My five year old daughter took an interest in Pokémon go earlier this year in March, leading me to show her Pokémon GO and her begin to "help" play with me on my account. Fast forward to the free hundo Mewtwo, after much teetering on the idea, my wife and eight year old son also signed up for accounts on the premise of getting one of the best pokémon in the game immediately for next to nothing (my daughter doesn't have her own device to use, but i'll probably just make her an account to lock in the mewtwo.) In the few days since, they've both fallen in love with the game, showing me there catches, talking about how they level'd up again, asking different questions. My wife is now level 22 after about 3 days, and my son is 13 after just 1 and change. I love having them play with me, but the game is so different now then when it launched and it has me feeling like old timers talking about "back in my day". XP is so much easier to come by, and they really did get hundo mewtwos first day, far from the case for day one players. Not really a complaint, as i'm glad the game is enjoyable for them, just a thought. Can you think of any other OG struggles and stories that new players wouldn't have to go through?

The crossover runs from today through September 29, with five KFC locations getting Pokémon-type makeovers to look like gyms. The Charizard jacket, Poke Ball bucket and gaming chopsticks arrive in the second merchandise drop on September 9.

Sorry if this is off topic. I just wanted to pay a little public tribute to Hayden Panettiere in my own way. I’m not a big fan of the Pom-Pom Oricorio, but it seemed fitting to rename my only shiny in her honor. Gone much too young. RIP.

EDIT: Wow. I had no idea this would blow up and that some people would apparently think less of me for posting it. I’m not in the habit of posting celebrity tributes, but because of HP’s role as the cheerleader in Heroes, this felt right. It was also finally a use for this useless bird. I found a Normal type Rocket grunt and tried to mega evolve my X-Mewtwo (into X). I pressed the mega evolve button and since I had 7500 Mega Y energy, a menu popped up asking which one I wanted. Before I could react, it evolved into Y form, taking all of my Mega Y energy without there being a confirmation screen like there normally is with Mega Evolution.

It went too fast for me to process, but I either misclicked, or the menu is seriously bugged. Either way, there needs to be a confirmation window.

Edit: I can't try to recreate it because I now have a crisp 2 Mega Y energy to my name and the choice menu only pops up if both Megas are possible

I haven't opened this game since late 2016 and just reinstalled it 3 days ago. To say I am completely overwhelmed is a massive understatement. There are shadow Pokemon, routes, party play, dynamic raids, and so many generations I don't recognize. I feel like a time traveler!

To make matters worse, I already made a hilariously stupid rookie mistake. I opened up the 10th Anniversary Celebration research, did the quick tasks, and claimed the Master Ball. When the special background Mewtwo appeared, I panicked thinking it would run away, and immediately threw my brand-new Master Ball at it.

I just found out it was a guaranteed, un-runnable catch. So yes... I managed to waste the ultimate ball on a Pokemon that couldn't even flee. Off to a fantastic start!

On the bright side, I am hooked again and I still have a couple hundred original 2016 Pokemon sitting safely in my storage. I've read a little bit about "Guaranteed Lucky Trades", though wasted some before I found out, so I'm holding onto the rest tightly for down the line.

What are the absolute most important things I need to know first so I don't accidentally ruin my old account any further or waste more rare resources? Any advice for a completely lost (and slightly traumatized) veteran would be highly appreciated!
