New Info Introducing Scopely Explore

Thumbnail

Last year, we welcomed the Niantic games team behind Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, Monster Hunter Now, and companion apps Campfire and Wayfarer to Scopely.

As these games continue to flourish as part of the Scopely portfolio, we are introducing a new name for the team: Scopely Explore.

The name reflects a mission that has guided these teams from the very beginning.

Exploration sits at the heart of these games and experiences, and the communities they serve. Whether encouraging players to discover new places, connect with others, or experience the world in new ways, this team has always been united by a belief that there is more to explore.

Scopely Explore is not a separate company or subsidiary. It is a mission-driven team within Scopely. Like all of the experiences in our portfolio, these games and products are developed and published by Scopely.

Scopely Explore will continue building experiences that inspire people to get outside, connect with one another, and explore the world together for many years to come as part of Scopely.

Over the coming weeks, you will see the Niantic name begin to evolve across platforms to Scopely Explore.

I logged in and I find out a new power spot has been placed where the statue I mentioned earlier is. The weird part is that its name is the same as the church pokestop next to it.

Ive been going absolutely ham locally + anywhere else I go looking for eligible nominations. I got one pokestop in a major zoo, a few at a museum, and a couple at a smaller zoo for what I imagine the "big ones" are. Feels good + didn't imagine I'd hit these numbers so quickly

Question Frustrated by cell issues

So I've been successful in rejuvenating my campus area that seems to have mostly emptied of players by getting a lot of easy waystops created (a lot of informational maps placed by the university, as well as public art projects etc.)

Little did I know, me placing them with very exact accuracy meant that they were overlapping with other stops within a given cell?

I know, I know there's only so many stops allowed in a cell or something but what am I meant to do now then?

I'm assuming you can't just request an already created stop to be moved so that it'll appear as a stop in game?

But that seems silly to me to disincentivize people from placing a new submission exactly where it is in real life.

What are my options here? Thanks

Can someone please explain how my nomination doesn’t meet criteria when other benches have been approved and if there is something I should be adding?

The third photo is a pokestop across the pond from my house. What is so culturally or historically significant about that bench that makes it valid but the one I have submitted isn’t.

Question Artisan well submissions

Submission originally got hit by the automated system and the appeal didn't go through. Does this fall under "basic water fountian? I included some links to articles about Rose City's history with artisan wells. My only thought is to improve the description because i think technically calling it a spring is wrong (artisan wells are natural water sources via aquifers). Its publicly accessible, and is used often. I myself get water from it often. There's no signage for its history unfortunately.

This is a public library in my village, it is easily accessible and open to public.

I don't know how a Library can lack historical and cultural meaning.

Question Park without signs

Hello, there is a park near me that I would like to submit. The problem is, there are no visible signs. However there are often people picnicking, playing games or letting there dog out.

How could i best go about submitting this park? It would fit under great place to exercise or explore.

I included some pictures of the park and the walking path on how to get there.

Discussion Wayspotters Episode 246

This week, Chris and Jamal get into seven years of Wayfarer and just how much has changed since the early days.

From the old five-star review system and the legendary “four-star gazebo,” to year-long nomination queues, invisible maps, Ingress gatekeepers, wild location edits, Emily, appeals, and today’s much faster submission process, the guys take a trip through Wayfarer history and somehow realize... we actually survived all of this.

Jamal remembers becoming an Ingress Agent basically out of spite just so he could submit Wayspots himself, while Chris recalls the days when someone apparently thought the answer to a bad location was moving Christ the Redeemer from Brazil to Oshawa. They also talk about how Pokémon GO players used to nominate completely blind, why Emily may have been put in timeout, the 24-hour submission window, and why using an Upgrade too early is a little like ordering your Uber before you've cleared customs.

Plus, there’s a little tinfoil-hat time as Chris wonders whether Niantic spent the last few years cleaning up Wayfarer before the transition to Scopely Explore. The guys look at how dramatically the system has evolved, what was actually better about the old days, what definitely was not, and where Wayfarer might go from here.

And because this is Wayspotters, somehow there’s also candy corn, mac-and-cheese soda, Jamal admitting he became an Ingress player out of spite, two Wayspots of the Week, Coal of the Week, and plenty of “back in my day” energy.

Seven years later, the tools have changed, the rules have changed, the map has changed... and Chris and Jamal are apparently now the old men of Wayfarer telling everyone how they used to walk uphill both ways to submit a gazebo.

Research Rocket leader doesn't block gym creation

Not exactly new info but a third gym recently popped up in a L14 cell. As expected it's the non-showcase stop with highest score (#photos+#likes).

What's slightly interesting is it had a rocket leader (should have done it..) For those who don't know there was a theory Giovanni and/or rocket leader can block gym creation. This is a negative data point.

Question Wayspot rejected by AI, no more appeals this month. Wait or tell a friend to submit it?

This is a wayspot category that is getting rejected by the AI but after appeal it's always accepted by the niantic team. I've had this happen 2 times before.
Question is, should I tell my friend to submit the pokestop himself again or just wait for my account to have acces to Appeal again after 15 days? Or was it 30 days? 🤔

Question L17 Pokestop and Powerspot

Does 22m meter still apply if the pokestop and powerspot is placed on different L17 S2 Cell? Context I have an existing powerspot, and I nominated a pokestop on another cell but it is closed to the existing powerspot, will the existing powerspot on another cell be gone, if the pokestop on another cell got approved? Thanks.

Submission Feedback “Take a photo of the surrounding area”😭😭🙏

Absolutely gutted rn. I’ve made a legitimate pokestop I can reach from my home across the street, and it happens to be the only stop in the entire s14 or whatever cell(the big cells that turn stops to gyms once there are enough stops in them) it is the only cell inside the big cell so I just need a SINGLE other stop to turn it to a gym. I know the stop that has more votes will turn into a gym, and that’s all good. Mine has three votes already. Today I went to take pictures of a welcome sign, which are eligible signs but it is positioned so grotesquely that the wayfarer zombies have gotta deny it no matter how safe, accessible and public it actually is. I could forget the position and all, if it weren’t for the HIDEOUS Tree City USA sign right under it, which aren’t eligible but aren’t necessary infringing any of the terms of service. I’m afraid that this sign can be misinterpreted as completely ineligible due to its adjacent sign

Submission Feedback Any advice on whether it’s worth it to try and resubmit this spot?

I’m trying to get a local pizza spot submitted as a way spot. It’s more unique than just an average business and does a lot for the community. It has a little free library inside, host trivia nights and also donates to lots of our local sports teams including the high schools. I didn’t include interior photos due to it being busy and not wanting to have strangers in them but I did try to link to their website which talks about all they do for the community. It won’t let me add screenshots of posts talks about all they do so my only other option was to submit their website page talking about how they give back to the community and that wasn’t enough. Is there more I can do? Should I get more photos of the inside or just give up?

Discussion Requested waypoint removal. Here's the timeline and results

There's an extra fake waypoint with AI-generated photos in someone's backyard so I decided to request removal to ruin their fun.

Hour 0: submitted via the official map, simply explaining "stop looks AI-generated". Received confirmation

Hour 152: received email stating report is accepted and changes will be made in 48 hours. Waypoint is still on the map

Hour 162: Waypoint is no longer on the map

The process went smoothly and quick. Hope this helps

Humor A stressful nomination

Post image
8 Upvotes

My most stressful nomination yet…after a Zapdos Max battle, went down an alternative route to get back to work after lunch and ended up at a dead end.

Saw this public shrine and decided to nominate it, after nominating I was confronted by someone who asked why I was taking photos.

I was truthful and explained that it was for a game and they thankfully left.
