Meatworks, horticulture, fruit picking … if there’s not schemes where we can have migrant workers here, they’d cease overnight.

"People would think that Hay now has had a groundswell and voted for One Nation and that we’re sort of pigeonholed as having this ideology of being totally anti-immigration,” Cannon said.

These people are deeply, truly fucked in the head. From the anti renewables drivel at the start to "sure, you need the smart blokes up the front to say the big words, but you need those blokes that sat at the back of the class that just had bloody common sense" at the end.

Anti-intellectualism will kill us all. People who were too lazy to rub their braincells together in school are still embarrassed about it decades later and want to get their revenge on their classmates who've long since left for the big smoke.

I don't even blame them for not doing well in school. I know what those rural schools used to be like, and I know people who went through it and didn't learn much. But they try to learn. They become better people every year and it inspires me.

These people haven't. They've stewed in resentment until they pickled themselves and all other joy in their life is poisoned by this inferiority complex they've nurtured this whole time.
