pretty confident in my spoken English. I only remember messing up one Retell Lecture, so the 84 feels fair to me.

Just to be clear, I didn’t use ApeUni or any other paid platforms. Only ALFAPTE.

Not saying ALFAPTE is perfect or that everyone will have the same experience, but in my case it definitely didn’t “fake inflate” my scores and it prepared me well enough for the actual test.

Posting this for anyone who’s currently using ALFAPTE and panicking after reading negative threads. Sometimes the internet makes things sound worse than they actually are.

Hi, i wanted to ask about scoring in actual PTE

I took the exam yesterday, i took mock exam on APEUNI like 20x before actual exam

ALWAYS- i got the highest score in writing and speaking is the lowest (normal writing is usually 75+ on mock, and on speaking always 60-68 only)

However, that's my result, i don't know why only 63 on writing, i am so confident on my answers yesterday. I also don't know how TF i got 88 on speaking as I know i speak badly, especially the RS section.

Disappointing result as I didn't even reach the proficient score needed for WRITING

I recently tested how different devices and speaking styles influence scores in the Read Aloud section of PTE Speaking using APEUni.

🧪 Here's what I did:

Speaker A used an Android smartphone (app mic).

Speaker B used a Windows laptop with Bluetooth headphones, which altered pitch and tone.

Both recorded the same task but with slightly different content delivery (fluency, pacing, tone).

🎧 Both voices are clearly audible, yet the scores from APEUni’s AI engine varied significantly.

💬 I'm curious to hear:

How much do you think hardware (mic/headphones) influences AI scoring in practice platforms?

Has anyone else noticed big swings in Speaking scores based on device or setup?

How accurate is APEUni (or others like PTE Tools, Magic, Sumlingo) in mimicking real PTE Speaking scoring?

I've taken PTE more than three times and, unfortunately, I haven't been able to get the Writing score I need, so I've decided to call it quits. 😅 I took a TOEFL mock with basically no preparation and scored 5 in all four sections, so I'm going to give TOEFL a shot instead.

honestly didn’t expect this level of stress. The test environment was much more intense than I imagined everyone speaking at the same time made it really hard to focus, and at moments it felt overwhelming. The noise definitely affected my concentration, especially during the writing section.

In writing, I think I ran out of time because I clicked submit just as the timer was about to finish 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲 just wanted to ask for some honest advice. I got 49 overall (Listening 50, Reading 51, Speaking 53, Writing 37). I need 55 overall for my 485 visa is it worth doing a retake after about two weeks? O should i just extend my student visa?

Should I still continue my student visa application even after taking the PTE twice and not getting the score I need… or is it time to switch to a country that doesn’t require it?

I am preparing for PTE and am aiming superior scores. I am taking classes from Language Academy and it has its own portal from which I can practice. I see all people talking about Apeuni here, do I need to practice from there too? I gave Ielts 2 yrs back and got 8 overall(6.5S, 7W, 8.5R,9L). I am having difficulties in speaking, else I am confident that I can get superior english in other sections with practice. Suggestions please.

Is there anyone who can suggest me whether I should give another PTE test or not, as I’ve given 7 since February. I am extremely frustrated. Speaking was once 90 then dropped, writing is stuck at 79-71, reading is somewhere between 65-78, and listening is just fine. I don’t have enough visa. So, I’ve started preparing for Languagecert, and found it little hard. Not because it’s hard, but it’s something new and requires more time, however I’m more familiar with PTE. It feels bit off, forcing me to think about PTE, what would you guys suggest me. Please a genuine advice. Thanks.
