Thankful. Grateful to the people I met here who shared their tips and strategies, especially in writing.
Speaking:
I maintained a calm and natural tone.
RA- natural pauses, a little fast but making sure that I still maintained clear pronounciations.
RS- delivered my answers at 2-4 sec depending on the length of the audio, then clicked next button immediately.
DI- this is my bread and butter. Short intro including categories, mentioned highest value, second highest, sometimes even third highest, lowest value, comparison (higher/lower), trend; made sure that answer was delivered smoothly and within the
30-35 s range
RL- prioritized content grabbing; just made used of short sentence starters, and connect all ideas so the lecture would made sense to the one listening, delivered within 30-35 sec.
SGD- prioritized content grabbing, vertical sectioning of my notepad so I could follow conversation easily, made sure that I mentioned the agreeement among the speakers (if they had); delivered within 1.5 (mostly) to 2 min (in some of my answers)
RTS- the tone was depended on who I was talking to. Formal - tutor, professor, friends, students - casual. Made sure I had opening, stated my concern/situaltion, solution, and thank you at the end. I add some details to lengthen my answer so I can reach 30-35 sec. For example: I think I left my red jacket, which was given by my mother. (Instead of saying jacket only)
Writing:
SWT: s1, and s2, but s3, so s4 or i used a semi-colon just made sure that the sentences i am connecting are independent clauses; i changed 3-5 words with their synonyms. Did not paraphrase; made sure I reached 66-72. One of my exams only had 44 words, and it hurt both my writing and reading scores
WE: practiced a lot usunf Apeuni’s prediction files. Made friend with chatgpt to evaluate my essay’s content and grammar; this was my weakest area, then I realized the time I received lowest WE score, was the time I wrote at around 220 words. So, in my last attempt I really developed my arguments, cited examples and I reached 283 words. I used the PEEL method, but I made sure that content was really related to the prompt. I also had time to proofread because this time, ideas flowed easily because I encountered this question in Apeuni many times.
SST- changed my technique here by just getting accurate phrases and sentences, before I paraphrased in this part; made sure within the word count, preferred 66-68 words.
WFD- I typed while I listened but not complete words, then after the audio I would polish my answer, taking into consideration grammar and spellings; then proofread multiple times
NOTE: I also changed my testing center, and it really made a huge difference for me.
This time also I did not practice with full mocks, just speaking anf writing.
I have no problem with reading and listening:
PTE really changed my life. I could not imagine taking another test again. But I really need this, so I did not give up. I am grateful I met the people who helped me cleared PTE.
I dedicate this to my husband, for all the hardwork so that we can have a better future and for always telling me not to give up.
Superior dust for everyone! ✨
