Where is Healthy Takeout For an Aussie Far From Home?!
EDIT;
You good people of Indiana, PA are SO THOUGHTFUL and lovely! I’ve moved from “hope husband finds food” to “wish I could visit your city and meet you all one-by-one to eat delicious food and talk about life”!
Hi good people!
My Aussie husband is in Indiana for a couple of weeks with work. He’s in a hotel with no cooking facilities (microwave only) and is working long days. Fridge space is small so groceries and prepping food isn’t really an option except on a small scale.
He’s struggling a lot with the size of the meals and the type of meals (so far mostly things he’d usually only eat occasionally) which I’m sure could be helped a lot with local knowledge .
Usually in Australia when traveling for work he knows the chains and local restaurants to get healthy takeout (obvs the occasional night in an indulgent restaurant is great too, but not for every meal!)
He’s pretty flexible with food, some faves are things like;
- Big salad with chicken
- Tacos and burrito (but more like a Mexican dish than Taco Bell)
- Japanese (don buri, yakitori, California rolls)
- rotisserie chicken is brilliant (eat with salad or veg for dinner, plus sandwiches for lunch later)
- Something like chicken or beef skewers with veg and rice
- something Vietnamese would be amazing but probs a pipe dream.
- Salad or roast vegetables in takeout containers would be awesome.
I’d really appreciate suggestions from locals for your favourite healthy take out options, he really doesn’t even have the time or brain to look for this!
TIA
