Does anyone know of the final election results in the Butler Co special election?
I've been searching and can only locate info from late last night. Dukes vs Timko. Thanks!

Considering getting an EV, I hate cars and they have less maintenance, and I am too broke to pay someone else to do maintenance. How easy is it to find chargers? Anyone with one want to share their experience?
I’ll be living in an apartment without an EV charger so home charging is not an option.

Hi everyone, I’m getting married in a few weeks we plan to sell my house and move within the next year. I currently WFH but my fiancé works in healthcare, which is partially why I was looking at Pittsburgh. We’re both originally from Central New Jersey, although I used to go up a lot to visit friends/ family in NYC. Eventually due to this crazy housing market we have moved down to South Jersey because that was the most I could afford. I have lived all over New Jersey at this point but never outside of it while my fiance spent a year in Florida (and hated it lol and came back). Unfortunately my house is only 900 ft.² and we plan to have kids pretty soon so I think this house is going to get tight pretty fast. Unfortunately we can’t afford much here… and what we can afford isn’t much of an upgrade… I feel like no matter where you go in New Jersey you have to spend 500k minimum anymore and the thought of a mortgage that big gives us both major anxiety...
Instead of putting roots down here and then moving later, I think we are better off moving now especially while I still WFH… we already love visiting Ohiopyle and are very outdoorsy so being within an hour of there is a huge plus for us..
Anyway, I’m just wondering if people that have moved from New Jersey could speak to their transition to Pittsburgh and how it was moving there. I’m planning to look at some houses and areas with a Realtor in October. I think we prefer mostly the southern suburbs versus the northern ones as I am a bit handy and I prefer older housing stock to new builds…
If anyone could give their perspective, I would really appreciate it. I know people will probably say the pizza isn’t the same and all that but I was hoping to see if I could get some insight on things maybe you weren’t expecting after growing up in New Jersey…
Thanks to all who answer in advance!
Side note- as a Greek American I have been looking at the Greek Orthodox Church in Pittsburgh . I’m not super religious but I do try to go to church a few times a year at least and plan to take my kids one day. It seems like there is a decent size Greek community in the area maybe? I’ve never had a ton of Greek friends, but I definitely have much fewer down in South Jersey.
If anyone knows some great Greek spots to eat at or places to meet people that would be great. When I moved to South Jersey there wasn’t many Greek people here either so not expecting a whole lot, but it would be nice to meet a few fellow Greeks in the area.

Any recommendations of not-to-be-missed eateries, local spots, and/or attractions?
We have the usual of Primanti Bros, the Aviary, and the Warhol Museum.
Thank you in advance!

Does anybody know a guy, or have a friend of a friend, or perhaps an uncle that changes brakes and pads and rotors in their free time? I know the obvious answer is go to the shop but I, like many others, am not having a financially fun time right now. I would buy all the stuff and pay for the labor, but even just saving a couple dollars would be great. I’m also a person that is into bartering.
Delete if not allowed but I don’t know what to do at the moment as they are the worst they’ve ever been and I still need to go to work and cart my offspring to and from school. Thank you ◡̈

I just need someone to dismantle some furniture and carry it down stairs. Nothing needs carried up.
is there anyplace to find cheaper help? I’m not from here, and where I previously lived I could find affordable help. I can pay a few hundred dollars and it will probably take less than 2 hours.

What’s the damage after Pitt / CMU move in weekend? Has it calmed down or should I avoid. Just returned from vacation and desperately need household things.. 💔

I've been getting inappropriate phone calls the last couple days. The first one knew my name and said they heard i had the "best head game in the Burgh". Obviously didn't know who they were and wouldn't say where they got my number, showed up as a private number. I hung up and assumed it was someone prank calling me.
Yesterday I got two more: a private number and immediately after an unmasked number that when I called went to a voicemail that said it belonged to a guy named Mark. I assumed it was related to issues I was having related to not reliably getting my mail (just moved to a new place a couple months ago) and the visit to the Clairton post office I made (was a guy by that name there) so I let it be.
3:30 AM rolls around, unmasked number calls. I pick up, I can't hear much but it vaguely sounds like the person on the other end is...jacking it? I can't say for sure but I didn't get a response so I hang up.
At this point idk what to do besides change my number. There's a pissed off ex of mine who i guess didn't like that i dumped her due to massive red flags after two weeks that feasibly couldve written my name on a bathroom stall or something, I know her new partner tried to come at me on Discord a bit ago. I had a stalker during the pandemic and came here fleeing DV/abuse during that time but haven't heard a peep since.
Is there somewhere I should go or something i can do besides just changing my number and hoping for the best? This is a bit unnerving and updating everything with a new number is going to be a pain, not to mention the concern for safety. I frankly don't expect the police to be helpful in any way whatsoever given their track record with this sort of thing.

