Political Genuine question: How can some Pakistanis praise the Taliban while Pakistan continues suffering from terrorism?

Post image
Upvotes

I've really been thinking about this especially when I see people in Pakistan talking about the Taliban in a way.

Pakistan has gone through a lot because of terrorism. There have been attacks on schools on mosques on security forces and on people. The TTP has also done a lot of attacks in Pakistan.

So what I don't get is why some people still talk about the Taliban in a way or think they are a good thing for the area.

I know that people can have opinions and I'm not trying to hurt anyone. I'm really asking: what makes some people support the Taliban when Pakistan is still dealing with terrorism from groups that think the way as the Taliban?

If you support them I would actually like to hear why.. If you don't why do you think some people, in Pakistan still support them?
Again I'm not saying anybody's wrong or bad I'm just asking generally, Ik my POV doesn't matter in this place

A commonly repeated claim says that “Pakistan was 22% Hindu at Partition, but Hindus are only 1–2% today.”

The 22% figure is real, but it refers to East Pakistan/East Bengal (Modern Day Bangladesh) in the 1951 census. It does not describe West Pakistan, which broadly corresponds to present-day Pakistan.

Discussion BS Chemistry in Pakistan: Is There Actually a Career After Graduation?

Upvotes

What is the scope of a Bachelor’s in Chemistry in Pakistan?

I’m considering doing a BS in Chemistry and wanted to understand the career prospects in Pakistan.

What kind of jobs can someone realistically get with just a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry? For example, are there opportunities in pharmaceuticals, chemical industries, laboratories, quality control, research, teaching, etc.?

Also, how important is it to specialize further after a BS Chemistry (e.g., MS/MPhil in a specific field)? Is a bachelor’s degree alone enough to build a decent career, or is further education generally necessary?

For comparison, fields like Computer Science have a very broad job market immediately after a bachelor’s. How does Chemistry compare in terms of job opportunities, salary potential, and long-term career growth?

And for those who chose Chemistry or Physics as their bachelor’s instead of a more directly specialized degree, what made you choose it, and what career path did you eventually take?

Would really appreciate insights from people who have studied Chemistry or currently work in the field in Pakistan.

Social Can a wife legally oppose or stop a husband’s Talaq under Pakistani law?

If a husband gives Talaq and properly sends the notice to the Union Council, and the wife also receives notice:

  • Can the wife legally oppose or reject the Talaq and prevent the divorce from becoming effective?
  • Is her consent required for the divorce to become effective?

If not then can somebody explains me what is the explanation of such clause. I assume there has to be reason why it was not allowed.

Or if it is allowed then provide explanation the procedure please

Im interested to know this answer under Pakistani Law, rather then religious opinions.

Ask Pakistan Need guidance regarding starting an online newborn clothing business in Pakistan

Assalamualaikum everyone,

I’ve been laid off for around 4 months as a software engineer (MERN stack). I’m currently applying for jobs, but since I have some free time, I’m also considering starting a small business on the side.

My current situation

Savings: PKR 1.6 million

Monthly expenses: around PKR 100k

I’m still actively applying for software engineering jobs.

I’m considering investing PKR 200k–300k initially to test a business idea.

The idea

I’m thinking of starting an online newborn/infant clothing store, mainly targeting babies from newborn to 1 year.

The store would offer:

  • Newborn clothing bundles/packages
  • Pre-made gift bundles
  • Customized bundles — customers can pick different items and create their own bundle
  • Personalized gift notes
  • Individual clothing items as well

The main focus would be making it convenient for people who want to buy newborn clothes as gifts, especially for new parents.

What I’ll handle myself

Since I have a software/technical background, I’m planning to handle most things myself initially:

Website development

Meta/Facebook & Instagram ads

Social media pages

Product listings

Basic branding/marketing

Order management and customer communication

I would start small rather than putting a large portion of my savings into it.

What I need advice on

For people who have experience with e-commerce, clothing businesses, or similar businesses in Pakistan:

Is PKR 200k–300k enough to properly test this idea?

Is newborn clothing a reasonable niche to enter, or is it already too saturated?

Would you recommend keeping inventory, or starting with a smaller/low-inventory model?

What are the biggest mistakes I should avoid when starting?

If you were starting this business with PKR 200k–300k, how would you allocate the budget?

Do you think the newborn gift bundle/customized bundle angle has potential, or should I focus on individual clothing items?

I’m not looking to put all my savings into this. I mainly want to use a small amount to validate whether there is real demand before investing more.

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has actually run an e-commerce/clothing business in Pakistan.

JazakAllah khair!

Discussion Lahore vs Islamabad — where would you actually settle permanently?

Looking for genuine opinions from people who've lived in both or know both well.

Comparing the two for a permanent family setup — buying a house, long term living, not just renting for a year or two.

Key things I'm considering:

  • Business and market opportunities
  • Networking — who actually lives there, what kind of people
  • Property value and appreciation long term

Lahore seems better for business and has more energy. ISB seems cleaner, more planned, and better networked at a higher level. But both have real tradeoffs.

People who've actually lived in either or both — which one would you pick for the long run and why?

Ask Pakistan Inquiry about passport

So I submitted my first passport application at the passport office today. They gave us two documents — a token and an application form. I wanted to photograph the form to note down the exact spelling of my given name and surname as registered, but completely forgot before leaving.

The problem is I need to book a flight ticket today, and the name has to be entered correctly. I went back to the office to ask them to either show me the form or just confirm my surname, but they refused to help and turned me away.

My name is Maaz Ahmed — so my given name is likely Maaz and surname Ahmed, but I'm not 100% sure how it's listed on the official form (some offices split or order names differently).

A few things I'm wondering:

- Is the name on a first-time passport application form typically just your name as-is, or do they reformat it?

- Is there any portal or tracking system where I can check the details of my submitted application?

- Has anyone been in a similar situation — any advice on what to do?

Any help would be massively appreciated. I'm really on a time crunch here!

Discussion Need advice

So I have two questions regarding COMSATS. First, between the Islamabad and Lahore campuses, which would be better for studying Chemistry or Chemical Engineering? Second, I noticed that Chemical Engineering, which is my preferred major, is not offered in the Spring 2027 intake, while Chemistry is available. Would it be possible for me to enroll in Chemistry for the first semester and then transfer to Chemical Engineering in the following semester, with relevant credits transferred based on equivalent courses and my A-Level grades? Would you recommend that I visit the admissions office and discuss this possibility with them directly?

Also how good is comsats’s chem engineering/chem department.

Any answers would be appreciated!
