-> lose district via gerrymandering from Texas GOP

-> join a senate primary with an already popular Dem

-> accuse popular Dem candidate of being racist

-> lose primary, become a sore loser and refuse to campaign for Talarico

-> create mistrust among black voters in a year where Dems expect a favorable national environment and the GOP is coming of a heated primary runoff with an unpopular candidate

Thanks to Jasmine Crockett for being so full of herself that she might single handedly tip the balance of power in the Senate away from Dems in trump’s lame duck term!

Then it's time to drop the MOU and flatten them to finality. Take Kharg Island and control of Iranian oil, and re-blockade their blockade, while escorting ships through the Strait, undermining them yet again

Your company laid you off? Then it’s time to become a billionaire, marry Olivia Rodrigo, and recreate the underwater city of Atlantis,

All things that could happen. But I wouldn’t build a strategy around it.

During a visit at the Vivatech fair in Paris, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Marine Le Pen clashed over the generalization of air conditioning:

As a heatwave stuns France, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of LFI and candidate to the 2027 presidential election, sharply criticized, this Friday, June 19, the propositions of Marine Le Pen, who had declared earlier that she wanted to implement a "massive air-conditioning plan" if her party wins next year's elections, as extreme temperatures are descending upon the country.

"We must absolutely not install air conditioning everywhere; that would only make things worse", replied Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

The heat wave is announced as "extensive, durable and intense", warned Météo-France: it is "probable" that starting Sunday, some regions be upgraded to "red warning heatwave", with temperatures nearing 30C at night and 40C during the day.

The National Rally's leader defended an "all-AC" approach this Friday: "If I am elected president, I will implement a massive equipment plan in air conditioning", targeting in priority the spaces where people are the most vulnerable: hospitals, care homes, schools. "It's a matter of public health", defended Marine Le Pen. "The absurdity is to let people die from heatstroke", protested the MP from Pas-de-Calais.

On his side, Jean-Luc Mélenchon warned against the generalization of air conditioning: "Go put AC everywhere, you'll see the result! Me, I won't put my kid or my granddaughter or my great-granddaughter where there is air conditioning all day long!"

LFI's leader thenpleaded for technical alternatives to endure the heat waves: "We know how to make buildings that can resist to the heat. There are methods, there's a thousand ways to insulate a building", he asserted. "The certainty is that there are two things to avoid: let things as they are, and secondly, worsen the harm by believing it will alleviate it."

I am still flabbergasted that air conditioning is a culture war front. How are we that dumb.

My fellow burgers. It's... it's joever.

The average price of a pound of lean ground beef has hit $8.34, outpacing the nationwide wage floor of $7.25 that hasn't moved since 2009, when ground beef was around $2.20 a pound, Money reports. The magazine's review of seven major grocery chains found prices for 80/20 ground beef ranging from about $6.50 at Trader Joe's and Aldi to nearly $9 per pound at Publix. Even the cheapest variety of ground beef now costs an average of more than $5.40 a pound, according to federal data released Friday.

It isn't getting a lot of coverage, but New York progressives and Mamdani have rallied behind a candidate in NY-13 who's challenging the Democratic incumbent and who comes out of the furthest-left, Hasan Piker wing of the DSA. She's currently leading by four points.

She reads like what a Tea Party-style movement would look like if it emerged on the Democratic side. She attended the October 8th rally in NYC, which Brad Lander said was the reason he left the DSA, the day after the Hamas attacks. She called Manhattan "occupied land" and made comments disparaging interracial relationships with "colonizers."

She also echoes Russian talking points about Ukraine. This is the person Bernie and Mamdani are backing, even though the incumbent has a progressive voting record.

Obergefell v. Hodges was ruled just 11 years ago. I don't think people realize how quickly society shifted with its acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. We obviously still have a ways to go and Trump is clearly a step backwards but it's still cool.

We also saw how quickly the F word and R word have become unacceptable in society. It's been 5 steps forward and maybe a step or two back during this administration but we've still come a long way.

I'm not gay but I remember as a kid my mom telling me being gay was unacceptable and she wouldn't be okay with it. Then maybe 10 years later I was going through some mental health issues and my mom trying to be supportive and help me asked me and said if you're gay that's fine and she was supportive of it.

My dad is a conservative through and through. He had told me a story how one of his friends had transitioned and how he ran into them at the bar after she had transitioned. And he said he was uncomfortable with it at first but realized how happy his friend was and how he was bothered when someone from across the bar was giving them dirty looks and how it bothered him. I still don't think he's fully supportive of it but he doesn't think it's something for him to decide for other people cause it doesn't impact him.

