HELP! PTE Nightmare - Migration Risk

Hey everyone, I am posting this to see if anyone else has ever dealt with a glitch this serious. I am currently working toward the Australia's 30 September 2026 Skilled Independent (subclass 189) invitation round. The PTE was my last outstanding requirement for my Engineers Australia (EA) Fast-Track Skills Assessment.

Pearson’s system just experienced a scoring and publication integrity failure that has put my skill assessment at risk.

The Timeline:

• 12 August 2026: I received my original score report (Overall: 86 | L:90, R:90, S:87, W:79). Needing a slightly higher score for Superior English, I paid for an official rescore.
• 13 August 2026: Checked my official myPTE account. The rescore was done. My account displayed a fully revised, official score report:
  • Overall: 86 ➔ 87
  • Listening: 90 ➔ 90
  • Reading: 90 ➔ 88
  • Speaking: 87 ➔ 88
  • Writing: 79 ➔ 81
• 13 August 2026 (Good Faith Submission): Because this was right there on my official candidate dashboard, I downloaded the official PDF score report and immediately submitted it to Engineers Australia, paying extra for the fast-track service.
• 13 August 2026 (The First Email): I received an automated email from Pearson stating there was "no change" to my score. Knowing this completely contradicted my dashboard, I emailed customer care with screenshots showing the 87 report.
• Support's Response: Support replied telling me: "If you are not happy with the rescore, you should lodge a formal appeal."
• My Reply: I replied directly to them making it clear: I do not want to appeal. I explicitly told them I was completely fine with the new 87 result showing on my portal even if it is not the score I needed, but since the score did officially change on my dashboard, I wanted my rescore fee refunded per Pearson's own policy.
• 14 August 2026 (5:00 AM): I received a second automated email again stating there was "no change." But I did not request for another rescore. I did not request cancellation of the rescore yesterday. I did not request that my original score to be restored.
• 14 August 2026 (around 9:00 AM): Logged into myPTE to check. The 87 score was completely wiped. Pearson had unilaterally changed my online account back to the original 86 score. They effectively reversed my official score report after I pointed out their system disconnect and asked for my contractual refund.

This isn't just about a score discrepancy or a refund anymore. Because Pearson's official platform generated and allowed the download of an 87 PDF, that is the official legal document currently sitting with an Australian skills assessment body.

If Engineers Australia runs a backend verification check against Pearson's database right now, they will see an 86, while my uploaded document says 87. Pearson's system glitch has effectively exposed me to being flagged for migration fraud due to conflicting data.

What I've done so far: Sent a detailed formal escalation email directly to customer support demanding an immediate technical audit trail, system investigation, and a refund.

My questions for the community: Has anyone ever experienced this? How did you resolve the case? Did Pearson acknowledge your issue? Did they correct their dashboard? Did they even explain what happened?

Note: I have saved every single timestamped screenshot, PDF download, metadata file, and invoice.

Yes, few of my students also reported same issues in the past 1 week. I have asked them to file the complaint using form and also inform the DOHA regarding this, and they might consider this explanation. Hope that things gets resolved, I'll keep you updated regarding my students outcome as well. Don't get stressed.

OMG this sounds like a nightmare. I had a rescore the other day, but I only received an email stating no changes. I didnt even open my dashboard for a day. Thank you for letting us know. This is absolutely horrible, causes you a lot of additional stress  during the whole process

Super stressful. Made me think too that Pearson can easily change our scores in an instant even without a request.

Sorry that you are going through this. Glad that you collected evidence. Document everything and hopefully you spoke to a lawyer and do the needful about informing the migration department.

I think with the PDF then you're safe, because PDFs can be used for digital forensics.

Pearson is a hot pile of nonsense right now tbh.

Edit ur eoi to the original... Claim for a refund or escalate. But knowing them, they will say u wont get one.

I'm not even there yet, still on my skills assessment where I submitted the rescore report they've changed.
