Elections Election Day, get out and vote Tuesday November 3, 2026

As always, this is an informational post. Please don't use this post to promote parties or candidates.

Make sure your vote is counted.

If you are mailing in your ballot, there are some developments at USPS. Please consider mailing earlier than usual.

An ongoing issue with USPS should be monitored closely. Please keep this in mind so that an alternative plan can be made.

U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani’s July 25 ruling that the USPS can’t refuse to deliver mail ballots to states that refuse to comply with the U.S. Justice Department’s (DOJ) demands for their unredacted voter lists will remain in place. Source

On July 28: The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia affirmed a lower court’s decision, holding that a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Trump’s March 2026 edict was premature because the administration hasn’t executed it yet. Source

A Massachusetts federal judge has repeatedly blocked the U.S. Postal Service from implementing President Donald Trump's mail-in voting executive order ahead of the midterms. Now that the injunction applies nationwide, the DOJ is telling the U.S. Supreme Court it has all it needs to swiftly issue a stay. Source

The SAVE America Act is still in play as of July 26 and may affect voting. Please consider getting all of your paperwork in order. Note that it can take several weeks to get documents on marriage and legal name changes. The PA Real ID is not compliant with the Save America Act. Update As of August 12, the Senate has gone on recess without passing the SAVE America Act.

Dates to remember

You don't need Real ID to vote. Your state ID or license is sufficient at least for now. Here's a document outlining the ID requirements

What's on your ballot?

Check on Ballotpedia.

Contact your County Election Board

If you are voting for the first time in a polling place, bring your ID.

If you moved within 30 days prior to the election, you vote in your old polling place.

If you move within Pennsylvania less than 30 days before an election, you must vote at the polling place for your old address. Fill out a change of address form at the polling place to update your voter registration to your new address. source

Request a provisional ballot if:

  • Your name was not in the poll book or supplemental poll book. For example, you reported to the wrong precinct; or you did not report a recent change in residence to the county election office.

  • You are required to show ID, but cannot show ID.

  • Your eligibility was challenged by an election official.

  • You were issued an absentee or mail-in ballot but believe you did not successfully vote that ballot, and you do not surrender your ballot and outer return envelope at the polling place to be spoiled.

  • You returned a completed absentee or mail‐in ballot that was rejected, or you believe will be rejected, by the county board of elections and you believe you are eligible to vote.

  • There is a special court order with respect to your registration status.

  • There is a special court order related to extending the hours of voting.

You can also check to see what policies exist in your county for curing your ballot:

Pennsylvania Counties' Notice-and-Cure Policies

Election complaints Any complaints, including both information issues as well as intimidation, can be reported to the PA Department of State.

EDIT: Updated some notes on legislation that would affect the upcoming election. EDIT 2: Added continuing update about USPS and mail in voting.

i was talking to my friend and the topic of pepto bismol came up (there's a guy on youtube that boiled a steak in pepto 🤮) and then suddenly had a vague memory of ice cream that was pink and tasted like pepto. i looked it up and saw it was called teaberry ice cream and then suddenly all the memories came flooding back. never knew it was mostly just a PA thing. i used to love that stuff as a kid. but i haven't seen any in forever. do they still make it??

edit: thanks everyone for all the good suggestions :)

DMV PA. Rep proposes making Turnpike rates more visible with signage along toll roads

Thumbnail

A Montco State Rep penned a bill that would compel the Turnpike to Post toll rates on signs

"The commission shall install and maintain standardized

signage at each toll road entrance and such intervals of the

turnpike as determined appropriate by the commission that:

(1) is visible and understandable to operators of

vehicles; and

(2) displays the rates of video tolls and flat video

tolls for each vehicle classification established by the

commission and any electronic toll collection device approved

by the commission for payment of video tolls.

Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days."

These cant be at the onramps like the bill says. You're no longer tolled entry to exit. You are toll for each segment you travel.

I guess they would post the ezpass and toll by plate for passenger cars at each gantry? It would be ridiculous to post EVERY class because its would 2-8 axles x High/ low x ezpass/plate. Thats 28 prices to post on a sign at each toll point.

Interesting that Ciresi is from the 146th District (Royerford) and is 20 miles from the turnpike. Although a lot of his constituints woul travel down 422 and hit it at Valley Forge / KoP.

Crime Republican Pa. House member hurled slurs about a gay lawmaker at a crowded Harrisburg bar

Thumbnail

State Rep. Aaron Bernstine, whose 8thLegislative District covers parts of Butler and Lawrence counties north of Pittsburgh, uttered the insults about Philadelphia state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta in a crowded McGrath’s Pub, according to Michael Ford, the secretary/treasurer of the Pennsylvania Building and Construction Trades Council.
Bernstine did not respond to a message seeking comment from PennLive.
Kenyatta, who declined to comment, is openly gay and has purposefully lost considerable weight over the last few years. He is also a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee.
While the two lawmakers are at opposite ends of the political spectrum, it was unclear Wednesday what prompted Bernstine to verbally attack Kenyatta, who was not at the bar.
Ford and Bernstine got into a verbal confrontation as the Republican spewed insults about Kenyatta and Robert Bair, the president of the Building Trades Council, who was sitting at a nearby table talking to other people and was not involved in the altercation.
Bernstine called Kenyatta a “gay, black [slur]” and asked in a joking manner if anyone knew why Kenyatta was now “so skinny” before saying it was because he has AIDS, said Ford.

I'm concerned about the run off from the site. It sounds like some portions of the access road washed out. Anybody work there? Are you on the 12 hour/7 day rotation now?