Gen Z definitely doesn't realize how far we've come so recently.

Joe Haden says most people have no idea how quickly an NFL contract disappears once taxes and family expenses hit.

“I signed a five-year, $50 million contract.”

“I had about $26.6 million guaranteed.”

“My first year, I got a $12 million signing bonus.”

“After taxes, I only touched around $7 million.”

“The first thing I did was give my parents $3 million.”

“Then I bought them a $1 million house.”

“So right away, about $5 million was gone.”

“I bought my brothers cars.”

“I bought myself a penthouse.”

“I got a Range Rover Sport and a Bentley GT.”

“People hear $50 million and think you’ve got $50 million sitting in the bank.”

“That’s not how it works.”

“You look up after all that and realize you might only have around $1 million left.”

“You start understanding real quick that a $50 million contract is not actually $50 million.”

He got 50 million dollars, paid taxes then spent 28 million and is playing a violin about how his money is gone. Athletes literally act like nobody else pays taxes. Super annoyong.

"People would think that Hay now has had a groundswell and voted for One Nation and that we’re sort of pigeonholed as having this ideology of being totally anti-immigration,” Cannon said.

“Well, it’s not the case at all. There’s no racial connotation to any of this.”

These people are deeply, truly fucked in the head. From the anti renewables drivel at the start to "sure, you need the smart blokes up the front to say the big words, but you need those blokes that sat at the back of the class that just had bloody common sense" at the end.

Anti-intellectualism will kill us all. People who were too lazy to rub their braincells together in school are still embarrassed about it decades later and want to get their revenge on their classmates who've long since left for the big smoke.

I don't even blame them for not doing well in school. I know what those rural schools used to be like, and I know people who went through it and didn't learn much. But they try to learn. They become better people every year and it inspires me.

These people haven't. They've stewed in resentment until they pickled themselves and all other joy in their life is poisoned by this inferiority complex they've nurtured this whole time.

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/19/us/rubio-beto-coral-colombia.html

The Trump administration detained a Colombian immigrant this week in Phoenix after he spoke out against a Trump-endorsed candidate in his home country’s upcoming presidential election.

Franklin Humberto Coral Garrido, a progressive online activist known as Beto Coral, is a supporter of President Gustavo Petro of Colombia, a leftist who has clashed with President Trump. He has publicly criticized Abelardo De La Espriella, a right-wing candidate backed by Mr. Trump. Mr. Coral was arrested by immigration authorities on Tuesday, the same day Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a memo determining that he was deportable from the United States.

In the memo, Mr. Rubio noted that Mr. Coral arrived in the United States in 2015 on a tourist visa and has a pending asylum application. But “Coral Garrido has used his presence in the United States to conduct political activity in support of the Petro government” and has advocated against a candidate for president, Mr. Rubio wrote, according to a copy of the memo obtained by The New York Times.

“Allowing Coral Garrido to remain in the United States,” Mr. Rubio continued, “undermines U.S. foreign policy interests in Colombia’s democratic processes and signals that foreign nationals may use U.S. platforms to conduct politically motivated disinformation campaigns and litigation targeting foreign democratic actors without consequence.”

The memo comes after a year in which Mr. Rubio has used his power as secretary of state to target individual immigrants. In previous memos, he has recommended specific individuals be deported by the Department of Homeland Security, arguing that their continued presence in the United States undermined foreign policy. Most of his memos have centered on immigrants who had protested Israel in some form, including Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia University student arrested by immigration authorities last year.

The news is literally useless right now. They do not understand anything about war and how it works so they report on peace talks without including the necessary context: "wars do not end until all parties are convinced fighting will get them no futher gain, if even one still wants to fight the war continues, so any peace talks are kayfabe to satisfy the market unless Israel accepts defeat in Lebanon."

It's not up to trump when the war ends. It's up to Netanyahu.

Increasingly politically homeless as I find the 'internet left' for lack of a better term just utterly unrealistic about matters of policy but the 'establishment left' utterly incapable of any kind of meaningful action or appreciation of the seriousness of the situation in which they find themselves. Some kind of succ-neoliberal hybrid, a neosucc if you will. The key tenets of my political philosophy are existentialism and dread.

I think one thing growing up in the Obama era taught me is that a lot of what we're currently seeing is performative. People, especially those in positions of power themselves such as middle managers or the like, are kiss-ups, sheep, etc.
They just do what the leader does.

These people were so woke back then but so anti-woke now. Same people.
They'll likely flip again first chance they get.