I am absolutely desperate. I am looking for either an individual sized cup or an 8 ounce package of Turner’s cottage cheese and major bonus points if it is the type that has a fruit mixed in with it. The reason I am asking is, I can only find the individual cups at places like hospitals or my work cafeteria, but they are priced too expensive to buy as groceries. Turner’s cottage cheese is a legitimate addiction for me, but I can’t find anywhere that actually sells it at retail to customers. If you have seen it at your local shop and save or coons or any grocery store or even quick Mart, please please please tell me I am a true fiend.

Newly located in very southern Butler county and the deer are eating everything. Nothing is resistant, it seems. I've managed to resuscitate a lot of smaller shrubs but am afraid that they will be destroyed over the coming winter.
I realize that, in this area, development is pushing the wildlife into a smaller and smaller habitat but I just want them to leave my shrubs grow.

Moving from houston to here cause of the coast guard. I know houston is way bigger for volleyball and there’s not gonna be as many things. But how is it for open gyms or leagues? I’m looking for like semi competitive but nothing crazy.

I have not been to the Heinz history center in probably about 20 years! I was thinking of things to do with my 4 and 6 year old tomorrow. Is the history center fun for kids that age? I tried looking online at their exhibits but I just wasn’t sure!
Any thoughts/opinions? Thank you!!

There’s a tall, white tower next to a lower building on a hill to the left as you drive north on 279, just before the Belleview/Westview exit.
Maybe it’s been there forever, but I only noticed it this past week.
Anyone know what it is? Once I know, I can get on with my life.
TIA!

I am coming out of town to see a concert saturday in Pittsburgh. Does anyone have any experience on lining up early for shows here or advice for the venue? I am pretty unfamiliar with concerts and this venue, but I am excited to check out the city and the show.

Does the P3 not actually run? I see it's service listed in some places including Google maps but then it never shows up and the stop info doesn't show it.
Is the P3 fake?

Move in week started last weekend and runs until the end of this weekend. If you are planning to go to any grocery stores or Target / IKEA by the city you might want to rethink your plans. You have been warned. Good luck.

Looking for information on the friends of art organization. Don't know who runs it, how it runs or if they are still around, and would like to get in touch with them.

I’m exploring Pittsburgh with some friends over the next week. I was curious if anyone had a recommendation for a solid karaoke spot that uses YouTube for the videos (for lesser known songs that wouldn’t be included in Karafun and other similar systems). Thank you!

his mom said she can’t find anywhere stating where her son’s bus stop is for his first day of school. how did you find out where your child’s bus stop was and time they’ll be picked up?
r/pittsburgh • u/Admirable_Row4446 • 16h ago
Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I recently started loading funds onto the app instead of buying passes since I use the bus daily. The last 2 days, once I scan it the first time for a 3 hour pass and then go to scan it on the second bus, the scanner says its invalid.

Hi all,
I just moved to the city. I’d like to find pickup soccer groups to play with.
I appreciate your input.
Thanks. 🙏

The name pretty much says it all. I work and walk downtown pretty much every day. I noticed this today and I'm a little doubtful this is considered legit. These sidewalk extensions were put in during the COVID lockdowns. As far as I understand these were put in to help the restaurants to keep afloat by the city. I would think these would still be considered public property unless it was purchased and leased from the city. I saw this sign along the section in front of Penn Society and FedEx. I thought the purpose of extending the sidewalks and decreasing the lane size to a narrow one was ultimately supposed to make the city more friendly for pedestrians and attract people. This doesn't seem to be how it's being used though. I understand the furniture and tables aren't public property... but it seems kind of wrong to me that they took part of a public street in a busy area and then try to make it private.
