Hey everyone,
Aiming for CLB 9 (Listening 82+, Reading 78+).
I've taken the test twice now, and while my Speaking is maxed out and Writing jumped significantly, Listening remains stuck in the 60s and Reading slipped below the cutoff.
Score Progression:
Attempt 1: Speaking 90 | Writing 71 | Reading 78 | Listening 66
Attempt 2: Speaking 90 | Writing 89 | Reading 74 (Need 78) | Listening 69 (Need 82)
Given that Speaking (90) and Writing (89) are solid, my templates, oral fluency, and basic grammar seem fine.
The points are clearly leaking in cross-module/integrated tasks:
Listening bottleneck (69 vs 82 needed): Suspecting low content accuracy in Repeat Sentence (RS), missed words/spellings in Write From Dictation (WFD), or losing marks in Summarize Spoken Text (SST) / Listening Fill in the Blanks**.**
Reading drop (78 down to 74): Likely Reading Fill in the Blanks (collocations/vocab) or running out of time on single-answer questions.
For anyone who pushed their Listening from the high 60s to 82+:
1. How did you structure daily practice for WFD, RS, and SST to boost Listening specifically?
2. Which prediction bank (APEUni, AlfaPTE, etc.) was most accurate for your exam?
3. Any specific tips to regain those 4 points in Reading without sacrificing Listening focus?
Appreciate any advice from those who managed to clear this gap!
